@JesusChristLiesToYou em, yh chuggers actually raise money to help people in the UK and worldwide, and you are saying they should be punished for that? :s
There are other ways to raise money for charity's: this summer 3 guys ran the grueling 75 km west coast trail in 18 straight hours to raise money for the canadian mental health association (cmha) Youtube search "1 day for the cmha"
I would never stand in the middle of the road and see people passing by and ignoring me and looking like a BIG fool to the entire community not even for £235 an hour!!! This is the worst job out there! Simply ridiculous!
This is for people that like to look like a fool for £7 an hour and who like to be ignored by 4/5 people. I would rather change nappies for disabled people that can't even go to toilet, but NEVER do this sort of crap!
well...when no place accepts you becuase of the ammount of hours you are allowed to work, or because you have no previouse experience or lets say no one wants to give you a chance to gain experience,,,ANd you need money
this is what you will do, some people out there have no other option
@FoodCubes No, All your money goes to the charity. The charity invests so much money of their last years budget into making more money for the next year. Look, I know allot of people have a bad view of people being paid for charity work but you just can't get volunteers to put as much work into the fundraising. At the end of the day, whether your a charity or a business, you have to spend money to make money.
@MrMolineux But then where does the company get their money from? How can they pay hundreds (I suppose) fundraisers across the UK ~ £250 a week? This is what I don't understand and why I am against street fundraising.
So, I believe that probably 60% of my money would go for the ACTUAL cause, and the rest to the company to pay their fundraisers their wage. Is that right? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I really want to know how exactly this works.
Hi Kami. First of all, let me complement you on not just ranting about what you thinking is and actually trying to learn more about something.
Lets say you have a charity like the BRC, they pay about 60 GBP to a street fundraising company per donor signed up to a direct debit each month. All of the DD goes strait to the charity and they take the risk that the person will go on to donate back over the 60 they paid for that donor. The company I used to work for mystery shopped
us once a fortnight to make sure the fundraisers never signed someone up they knew were going to cancel before the period of loss was over. Now, if you really love a charity and already know about them, sign up via their website so they don't have to pay for your donation. The reason street fundaisers exist in the first place is because very few people will think, "Hey, I am going to sign up to a charity today" without having it put in front of them. I was dubious at first
@MrMolineux , like anyone. Do the research, charity's make more through direct fund raising than they do from big adverts. You pay 200k for one minute of prime time advert, how many calls back are you going to get? You never know. This way, the charity pays a certain fee for so many sign ups it knows it is going to get with normally an added 10% cancellation cushion. Hope this helps.
I do this! done it for three years now...its great fun, and lovely people to work for, ive never had a more fun satisfying job and make you feel good about your self to boot *yay*
iv signed up and had my telephone interview i was successful yipee iv got my face to face on the 4th of march and is really looking forward to it im a wee bit stressed but i would love to that kinda work...so see u soon ukdd...

Ok, so if someone donates 230, they have basically paid the street fundraiser's salary for a week.
