i had 2 hermit carbs then on left his shell and i got alot of extra shells 4 them and he didnt go into 1 and died im like wtf then my second ones big claw fell off oh does that happen

It doesn't matter how much special care you

take of your hermit crabs. Sometimes you

can purchase a sick one and not know it like

I did a few months ago and it died anyway.

Now I'm left with two and I hope they are all

right. Pet store people don't know beans

about the pet you purchase. The guy who

got this little crab shook and blew at it and

I got disgusted with him. I took it and showed

this guy how to do it right.

Its possible you purchased a stressed hermit crab and it passed on because of PPS(post purchase syndrome) caused by being shipped around and stressed out. If your crabs are still with you, you are probably caring for them correctly and should not have any stress related problems. :)

Get sand for your hermit crabs, and a glass tank and a heater so that way they can be much more active and they will be able to molt

Why didn't you take good care of it? They can live for up to 9 years in captivity. You shouldn't have bought it without looking into the immense care they need.

Please, do not put gravel in your tanks! Sand or soil is the best for hermies! Gravel will rub up against their gills, and they can't molt in gravel either! In other words, THEY WILL DIE!

One of my hermit crabs died today. Earlier this morning I noticed him in the water dish, and one of his legs was missing; a few minutes after I noticed that, he lost another one. After I came home after I went to get more shells. I noticed he was dead.

I called the hermit crab Sonic, because of how quick he was.

I first noticed he wasn't eating much and that he wasn't drinking any water. Today, he wasn't moving mutch at all, so he died.

Cute ruggie!(type of ermit crab) But you need to work on your conditions in your tank. You need heat, and humidity both at the levels of 80. You can buy a gauge for cheap. You also need sand. Deep, damp sand. So they can dig and molt
