I've seen professionals go from Reason, Cubase and Logic to FL Studio. It's simply a different way of controlling the same elements. It doesn't have anything to do with what's for beginners or pros, it has to do with WHO the beginners and pros are. And that's not something the DAW changes.

@iliatilev that's a fame FL has, as it started just as a loop machine wich evolved into what it is, but right now is a big competitor with those. Some artists use FL as their main DAW with no problem. One big flaw tho is the low support for live performing.

I don't understand FL Studio haters either. Big-time producers have used it (such as 9th wonder.) It's a professional program, it's just that the interface is much easier to cope with than many other programs. I prefer FL Studio over Ableton Live, Cubase, Logic Pro, and Reason. Like one of the commenters said, it's not the gear, its the engineer. And that statement is very true. If you listen to mainstream music, a lot of it is done on Mac and expensive programs/hardware yet it's all shit.

Fl Studio is awesome. People who says it's shit just don't know anything about electronic music production. You can import all of your VST plugins into it, what more is there to say? The piano roll is fantastic and FL interface is just awesome.

I own a few DAWS (FL9XXL, Reason4, and SONAR 8.5). I have also used Logic and Garageband for a few years. Out of all of those I have used I believe that FL9XXL and Logic take the cake. All though Logic surpasses FL9 in terms of sounds and stock plugins but, FL has the instant gratification, the workflow, and simplicity in the Production aspect that can be outfitted the best VSTs on the market such as OmniSphere, EastWest series, and VSTs made for other DAWs ( Sonar: Rapture, Dimension Pro)

im sry I LOVE FL STUDIOS ......BUT the reason every one thinks it sucks is cus the stock sounds are vrey vrey VERY BAD...SRY...BUT THEY ARE ...thats why people like cubase Sonar reason and logic......there stock is much much BETTER.....but once you get some good vst/vsti in to FL THEN Its one of the best DAW'S OUT THERE......but the stock SOUNDS ARE horrible.....

I hate how theyve mentioned Reason but made it out to be inferior to FL. Reason kills FL in every way shape and form, I own both and FL is basic at best. FL is a music making kit where you use samples to make songs, or create sounds using samples. Reason is a sound making kit, you dont use other pre made samples, you build your own samples and sounds from the ground up which means every song you make sounds unique. Also FL never sounds professional, Reason kills it, hands down far better.

FL is the best DAW for making ANY kind of music. EDM happens to be where any DAW would really shine simply because it's more involved and intricate than any other kind of music. FL Studio is hands-down the best audio/music production app around.

FL hardly sucks. It's different to Reason and the more supposedly "Professional" programs, in that it concentrates more on synths. But it's easy to use and you can easily add new sounds and instruments. Garageband is more instrumental and VERY basic. It is nowhere near as advanced and is terrible in comparison.

Photoshop has less options than Paint Shop Pro. But you can do more with the options. FLStudio is more of a blank canvas. It's more customizable. It is superior for creating MIDI files, and if you know how to use it, it can be heck of a powerful. Have you heard some of the stuff that can be made with it?

I'm not sure what you're saying with that whole PS vs PSP comment. I've used PSP before which was neat, but hardly anything as powerful as Photoshop. When I switched to PS I realized what I was missing.

I like to compare FL vs the others with Photoshop vs others. FL is like the Photoshop of audio/music. It's the cadillac.

If I could have all the hardware or all the software of any other app or system, I'd never switch from FL Studio. Way more powerful than meets the eye!

1. for me it's very flexible

2. I dont hv a midi controller before but I cn use my pc keyboard although ryt now I hv PCR-800 and V-synth GT...

3. i luv dr VSTi effects and gnerators...:P

Both Reason and FL Studio have their pros and cons. Reason CANNOT record audio, but it is a powerful soft-synth with only one purchase option. FL is less of a powerhouse, but it has audio editing capabilities and soft-synths rolled into one package, at several purchase options.

Honestly people seem to think FL Studio is not powerful, but none of them have seen the pure raw power of FL like the pros who use it. I've been using nothing but FL since version 3.5. I couldn't go any other way, because it would require many more steps just to do some of the simplest things in FL. I've tried a lot of the other apps, including Reason and Cubase. Ick...their workflow is awful.

Sorry but Reason and FL dont have pros and cons. Reason CAN record audio, you can do anything on Reason, its has endless posibilities. FL is so basic that if your really serious about making music then youd have to buy Reason. Theres a reason why Reason (see what i did there) is ore complicated to use, its coz it holds such a vast amount of options to tinker with your music, you cant even build your own sounds in FL, what the fucks that?
