The "system" is not broken. U.S. immigration laws work if they are enforced. What is in need of "reform" are the folks charged with making sure they are followed. Insofar as legalizing people who are unlawfully here, it makes no sense to reward individuals who have successfully violated federal statutes. We did that in 1986 and look how that turned out.

My solution to this problem. Immigrants want to live here they must meet the requirements such as...

1) Must be able to read and speak English. I don't go to your country and expect you to learn English so don't come here expecting me to learn Spanish.

2) Must know American History.

3) Must have a valuable trade skill. Such as a Doctor, Programmer, Teacher, Carpenter, etc so they can contribute to society.

4) A thorough background check.
