  • Hello were a new Black Owner company were looking for friend to be add to us will you help remyhairruscom please look at our site were looking for lady friends from your facebook page friend list .

    thanks .

  • I advise an American. Do not associate with the Korean very much.

They are kinds of the evils.

  • This documentary seems a little bias. My experiences with korean owned shops were always positive. . They tend hire black women especially to assist their black clientele, Many of the se shops also rent spaces in the back at a reasonably lower rent for black hairstylists to work out of. Many korean hair shops have operated in these areas for so long they develop ties within the community from previous generations and witnessing their children grow up to become new customers...

  • wow, i didn't the African American community is this racist, why is it not fair? these Koreans are Americans too!!! First we bash about how we dont keep our job with in United State workers, which i 100% agree, US jobs should only be for US citizens, but now why are we going around hating on other AMERICAN'S small business owners?

  • Nobody's hating. He's telling the facts about the black hair business. And part of the facts is that Koreans not only control the industry, they also are racist as hell. If you were in the industry, you would know. Korean distributors don't sell to black retailers. Korean realtor's don't buy from black distributors. That is fact, get over it.

  • BOYCOTT? I think that is taking the situation way off course. Educate and change comes from your parents and other elders within the community. Let's learn and open hair salons, nail salons, cleaners, and other stores within the community. Where there is a need we must build on it and profit from it! OWNERSHIP!!

  • ugh, this is so much shit I don't know where to begin.

Koreans get money from the government when they come over to start a business. what's a cheap, fast, growing business? Selling fake hair/hair supplies, and doing nails. You know -why- they monopolize the business?

Because black people always want to wear weave, pieces, and all that which changes ourselves into straight-haired women. The image of the standard acceptable beauty is still lodged in our heads.

    Btw, I'm black/rican.

  • That is absolutely not true, to be allowed to enter to the US you need to have money. Some years back the US government was asking to have a minimum of 10,000 dollars in a bank account.

Other thing, Korea produces many of this products, so of course for Koreans is easy to get into the import business. Networking. But completely agreed that the beauty standards are ridiculous, not only for black women but for all women. If people do not buy = no market= no business. Period.

  • reading some of these comments is very sad! we need our own bussinesses! we can't compare to any other races because we have serious problems we need to address first instead of sweeping them under the rug u fucking cowards!in the famous words of pac! stop being pussies out there you here!

  • This is the STUPIDEST documentary I have ever seen. So Koreans own majority of black hair stores. And the problem is???? This is America and this is BUSINESS. So the Koreans have been smart in providing black consumers what they want and black folks are upset? And it is Koreans fault that other blacks haven't figured out that $ can be made in hair care? I will channel my 14 y.o brother and say what he always says "nigga please"

  • shut up!

they are denying blacks from working in their companies. they take away our money and don't give it back. koreans are also very racist.

this is coming from a black/korean girl. we can't grow if we have racists controlling our us.

  • No where did the documentary state that Koreans were "denying blacks from working in their companies". Take away our money? How so? Um, this is business. He have product, we buy. It is an exchange. What are you expecting them to do, sell us their products and give us our money back? WTF. I'll channel my brother again, "nigga please"

  • then before you start posting stuff, learn about Korean-Black relations.

  • It sounds like you have no idea what you are talking about but rather going off on tangent. Your comments have NOTHING to do with the issue at heart but rather but deep seated ignorance regarding koreans.

  • first off, i'm korean i would know.

    google korean-black relations.

  • this was 4 minutes of the documentary moron. If you watch the ENTIRE thing, he goes into great detail about how Koreans deny blacks on every level from retail to manufacturing.

  • Deny them what? exactly what do Koreans own African Americans. This is what is wrong with black America today. Black folks think they are entitled to whatever and they should be given special circumstances. What exactly do Koreans owe us?

  • Who said they owe us anything? I said that Korean Distributors DO NOT sell to black retailers (It's illegal to refuse to sell to someone on the basis of race) and korean distributors DO NOT sell to black retailers. We spent the entire 60's combating racism and the disenfranchisement of Black people. In 2009 why do we have this problem with another minority group. Free market is one thing, sabotaging an entire race for personal gain is another thing. So please kill that bourgie noise. Be fair

  • And they didn't get this foothold on the industry through sheer competition and capitalism. The united stated made a deal with Korea to help them become the number 1 exporters of hair and black hair chemical product, in an effort to shut out the Chinese. If the US want's to sell out their own citizens for personal gain, then fine but you can't blame Black people for seeing a problem with it. The problem with black america are the AA who shake their head at other black people and ignore facts.

  • i agree with wat ur saying, partially. But by saying Koreans are very racist, is as if ur saying all white man hates black ppl, it's bias and racist. But if a company is Korean "American" based, and they deny african american workers then that is wrong, but we are still all americans!

  • I am a Black person but I am HORRRIFIED by this documentary and the comments made. Instead of trying to close out and boycott fellow Americans we should be trying to help each other. How have we so easily forgotten how we were wounded by racial discrimination? That's what this is Black on Korean hate. Black people need to stand up, yes, but how will we be able to stand proud after turning others in the same way that we have been treated. My heart is in tears.

  • Aron,

Thank you for posting on myunofficialpr blog. I'd like to keep up with your work and future documentaries.

  • Comment removed

  • Things are really looking up for the Black community if they're getting pissed off about stupid shit like this. In a few years, black people are going to be protesting corporate coffee along with all the white hipsters.

  • Judging by your comment its obvious that

    A) You are not a member of the Black community ( but if you are your going though a serious identity crisis ..seek help ASAP! ) B) You have no idea of the economic power behind the black dollar. So you have no credibility to even post your foolishness on this topic ! Next !

  • I am suprised by the ignorant comments that I have read thus far. Some of you seem to understand and I am glad. But lets do more than understand, lets start a movement before the same racist unfair treatment is happening to our childen. I agree, I think a boycott is order and long overdue. I am going to check out this BOBSA organization, I've been looking for one like it for a long time and if it is legit I am going to get involved and I am going to spread the word. PLEASE BLACK PEOPLE STAND UP!

  • wow this is fcuking gay

    muck012

    your so freaking right

whats wrong with black people shopping at korean stores?

its black peoples fault they cant run a bussiness

    idc what people think

  • Running the business isn't the problem being ran out of business is .

  • Who did the Koreans run out of business? This BBS industry was created by the Koreans catering specifically to the black community. Before that u either went to the mom and pop drug store or paid higher prices at the BBsalons and specialty wig shops. It was the Koreans that risked going into the "hood" and figured out what combo of products would sell and at what prices/volume. And they also created the wholesale distribution. If u carved a niche in the market would u want 2 share?

  • Actually, the Koreans cater to the black community in lots of different areas. Grocery stores, shoe stores, clothing, car stereos, gold/jewelry, ect. They saw a gap in the market and filled it. They have also created the wholesale distribution of hip hop clothing, shoes, ect. This is nothing new. It's only a suprise to the hack documentarian who tells one quarter of the story.

  • please dont give me that bull crap about blacks dont know how to run a business. im pinay & black and on my black side my grandfather has owned his own grocery store & resturant for YEARSSSSSSSSS & its still in business! the problem is that these black hair shop owners are being ran out the business. & blacks need to protest! they get treated like shit by these korean shop owners & they still purchase from them SMH! if blacks were to open korean resturants the korean community would throw a fit!

  • if blacks were to open korean restaurants the korean community would throw a fit!

Why would they throw a fit?

  • Lawd..how did we get to this point??? Black people boycott!!!

  • ya'll being played. this video was made by a white guy.

  • Yeah, but it's real.

  • how? by portraying the koreans as the enemy, and blacks as victims? don't get it twisted. this is business, and those korean owners took a risk, entered a field no one else wanted to, and came out on top. how is it their fault?

  • No, I'm saying we black people never took up on it like we should have.

  • Not to sure if you watched the entire documentary but it stated how the Koreans would have unfair business practices and locking blacks out of certain things .

  • Watched it. Unfair is OK in business as long as it isn't illegal. And Koreans aren't just trying to lock Blacks out of their businesses. They are trying to lock everyone out of thier businesses(including each other). Koreans open up shop next to existing Korean shops all the time. It's so common, Korean business owners expect it. If you don't like it, oh well.

  • it's nothing personal, it's business.... i guess that saying goes perfect. i watched the whole documentary, and all i got was a sense of self-victimization disguised as empowerment, to discriminate against another minority. think about it. if koreans were racist, why would they serve the very people they seem to be, "hating,"?

  • to make money off of them DUH lol

come on ive been saying this for years! they come into black neighborhoods and open these shops and treat the black customer like shit! following them around "you touch you buy!"

black hair industry is a billion dollar a year industry! of course they are going to go where the money is at. yeah some might hate them but those same people that they hate R puttin money in their pockets..supporting them financially letting them push the benz

  • it is our faukt we dont have the 'business sense' but thats life!

What will be the next debate now, why white owned suppermarkets sell jerk seasoning??

  • Last time I checked this a free country - capitalism is the idol we worship. Anyone can open a store and with the right know-how, tenacity, and luck, they can usually succeed. What makes the difference though, I think, is how you go about running that business. I would presume Beauty Supply stores have pretty much the same items for sale, so the product in itself does not change. Its just how you go about SELLING. Being the son of Korean business owners myself...

  • (Cont'd), I know full well what hard cooperative efforts and strategies my parents utilized to become successful. Since the "first-generation" view themselves as outsiders, they banded together to become successful - its a group effort, where everyone plays a part, JUST LIKE A COMMUNITY SHOULD. Its not a racial issue - its about business tactics and how you go about DOING that business. It seems some are getting the idea now, but please, don't make it into Blacks vs. Koreans - thats so 1992.

  • Okay this makes me sick. Every minute that I watch my stomach turns more and more! How do these people sleep at night? Do they feel good knowing that they put thousands of good honest people who need jobs out of work? I hope the BOBSA takes them down! Again these people make me sick I barely made it though this documentary. I plan on buying the dvd from the website soon!

  • obviously the koreans are pretty smart

  • this is ridiculous. do they really think that we're gonna boycott all the korean owned shops. there's no way in hell i'm gonna do that. i don't care who the store is owned by i just want my stuff

  • are you african american ?

  • last i checked...yeah

  • cool! you have the most beautiful hair in the world:)

  • that just shows how you don't care about your people

  • you have the logic of a drug addict. i shop at korean stores so i hate black ppl. LOL!

  • who said anything about hate, see that just shows too. I guess if there was a black owned store you wouldn't go huh?

  • i apologize. i misread that.

where do you get the idea that i wouldn't go to a black owned business?

  • oh and wtf is the logic of a drug addict? explain me cause unlike you I don't hang around these people.

  • assuming that i don't care about my own ppl just because i go to a korean owned hair supplies store...that's the logic of a drug addict...connecting 2 things that have absolutely no connection what so ever.

  • Korean people stick together because they have a tight cultural bond. (earliest korean pottery apparently dates to 10,000 BC) Don't make this a race thing as everyone knows black people favor black people too. It all comes down to whether or not certain people are economically strong. Time to face the music.

  • @ginsengjin WERE GOING FACE THE MUSIC black owner were going take this to a level you never seen before yes where are the black people will re gain what theirs 100 percent in 10 years this will not be the same game

  • (Cyber Hair continued) The koreans belong to the Korean Association, of which provides funding for these retail outlets, they also pool thier resources to enable business growth & development. Back in the 90's a Chicago trucking company began to purchase truck loads of products, and distribute to the Korean retali outlets. There is a lesson to be learned, we must form strategic alliances, and provide collaborative solutions to our own problems. Cyber Hair (to be continue)
