I used to have a black russian terrier many years ago and would give anything to get another one. These dogs are loyal beyond belief. Mine was about 75-80cm (28-30 inches) tall and around 130lbs (58kg). Very poweful yet playful. When I first bought him as a pup I thought he was a giant schnauzer but by the time he was 2 he grew larger than any schaunzers in town. Then I found out he was RT. For anyone who owns this breed of dog, you are very lucky.
The wolves in this video reminded me of how dogs are actually supposed to act. This is how normal dogs also act if they haven´t had much contact with humans. We just always detrain our dogs to not act the way they naturally act and to be less submissive.
But then again, who cares as long as the dogs and owners are happy!
Holy mackerel, what kind of zoo is this that keeps wolves and bears together? Aren't they competitors in the wild? In this video, they are like friendly neighbors!
I have a 5 year old male and a 6 month female, they truly are great dogs (with good training). I find it surprising how the wolf is actually being submissive. Although i'm not surprised that the bears intimidates him. Nice video, thank you.
@PulkaSkurken Yep, we, owners of BRT are like owners of Lexus - once try, never want another brand (breed) :) And Sweden should be perfect for them. Regards to Baxter
Well, I dont know about shaved BRT :)) I have a feeling that it will look like a shaved sheep :))) Regarding comfortable temperatures I do know, that NRT like almost any other russian breed is optimized for temperatures from -30 to +30. Everything below-above is not comfortable, but you should try to speak to BRT owners from "warm" countries. Are there any BRT in Australia?
i live in australia and when i move out i would love to buy a BRT, mainly because I love russia and the dog is so big and unique. the only problem is, you said above 27C it suffers. it is always more hot than that here, will it be ok, or will i have to shave it?
Yep, they a very special breed of dog, very human-centric and objective-centric, they feel themselves more like a member of your family/pack, than like being a dog. Nowdays you can get it easily from abroad. From EU, its easy because of open borders and unified veterinary regulations, but originals come from mother Russia :)
But be careful - because of its black color it feels comfortable until 25-27C, above it it suffers. But ideal temperature for them is anything below 0 C. :)
awwww It wants to play with them lol

You are right, mate, in the wild there would be no fence to come up to :)
Well, I guess they are there to amuse people, it a kind of open-air zoo.
rolitr0n 1 year ago
in the wild them wolves wouldnt come up to the fence and neither would the bear ,
