It's just high-heart rate,

so you're not exhausted - you just have to breathe hard!

Plus you can tell he's fit BECAUSE he goes from such hard breathing to completely fine as soon as he slows down.

Plus the mic is right on his mouth, so it amplifies it a lot.

He returns so calm when he's back in the pit, but just some secons before he was breathing hard.

I don't know him, but I can imagine it could also be a voulonteering way of breathing, not only because of G-Force (never heard a driver do this before) but maybe to help him focussing on the track, breathing fast and light during corners like the way you accelerate and steer to control the car, or holding the breathe in the braking points to let it go in the exit of the corners... Is it possible?

no hes just withstanding a highly physical task. the gforces are rather high under braking!
