  • R.I.P. lol

  • I used to work with emma lol, lovely girl.. wonder where all the crew ended up??..

  • privet jet is soo much better if u want to see what a privet jet looks like go to vingio travel pick the first one

  • they only had 2 routes and from luton of all places! ya theres a gap in the market how are they doing now

  • @Aviationnation10 they ceased in 2008 lol

  • @adamboeing737 clap clap thats what i was saying

  • @adamboeing737 clap clap thats what i was saying

  • Maybe they had a gap in the market, but their was no market in the gap so they failed big time. It's why it went bust in 2007

  • I flew with privatair to new york with my brother in 2007. It was absolutely fantastic, good Service also

  • song at the start please im searching for it from years

  • How do you differentiate from the legacy airlines?were do you sit in term of yield and service level compared to your competitors? For sure you are not attracting leisure travelers,so your main customers are the legacy airlines business class, that will make silverjet in a fierce competition with the other classic airlines since they are picking their most profitable customers! This is very challenging for Silverjet to attract competitors loyal business travelers and specially keeping them!

  • ...And also, from the reviews and pictures i've seen, their product (seats, food, service, etc) were not up to standard with other carrier's business classes on the same routes, such as Virgin Atlantic and Delta Airlines.

Add to that the fact that you had to go to Luton, not Heathrow, and to Newark, not JFK, means that Silverjet was in fact not a particularly great idea. Certainly not value for money compared to other airlines, and maybe the reason they didn't last very long?

  • I don't agree with what Lawrence Hunt said in the begninng: "We are offering a product that would normally cost £3000 for £1000"

£3000 from London to New York would get you a first class ticket. Silverjet was business class, not first class. Business class flights on other carriers from London to New York cost between £700-£1800. So actually £1000 for a business class ticket on Silverjet is not that good value....

  • £700-£1800 would just be promo fairs - believe me, there are few tickets that cost that little.

  • Ok maybe the £700 i quoted was a promo fare. I just put searches through eBookers and Expedia, for LON - NYC (to include all airports) for a variety of dates. The cheapest were around £1000 (and there were quite a few airlines on different dates at that price)and the most expensive were around the £3500 mark. I guess £1000 on SJ was about the same as everyone else's prices. (Bearing in mind SJ's prices were £1000 and upwards)

But I still don't think they were any better value.

  • i saw the airport codes CIA & BJS on the wall, does that thean they were going to fly to these destinations?

  • Sad about Silverjet. I helped start an Asian airline a few years ago. It lasted only 6 years. Why? The company expanded too quickly with too many planes. Management did not understand the tremendous costs involved in the airline industry, particularly in technical service and maintenance. We bought new planes from Douglas. I believe Silverjet should have used the B-757 instead of 767. They might have survived due to the operational cost difference. We all learn from our mistakes.

  • I agree, i was just saying to my friend a few days ago that a 767 was too big for them. its such a shame that silverjet went, i suppose if they didnt go from luton also, and they went from STN maybe they would have turned a profit.

  • The Silverjet web site isn't showing any information about restarting services. If they are wise they will quit now. Fuel surcharges are so high now that they will only last another month or two.

  • bye bye!!

  • LOL silverjets run out of money now!

  • goodbye silverjet

  • Byebye silverjet, dont´t let the door hit your ass on the way out. I feel for the staff but am so glad that Martyn bridger managed to ruin another company and is now unemployed. Serves you right for trying to be clever and stealing the BA Face ad´from the 80´s.

  • I'm with you on that, Martyn Bridger deserved everything for trying to be a smart ass and taking the mick out of the BA ad.... Silverjet, BYE!

  • They should re-start operations within the next few days, they got some boost from a swiss company.

  • They cannot fill a plane as big as an a340 or 777 and the runway at Luton is too short for it. The a330 might be a choice.

However Silverjet is a brilliant airline with top class service.

  • luton can gave 747s so that's not the reason yh ok they wouldn't fill them though.

  • Sounds to good to be true!

  • I can find only one thing wrong with this airline.

It doesn't fly to Kuala Lumpur.

  • Another thing, its ceased operations.

  • Its a shame

  • EOS has First Class. This increases fares on Business Class.

Silverjet is a Budget Business Class Airline.

  • Then it shouldnt be classed as anall-buisness class airline. the fares are about double the price......

  • Thats the thing.

  • Don't people who fly business or first class enjoy the fact that there are people struggling behind them in the cattle market?

  • No. In fact that doesn't even matter to them.

  • Hello???? THE PRICE!!!!!! EOS is alot more.....

  • I had the nices meal i have ever had on there planes.

  • Great Airline cant beat it

  • they need to update their fleet from Boeing 767 to Airbus fleet E.G. Airbus A330 or A340-200 or maybe a Boeing 777

  • They operate out of Luton - I don't think the runways long enough for an A330 (i might be wrong tho)

  • I actually hope you're wrong. No offense meant though.

  • Luton can accept 747s, It happened a few years ago.

  • OK fair enough, but arre they full with fuel and passengers, bags etc?

  • zes they are

  • What about A380s?

  • dont think so

  • The thing is most Airlines are unloading the 767 and the 767 is fairly cheap to purchase because of it's age and because it's not the most fuel efficient mid range aircraft. I highly doubt Silverjet, a new startup which has a very niche market, can afford a 777 or even a A330 just yet.

  • Nicely branded and marketing but a bit OTT to be projecting city codes for airports around the globe when this airline has one operational plane and flies only one route. Still, nicer presentation than Maxjet or Eos.

  • Seems like the management team have good communication skills and are good at selling the airline, even the financial controller! Shame about starting off talking about it being cheap(er) rather than differentiating from the main transatlantic airlines as well as being cheaper.

  • yep. Impressive- havong flown with Silverjet its not surprising to see such a profesional team sitting behind this first class airline and travel experience from lounge to aircraft/service etc. AND they are leading the race through their carbon responsible attitude. Well done Silverjet.

    Good one Silverjet

  • Am watching these guys now. Clever bananas.

  • These guys seem very honest about their business, which is usually a very good thing.
