I have been looking for this song for a couple of years. Couldn't remember who sang it or what it was called - I could only remember the opening words and every time I googled them I got a Beatles song (that wasn't it). Brings back many memories of going down to Station Pier in Melbourne in the 70's and seeing the old UK-Aust liners leaving and all the streamers being thrown.

I've been trying to remember this song for decades and I've finally found it! I traveled on the the P & O liner the Canberra from Sydney to Durban in November 1971 and the song and video bring back great memories of that adventure I had as a very young man now so very long ago.

I've always thought Kevin Johnson was a very underrated singer/ songwriter. I had a great LP of his years ago which had some wondeful songs on it, my favourite was a ripper called 'Someday Sam'. I would love to get hold of that song today. Thanks for sharing this one.

@theoldgalah Thanks. I can't swear to it but I think Mr Johnson's songs featured a lot on an obscure 70s/80s film called "Magee & The Lady" starring Tony Lo Bianco & Sally Kellerman... could've even been this song!! Still, I like it too!!
