Hi Iain... Jimmy is playing Taylor 910CE-L7 (Brazilian rosewood, spruce top), Val playing Taylor 855 (Indian rosewood, spruce top). Val also has a Taylor 910CE 6-string (Indian rosewood, spruce top) and now uses a Custom Build Taylor Jumbo 12-string (Cocobolo with sunburst spruce top) that we bought as a wedding present while at Taylor. We have Elixir nanoweb light gauge strings on them all.
Good to hear, Jivauk. I can understand your focus on the technology! It would have been special to sing this to each other. I assume you are playing Taylor guitars. I'd love to know what models. I enjoy the music of Richard Thompson. He puts a great deal of focus on interpreting the words. He uses the the music and guitar just as a means to achieving this.
Lovely - the guitars work well together. I just get the feeling that you are just singing the lyrics without interpreting them - no shaping or dynamics at all. For example when you sing the line 'just got to get back home to you...' there is no 'emotion' visually, or in the sound. It looks like you'd rather not 'get back home'! Hope you don't mind my honesty!
@gatheringdusk Thanks very much for your comment. We don't mind at all - honest critique is the best way to improve. This was our first video with a brand new camera, and we (Jimmy especially) were thinking too much about the tech gizmo side, rather than the song/performance.
2 months after this was shot we sang the song to each other as part of our wedding ceremony at Taylor Guitars, USA, and the song has become even more special to us - hopefully this is reflected in our live performances.
