thats pretty sick specially when you were testing how flat it was and the heatsink picked it up.. i know the q6600 is old but i may lap mine and get a fan for it been using stock on normal settings and my temps are at 42c idle.... =/ seems bad though only thing i do heavy on it is load up wow.
Truefully i can't remember exactly before but i do remember on OCCT test @ 2.8Ghz idle 49 load 73... now @ 3.0Ghz average idle 43 load 63 on OCCT... very pleased how it turned out...
before idle 2.8Ghz @ 49c now it drop down to 33c... now thats in the Bios... i have just installed vista 64bit... updating everything right now also need to get core temp... i well get back at the true answer within a few hours...
sometimes you have to be careful with forums i tested th zalman base in a laboratory in my university using an X ray technic and it's just 0.5 % not flat in the edges
Woow! Good JOB!

I've read in some forums that the Zalman heat sink is not as flat and has slight curves. I had time to wast so i just sanded down the heat sink also.

So what were the Load and Idle temp differences between not lapped cpu and cooler and lapped ones? Thinkin on lapping my E8500 (E8600) CPU tomorrow.

whats the point of trying to get the cpu to stick to the heat sink at the end of the video? lol magnet?
saudikid 3 years ago
When both surfaces are perfectly flat, they should momentarily stick together, due to the air pressure... something like that

Think it has to do with the atoms binding, check up "johansson passbitar" for more info.

Gratz on a successful first lap job, nice to see it turned out great. What kind of temp drops are you getting from this??
