@JamesSS69RS Those are the tips that came with my LM1. I bought the cat back in late 2004 so perhaps they changed since then. I am running cats so that could contribute to the "quietness" ;)
I installed the headers myself. You don't have to remove the steering column. You only need to drop the steering rack to separate the steering knuckle. It took me 5 hours with a helper
dude headers are easy to install on the gto Its WIDE open under there even with that huge ass motor. Shouldnt take 5 hours by your self and dont need to drop steering rack.
you do need to unbolt the steering rack. to install the driver side header, some systems require removal of the floor brace as well, AND it also helps to remove the nut on the driver side motor mount and jack the motor up a couple inches. clearly, you do not know squat about installing headers on a gto.
Hey, nice car, sounds awesome! You said you drove to Houston to get the cam installed, I have questions. Do you live around the Houston area, if you don't mind me asking? I live in Beaumont. Also, where did you get the work done, I am looking for somewhere to take my Camaro ? Thanks.
Thanks man. Yes I drove to Houston to have the cam installed, but I don't live in the area. The place that did the work was Horsepower Engineering (HPE). I think they are a sponsor of many of the ls1 websites. They did good work and fast. Dropped the car off in the morning and it was tuned and ready to go by that evening.
but ,, could u tell me is there any diffrerent in gsaloine after u put the cam ,,, imean is it consume a lot of gasoline ,, if yes ,, is it noticeable or not ,,, thanx bro and good luck
Actually my highway MPG stayed about the same. I drove up to Houston to have my cam installed and the MPG was same on the way up as after the install.
They are CCW SP500's (google Complete Custom Wheel)and Kuhmo Ecsta Supras. I'm running 18X8.5 in the front and 18X10 in the back. Yes, I did have to roll the fenders a bit, but nothing major. Let me know if you have any other questions.
do you get more power with higher lift?
ibanezkid07 1 year ago
what are the specs on the cam? and what kind of power are you making?
zdeckich 1 year ago
@zdeckich it is 224/228 duration; .600/.600 lift; on a 111 LSA.....It made 380 to the wheels with headers, CAI, and cat back.

are those the stock tips? i was wanting to go with 3'' but was tols they wouldnt fit
zdeckich 1 year ago
@zdeckich those are the tips that came with the SLP Loudmouth catback (not stock)
mountaw 1 year ago
@zdeckich Thats the same thing I thought. Those tips look nothing at all like what I got with my LM1. Way to quiet for that setup as well.

Dude...you know absolutely SQUAT about installing headers on a GTO.
HarleyDavidson88 3 years ago
and thats why im a certified mech and your not
usmcpitboy 3 years ago
Nope...I'm not a mechanic. I'm a just mechanical engineer that's installed numerous sets of headers on GTO's.
P.S. It's "you're"...not "your"

word, i dont even think this guy has been under one. Its not hard, just time consuming.

Sweet. Thanks for the reply
brockmirabella 4 years ago
What are the specs on that cam? Sounds like a mid 220 duration.
SpecialKLSX 4 years ago 2
Good guess! It's 224/228 duration, .600 lift, and 111 LSA from Flowtech Induction. For a small cam I made about 80 rwhp with cam only no heads.
mountaw 4 years ago
A cammed 5.7L only made 80whp? You got ripped off on that tune! Stock LS1s make 300whp. What a shame... =-Þ
