I haven't played this since 1999. That's when Tribes2 came out I think, and the servers pretty much went empty. I didn't know there was even still a following. I remember being one of literally only two people playing on the USA servers - deathmatch on an annihilation mod. Long live the fps multiplayer king!

this game is excellent. i got "Starsiege Tribes 1.11 - Fully patched XP/Vista compatible" from kick-ass torrents, extracted to hard drive,right clicked" t1vista.exe".>run in compatability mode as vista service pack 2 and as administrator and it works perfectly in windows 7 64 bit! just add server as detailed by liquid friction in this video's description.

@LiquidFriction Dude! I remember this fcking game. It was amazing back in the 2000. I was about 14 years old then and my mother had a gateway computer. I would play the demo for hours on a 56k dial-up connection. Those were the days.
Tribes 2 sucked compared to Tribes 1. T1 was much quicker and flowing where as t2 constantly felt like you was in heavy armor when you was really in light.
I agree with CyKoPathik12. Macs are just overpriced PC's and only popular because they have not been targeted by Black Hat's as much as windows. Linux or winblows on a PC or your overpaying for a brand name.

@rockmanmegamanfan You're right, its a quality game, way ahead of its time and even in today's standard it still is. As for tribes this day in age, it's still active and going as far as I know, I haven't played in about 6 months. Server list of coarse isn't what it was 10 or even 5 years ago but there's still about 50 servers and always at least a couple populated servers. Still plenty of hard core tribers out there that will never let this game die :)

I just joined a ctf type match for the first time in years a few moments ago; it was the most depressing thing I've seen this month. Grappling hooks, expanded class choice (lol, yeah right) and trinkets of mines everywhere. What the fuck! This isn't Garry's Mod. Try and show a little respect to the loyal fans.
If you're playing Tribes to change it, you were never interested in the game in the first place. Which is pretty ridiculous. Anyone who still gives a shit about this game would rather it have died with the master server instead of zombiefied by some nerd who'd rather be playing Deathmatch in every single fps game he gets his dirty hands on; thus ruining the game for everyone else.
How is making a mod for a game ruining the game for everyone else (which this game has been modded pretty much from day 1)? Some of the mods just make the game that much better, supplying more deployments and resources to defend your flags thus taking more of a tactical approach to defeat the opposing team. No one is forcing you to play on a modded server, if you want to play vanilla tribes, play a base server. Out of all the years I've played tribes, you're the first one complaining about mods.
- "The Laser Rifle CAN NOW BE USED BY ALL ARMOUR TYPES."
-" The ELF Gun has an INCREASED RANGE and RATE OF DAMAGE."
-"Targeting Lasers NO LONGER have an energy requirement. They are also part of basic spawn equipment."

You are destroying the balance to this game. Gradually it is loosing all restrictions and becoming a game with no rules. Next thing you know you'll ditch the energy bar and implement flying.
Lol at "tactical approach". You are leaving no room for tactics by making the game more accessible for everyone. Tactics are about seeing what you cannot do in a situation, and finding a solution. Modders are emptying Tribes of said boundaries and making it boring.
I have never heard of Vanilla mod in all my years playing tribes. To your 1st question, it's the reason why the loyal fanbase has left. It does NOT ruin the game for people with no standards. People such as yourself.
Do I really have to explain to you what Vanilla is? I suppose I'll have to. Vanilla = Plain = unmodded out of box game play. I've never even heard of this "Hard Corps" mod. I will agree to some extent that some mods were over the top, but, there were also some that were very good. If all you liked to do was fly around with a disk launcher, that's cool, but obviously you're just here to troll and voice your opinion as fact so just get on with your life, it's a 12 year old game.
What are you talking about, retard? I feel a little dumb for believing you at first. There are plenty of "Vanilla Base" type maps (I just checked this) that are modded out the wazoo. There was one, and ONLY one server that followed the root game type (no weapon mods, speed change etc) while keeping old maps like Raindance and shit. No one was playing in them. The rest, however, have been fucked up by the hosts. Of course I could host my own, but that does not excuse the tampering here.
God, I remember playing this game years ago on my horrible 200 mhz computer. It was one of the only games I could play that had a great frame rate. I played it up until they took the servers down.. which is sad. Because that was when I was 12, now I'm 24...

Tribes = The Legendary , Unforgettable , Unimitatable , Uncopiable and without a doubt the best game of FPS to ever face the planet Earth . It just , undescribable how good this game is . @rockmanmegamanfan You're right, its a quality game, way ahead of its time and even in today's standard it still is. As for tribes this day in age, it's still active and going as far as I know, I haven't played in about 6 months. Server list of coarse isn't what it was 10 or even 5 years ago but there's still about 50 servers and always at least a couple populated servers. Still plenty of hard core tribers out there that will never let this game die :)

Oh well , you're right about that it's way ahead of its time and graphic might not be greatest , but I still like em . Kids these days just whine about the graphic and I don't get it . I am going to have to give this game a go again. Even after all these years it is still one of my favorite games I have played. Along with Delta Force, it was one of the first online games I ever tried for PC. This thing is legend.

Is this game choked to death by the modding community, or does it have a solitary original game type left? All these stupid new additions are turning ST into Half Life Deathmatch.
I just joined a ctf type match for the first time in years a few moments ago; it was the most depressing thing I've seen this month. Grappling hooks, expanded class choice (lol, yeah right) and trinkets of mines everywhere. What the fuck! This isn't Garry's Mod. Try and show a little respect to the loyal fans.

If you're playing Tribes to change it, you were never interested in the game in the first place. Which is pretty ridiculous. Anyone who still gives a shit about this game would rather it have died with the master server instead of zombiefied by some nerd who'd rather be playing Deathmatch in every single fps game he gets his dirty hands on; thus ruining the game for everyone else.

How is making a mod for a game ruining the game for everyone else (which this game has been modded pretty much from day 1)? Some of the mods just make the game that much better, supplying more deployments and resources to defend your flags thus taking more of a tactical approach to defeat the opposing team. No one is forcing you to play on a modded server, if you want to play vanilla tribes, play a base server. Out of all the years I've played tribes, you're the first one complaining about mods.

You are destroying the balance to this game. Gradually it is loosing all restrictions and becoming a game with no rules. Next thing you know you'll ditch the energy bar and implement flying.

Lol at "tactical approach". You are leaving no room for tactics by making the game more accessible for everyone. Tactics are about seeing what you cannot do in a situation, and finding a solution. Modders are emptying Tribes of said boundaries and making it boring.
I have never heard of Vanilla mod in all my years playing tribes. To your 1st question, it's the reason why the loyal fanbase has left. It does NOT ruin the game for people with no standards. People such as yourself.

Do I really have to explain to you what Vanilla is? I suppose I'll have to. Vanilla = Plain = unmodded out of box game play. I've never even heard of this "Hard Corps" mod. I will agree to some extent that some mods were over the top, but, there were also some that were very good. If all you liked to do was fly around with a disk launcher, that's cool, but obviously you're just here to troll and voice your opinion as fact so just get on with your life, it's a 12 year old game.

What are you talking about, retard? I feel a little dumb for believing you at first. There are plenty of "Vanilla Base" type maps (I just checked this) that are modded out the wazoo. There was one, and ONLY one server that followed the root game type (no weapon mods, speed change etc) while keeping old maps like Raindance and shit. No one was playing in them. The rest, however, have been fucked up by the hosts. Of course I could host my own, but that does not excuse the tampering here.

God, I remember playing this game years ago on my horrible 200 mhz computer. It was one of the only games I could play that had a great frame rate. I played it up until they took the servers down.. which is sad. Because that was when I was 12, now I'm 24...

Just search for Tribes 1.30 Vista on Google
You should be able to find the .exe that fixes the compatibility problem. If you can't find it, just pm me :)
