  • Great video..only wish I knew how to make that batter! By the way...I think we have the same deep fryer.

  • @xForTheRepublic The recipe is always below the video. Just click "show more."

    --Betty :)

  • so we dry the onion before we put them tin the batter? is the batter suppose to drip alot?

  • @mizZLaoblUe Yes, the batter will drip; just let it drip on a plate or paper towel before transferring the onion to the hot oil. It will have plenty of batter still on it!

    --Betty :)

  • My batter does'nt really stick to the onion. Why is that?

  • @mizZLaoblUe Your onions may be too wet. Dry them with paper towel.

    --Betty :)

  • can you make these onion rings without a egg wash? i'm allergic to eggs :$

  • @ilovemystubbynails1 Yes, you may dip them in milk.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen I noticed after I wrote the comment, but thanks for the information. ;D

  • whats the batter?

  • @chrisypierre The batter is what you dip the onion rings in before cooking. You will find the complete recipe with the video. Just click "show more."

    --Betty :)

  • could i just use regular flour?

  • @Nikolaika77 Yes, the results will be a little different, but it will be good!

    --Betty :)

  • you make so much fried food but your so thin how lol?! :)

  • @kool001ify We don't eat a lot of fried food, and when I fry food I try to drain it very well.

    --Betty :)

  • Nice :) But I had no idea what self-rising flour was, before I googled it;

"For each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt." Is that how u do it?

  • @schnor88 Yes, that's right!

    --Betty :)

  • You really need your own cooking show. I would def watch.

    --Betty :)

  • betty rules thx for showing how to make onion rings

  • Okay, here goes! It was time for my kids' lunch, and I was browsing for something quick and easy to make to go alongside, so I found this vid. I JUST watched it and then went to make it, and my kids practically killed it on the spot (translation: they LOVED it!)! I didn't have any cocktail sauce on hand, and had to resort to ye ole ketchup, but it was all good! I'll be adding this to my rotation of recipes. Thanks so much for this upload!

  • @umm23h Thanks for your great feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Thank you so much for your video!!! I can't wait to make these, they looked delicious and you where so organized \[^u^]/

  • @rpwif3y Thanks for your sweet comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • I like this a lot. Easy to follow and straight to the point; other than some of the other disorganized (and thus pointless) cooking vids on YouTube *cough*expertvillage*cough*. Thank you, Miss Betty.

Btw, here's another tip. To keep them crispier for a bit longer, tap them with towels as you said, then place them on a non-stick (preferably aluminum or stainless steel) cooling rack. The cool air will surround the coating and help firm everything up without allowing excess oil to 'pool'. =)

  • what's your batter made of?!?

  • @chloridecrystals Please click the down arrow or "more info" to see the full recipe for any video in bettyskitchen.

    --Betty :)

  • I googled onion rings and there you were. I knew your recipe had to be the best.

    I love Betty's Kitchen.

  • Can i use corn masa mix?

  • @HedleyMusic4Ever I'm not sure about that, because I have never tried it. You might want to experiment with it.

    --Betty :)

  • i'm hungry for some of it!! yumm!!

  • I want to give you a hug for making those!

  • u remind me of sandra lee except she is kinda annoying u seem very sweet

  • I must say, THESE ARE LIKE THE BEST ONION RINGS EVER. Cant put it another way, simply FANTASTIC! 10/10

  • Where is the batter for this?

  • @mikeandgore Look for "more info" or a down arrow. Click that and you will see the whole recipe!

    --Betty :)

  • thanks! you should be on the food channel for the way you speek and cook.... you speek with kindess wich i love about cooks like bare foot contessa...

  • dont union rings need bread crums to make it crispy and delish....?????

  • @xxmike7001xx There are lots of different coatings. The one here is really nice, but there are some nice ones with bread crumbs, panko bread crumbs, cracker crumbs, cornmeal mix, etc.--it's just up to your taste!

    --Betty :)

  • the onions being dry, does that help the batter stick to the rings? Made some a few nights ago when i set em in the oil the batter sort of driped ot one side of the rings and the other side was near bare onion, and could we add season to flour before mixing egg and cold water?

  • these are really good recipes! im heading to the store now to get onions and zuccini! thanks so much for the recipes! and just a little tip maybe these would be better with bread crumbs! thats what im going to use!

    thanks again

  • DAMN BETTY IS HOT HAHAHA!

  • haha i love how you are ont he top of my toutube when i search a recipe...im making filet mignon steaks with your baked potato fan recipe with these onions rings..youre the best!

  • How did you make the batter for this? :)

  • @TndD253 Click the down arrow and you will see the complete recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • Awesome video would love to try them with Hot Sauce.

  • I knew it! I knew you were going to fry up those zucchini! Now, all you need to do is deep fry some pickles and muschrooms, and then I will be set! Ooops, can't forget about the eggplant!

  • They look delish :) Awesome video Betty!

  • nice video

  • Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • onion rings are pretty fatty but I´d eat those until my heart stops beating because they look so good.

  • Actually, if you drain these really well and pat them with a paper towel, they're pretty dry. (They don't leave grease on you fingers.) They are healthier if you bake them in the oven, but my philosophy is that you need to have small portions of foods you really like occasionally, and then eat healthily for the rest of you meals. Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • could i just use regular flour instead of self rising flour?

  • Yes, regular all purpose flour will be fine!

    --Betty :)

  • thank you! :)

  • Betty, first of all I'd like to complement you on your presentation skills. You do a nice job of explaining how to do your recipes, not too fast, not too slow.

  • Thanks so much for your nice comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Mmm these look lovely! Must try them for hubby xx

  • I hope you enjoy them!

    --Betty :)

  • That sure looks reeeaaalll good to me! And the onion rings look ok too.

  • Thanks for both compliments!

    --Betty :)

  • i just subscribed because i dont no how to cook and u seem to be a good cook

  • Thanks for your comment and for subscribing!

    --Betty :)

  • Oh, God, it looks absolutely wonderful. My mouth is watering right now.

I'll be making that VERY soon.

  • I hope the onion rings were great!

    --Betty :)

  • My batter slides off the onion ring. What's your trick that it stays on?

  • The main problem is that the onion rings may not be dry enough. After cutting them into slices and separating them, be sure to use a paper towel to remove any moisture--then the batter will stick! Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • I think you should put breadcrumps with the rings }

(1st): Put beadcrumbs with the batter.

    Then it will become nicer:)

(2nd):You an either also put hot sauce or tabassco sauce.

  • Those are great ideas! Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • do i seprate the egg whites from the egg yolk or the yellow part or somesomething

  • No, don't separate the eggs, just beat them with an electric mixer, or by hand until foamy. Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • do you have to use self rising flour or any kind of flour

  • Any kind of flour will do. Thanks for asking!

    --Betty :)

  • Wow - that was quick! What kind of cooking pot is that?

  • It's called a "Frd Daddy." There are newer versions of fry pots available. I got this one years ago. The new ones are much nicer! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • how many rings should i make?

  • I would allow about an onion and a half per person.

    --Betty :)

  • no prob :DD

  • well atleast i know what im doing for super bowl....it will be fun

  • These will be wonderful for the super bowl! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty

    --Betty :)

  • Hi,

there she goes again.... Betty, the cooking tornado!

I'll make a batch and serve it on my next Movie night with 'da Boys'

Looks like it goes real well with a cold beer and the latest Batman DVD...

    No girls allowed! ;-)

    Thank you Betty, you Rock!

  • Thank you! I like your plans!!!

    --betty :)

  • Thank you for sharing your recipes with us. How do you stay that thin while cooking that well? Who eats your delicious looking food?

  • I eat the type of foods I make--but only in small portions! My husband loves to eat the continually changing menu, but we do have to freeze or refrigerate leftovers quite often. I just heat them up when I don't want to cook! It comes out about right! We don't like to waste food! I am very careful about the calories in the food I eat. I try to pick ingredients with reduced fat/sugar, but, if it's high in fat/sugar, I will eat it--only just a small portion! Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • As a Brit, am asking are onion rings a common grocery product in USA? Might vary throughout the country so am asking anyone here, not just Betty! Only cos I've never heard of them other than at Burger King - yuk! But yours Betty look mouth watering! x

  • Yes, they are a common grocery product--you can buy the in the frozen foods section and just microwave or heat them in the oven! Very common! Homemade onion rings are the best, but most people don't take the time to do that! --Maybe I've inspired some people to try them at home!

    --Betty :)

  • they look so crispy :o

  • They are crispy and tasty! It's a good batter. Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I LOVE onion rings! Those look delicious!

  • These have a really good batter--which you can obviously use on just about anything you want to deep-fry! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I am so making this tonight and im only 13!* lol :)

  • I hope they turn out great! Please be very careful with the hot oil! I always use extra caution myself!

    --Betty :)

  • look delicious

  • Thanks! This is just another item you can deep fry and get a *great* flavor! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • They look delicious! I do the same as you when it comes to blotting fried food with a paper towel. I hate all of that excess grease so it makes me feel better (and healthier!) to get as much of that off as possible. Thanks for sharing Betty =)

  • You're welcome! Yes, I blot everything--even pizza! I don't believe in just cutting out categories of food altogether, but when you fix them at home, you can lessen the fat a lot! Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I've never had the peppers,,but I do like the onion rings! I'll have to try the peppers sometime. I use Tempura batter for deep frying most of the time.

Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I always enjoy watching your recipes,,Hope you enjoy this beautiful day, my beautiful friend! ;)

  • Thank you, Mera! You are such a dear friend to watch my videos--there are so many of them! I hope you get an opportunity to try the banana peppers. They are considered to be a real treat in the area where I live (KY). Have a wonderful day, Mera--and thanks again!
