judging by the description, this animation was maybe made for a tech class in school. Its not like the animator had their entire life to make this, it was probably made under a time limit. And this isnt a copyright violation. It would be a copyright violation if the animator was actually taking credit for the strip or making money off of it. since they had to pick a comic strip, some author is going to get their comic strip animated, or else they would have make their own strips

None of that is true. Watterson did indeed consider animating Calvin and Hobbes. He only said it would be scary to hear Calvin's voice. But he openly expressed admiration for the art form. That is well documented.

The 10th anniversary book only says that Watterson liked the idea that his strip was a one-man operation, not that hating animation and didn't want it.

Your comments on rapping Mozart (people have done it with Handel's Messiah), or graphic noveling Shakespeare is the matter of taste.
