i was in the area around 1:30 - 2:00. i was making a delivery when i worked at lowes, coworker said, "here it comes." i didn't believe him so i looked out the window. i saw nothing but white then before i knew it i was cut up by glass and everything was demolished. so i turned around and continued installing the lady's washer. lol
@DayDreamAscent, if such a being were capable of creating life, galaxies, etc., don't you think that the complexity of the being would be such a mystery that not even its own creation would ever understand? Not trying to hit out on you or anything, just a thought.
I did disaster relief in this town just over the bridge from this neighborhood last week. Im thankful for those who made it out alive, and I continually pray for the families of those who didnt. Its gonna take awhile to rebuild.
At 1:12, you can see where the tornado was really on the ground for the first time. My wife worked on that block. The building she worked in is the one immediately left of the severe damage. Luckily, thankfully, they decided to leave early because of the potential for rough weather coming in. The building might still be standing, but it had major roof damage and the inside looks like a giant stirred it a couple of times with a spoon.
Im in Hartselle...I was worried The cullman tornado would of hit us. But it didnt i have no idea how it didnt hit. i seen so many reports and everything, before our power went out. God blessed us that Hartselle didnt get it. The souls that was taken during the storm, you will be missed greatly i lost 2 friends during the whole tornado outbreak. I will miss them greatly.
for the first time in my life, I am proud to call Cullman my home. Cullman has always been just the boring old dull nothing to do place. This tornado proved me and everyone else wrong. This town is composed of very special people. The damage we recieved is said to be equivelent to hurricane katrina, yet they are still cleaning up. Within about a week our community came together and we are able to return to school and have power. It was a pleasure working beside everyone that I did.
At the end of this video is Eastside Baptist Church where Cullman Christian School was. If the city and county had not cancelled school that day, many children would have been injured or killed. I want to thank them for their wisdom and courage to make those tough decisions!
I never want to participate in any tornado again. I was in the back of Cracker Barrel when this tornado struck but later that evening a torndo hit our neighboor hood.
@1cwoodall you can no longer help clean up anymore because the roads && stuff have been blocked off but you can Go to the Cullman fairgrounds && volunteer on feeding the people or helping them sort through clothes. I helped out yesterday && it was a great experience.
This is where I was born. It's where I had my son almost 4 years ago. My dad, aunts and uncles still live here. It makes me so sad to see so much of the town gone :( I'm praying for the families that are having to rebuild not only their houses but their lives after this horrible storm. If anyone can do it, it's this community!
My mother grew up in Cullman and although we lived in Arkansas, we visited there twice a year to see my relatives. My parents were married in First Baptist, and watching this video made me cry like a baby.
my family lives in jones chapel they got power today. everybody is safe and my cousin had her baby that night. when my family was here in Granville Illinois we also had a terrible tornado go thru our town also was a state of emergency but cullmans Is 1000x worse. thanks for the reality check maybe more people will notice this instead of that stupid wedding!
thank you for posting this video. I have family there-- and very concerned because we haven't been able to get through by phone to them. My Aunt Mo lives in Good Hope area and the maps I saw showed that her area/community was in the redzone of the debrisball of the tornado.
@AskCrisDelgado If you haven't gotten through yet I can tell you Good Hope isn't bad at all. I just left there today and the storms missed Good Hope by a mile or so.
Why is this so bad this year? were there more tornados? or were there bigger and stronger tornados? or is this in a new area where there werent communities a few years ago and some developer decided to build in tornado alley? there must be a reason.
my heart aches for those that were affected by the massive storm the worst damage the storm left at my house was a small branch in the yard but that's nothing compared to how many homes and businesses were leveled and how many lives were lost in this great state. All I can do is to thank God that my family wasnt hurt or really affected. I do pray that God will bring healing to all those affected by this horrible catastrophy and maybe one day soon a sense of normalcy will return to Alabama.
I can't believe with all of the devastation and death some people are using vulgar language on here. It just makes me sick. People are so rude and nasty these days.
The soul of Cullman as said by Hank Williams Jr. is "We say Grace and we say Ma'am, and if you aint into that we don't give a damn...Country Folks will Survive". Watch and learn with amazement how these folks re-build and move forward.
I can't look at a single image of this without pointing out where a friend of mine used to live, used to work, used to shop or do business, used to go to church...
Praise be to God. Even in this storm. I'm alive. My family is alive. And my town and community is more than a few buildings. A fraction of what we used to know no longer stands. But we haven't lost a single step of what really stands on the Rock.
@thelifeofaJonathon I'm trying to reach a friend of mine who lives in Cullman, but we can't reach her via phone and she hasn't been online. She's in the 1200 block of Oak Drive NE, do you know if that's an area that was hit badly? =(
@TiryaC , friend, I'm 5000 miles away in Italy studying right now. I'm still trying to reach everyone that I know, but I can't even call. I live there and I can't do a thing for my town. I know how you must be feeling.
The only thing I can tell you is that I have a friend who lives in the area and she is fine. Perhaps your friend is alright as well. When you hear from him, I would love for you to let me know as well. You brought them a little dear to me by asking.
@thelifeofaJonathon so happy you guys are ok and finding strength in God! I don't live in Cullman but I love it there!! we were in the process of purchasing a mobile home there at Star Homes which luckily is still standing and the people are okay! so sorry for all the homes and businesses lost :( i was happy to know that the courthouse was still standing, it's such a beautiful building. :)
@henrysbaby08 -Cullman does have lots of space and I am certain they will do alright. the people are really incredible. However I do hope I get down there. Iwish I were there to help but they have it under control it seems.
@thelifeofaJonathon Answer me this one question. You thank God when your family survives something like this but never - ever - condemn him for the fact he slaughtered others less fortunate than yourself.
@DayDreamAscent ...this storm is a result of the sin that Adam and Eve committed in the Garden of Eden...when they fell it did more than make us sinners...it changed everything.
There were no tornado's, earthquakes, hurricanes or any destructive weather in God's perfect world.
But Adams sin started a chain reaction that will only be fixed when Jesus comes back to rule this earth for 1000 years in the very near future! Are you prepared to meet him?

@SteveGLS I absolutely refuse to discuss anything ever again with someone who has an invisible friend. You really are impossible to talk to. As I once said on another video, if I gave you irrefutable and 100% factual evidence that your God was a myth, you'd simply reply "The devil put that evidence there to test our faith". You cannot win a debate with someone who has an invisible friend - they think he's there, I don't.
@DayDreamAscent The entire city of New York celebrated the death of a man named Osama Bin Laden. Al-Qaeda and their religious radicalists celebrated the day they struck my country and killed thousands. I had to watch as they put my little 8 year old sister in the ground when I was only 11.
Death is something that happens. I thank God for the good things. In everything else, I seek to help and to remind everyone that the good will come through in the end. Always has. I thank God for that.
@thelifeofaJonathon So tell me. Since Israel kills 7 times as many Palestinians as the other way around, and over 11 times as many children and since every bullet used was paid for by the USA, do you condemn that too?
Because my guess is when you say "God", you really mean "your personal, national and political interests".
@DayDreamAscent Did I once say I condemned a single thing? I'm not exactly certain what you are fighting for, since you declared yourself an aetheist a few comments down, but I can't even grammatically, much less literally thank my interests for anything that happens in this life or the next, good or bad; I'm a human. I'm saved, but I'm still human. God battles for my case, however.
My guess is that when you say "aetheist" you just want to fight against believing in something. How come?
@thelifeofaJonathon No, I want to be what I am, an adult that doesn't have imaginary friends watching over me. Your God will go the same way as the 8,000 Gods before him. Thor, Odin, Neptune, all of them. What I don't want is your imaginary friend being included in any sensible laws, or governing what adults may or may not do. That's all.
@DayDreamAscent If your war is against an Infinite, Almighty God, then I really do wish you the best. You'll need it, friend.
May God bless you in everything that you do, in every turn of every page of your life, and in everything that comes your way. All the Love and Joy of Heaven be yours. May angels guide you and may you be wise in all things and in favor with God and with men.

I'm 15 and this is and was so heart breaking!
The late night with family and friends are in ruins.
The town I've spent 15 years in in ruins!
God did this to bring us together, to make us stronger, not to turn our backs on each other.
May God bless you in these hard times and shall we get through this without a war!
Thank you God for the lives saved on April 27, 2011 but may the ones lost rest in piece.
