no hes chinese. you can kind of see it. his mother is from china and his father is from the guadmala south. they moved to paris around 2005. he knows 4 lanuages.
Honestly, for me, he plays this song too softly and too restrained for my liking. Guys, it's 'Allegro Assai' for crying out loud! Allegro Assai means 'quite fast', and although Gabriel's version is very nice, it doesn't hold true to what the feeling of the song should be, or rather, what it really is.
If you want slower and 'nicer' sounding classical guitar, then that's fine. There are pieces that are MEANT to be played that way, I just don't feel that this is one of them.
I'm glad you've proven me wrong using logic and a reasonable argument...oh wait, you didn't bother with any of that, did you? I'm aware it's called a piece; since I said "there are pieces that are meant to be played that way".
I merely said I felt the tempo could be brought up a tad, Gabriel plays it very nicely and he's got fantastic tone. Perhaps I did phrase it a bit incorrectly, I wasn't trying to take anything away from his playing.
@gunther101 allegro assai means "quite fast". yeah thats true , Gabriel plays it quite fast. But this chapter of interpretation has a very subjective nature . What you said it's your opinion , but i dont think that the piece should be played in a louder , more faster way .

a wonderful example of perfect technique not as an end in and of itself, but rather as a means to a subtle, sensitive and engaging musical performance. It's like he's saying "look at bach!" as opposed to "look at me!", which i enjoy very much in a guitarist.
yea this dudes pretty cool he came to my school and I got to meet him. apparently his guitar is from austrailia the top is cedar and and the rest is rosewood it cost him like 20,000
And all three of my Nylon Classic's have 18 frets - thats how they are. And his hands are rather small comparatively to most guitarists - he's pretty short.
does it sound like he is messing up allittle at 341-346 on the bass notes??..hmm idk, he plays really amazing live, he played down here in brownsville texas & gave us an awesome master class :D
I can sympathize with the the very eloquent swiv2d as well as those who disagree with him(?). The classical guitar repetoire is an acquired taste. But my comment is: wow this guy has vampire nails on his right hand! Hope he doesn't have to type in private life.
I do a lot of typing (being a classical guitarist myself) and it's not as bad as it may seem to be. My question to bonproducer is whether Gabriel has his own web site. Would you be so kind and let me know. Thank you. By the way I met Gabriel when he was only 17 and wished him the best for the 2006 GFA Competition. He did not make it to the finale then but 2 years later... you see this video. Very fine playing. The other video (Mertz/Schubert) too. Thank you for posting.
Maintenant je comprends pourquoi ,lors d'un stage,un professeur m'a affirmé avec beaucoup de conviction que Gabriel Bianco était le meilleur guitariste du monde en ce moment . CHAPEAU BAS !!!
Gabriel bianco is absolutely brilliant...I saw him play in the Koblenz competition in 2007 and knew right then that he was going to carry the future of the guitar a long way.
Maravilloso!! Una clara de muestra de da evolución que ha tenido la guitarra y de que la nueva generación de guitarristas está haciendo cosas sin precedentes!!! Bravo!!!!!!!!!! Saludos desde Costa Rica! David Coto.
I must say Krivokapic's version is technically more impressive. But overall, and especially musically, Bianco is more superior. I especially like the stacatto he uses at 0:13 to 0:20 and then throughout the piece. Very effective!
@chepurociel620 If it was then how come he can play the exact same phrase perfectly legato in the few bars before? Its a definite choice he's made to add interest, and it sounds bloody brilliant!
Even though I have great respect for Krivokapic, this is so much better then his version. This is the perfect guitar transcription. It's is the original version, and it played so clear, just wonderfull.
Krivokapic playes a different version with a lot of extra notes, and he plays it a bit to fast.
This is probably the best version of this piece that I've heard that is a straight transcription., that is without the addition of bass notes. He does add an open 'G' when it goes to the high g section at the climax.
However, I believe that the guitar should not limit itself to only what the violin plays. The guitar is a guitar, not a violin.
Very nice! your channel is probably the best source online to get an idea about guitars and tone. Especially a Smallman reference. I specially liked Goran's Marvi and Dylla's Teryks.

looks like a very short scale guitar that with huge hands which helps. . .
I like the articulations in this allegro.
Would be nice with more terraced dynamics.
Boldstrummer 2 years ago
Joking? The Dynamics make this.
And all three of my Nylon Classic's have 18 frets - thats how they are. And his hands are rather small comparatively to most guitarists - he's pretty short.
NeCroughdamus 2 years ago
I said more TERRACED dynamics.
He is great but capable of more.
He is very long waisted and tall.
Very nicely articulated but it needs even more contrast otherwise it sounds too
much the same. It takes a lot of skill to increase the dynamic range. Any one can play loud all the time.
Boldstrummer 2 years ago
Too heavy on the reverb. It hides the imperfections. In this case he is doing a great job. Lovely and masterful.
Perhaps there is an advantage to playing the guitar in his position like a cello.
