Quite interesting video clip... I've been applying DietOramy healthy eating plan (seen it on google) for plenty of time now and my personal improvements are already stunning - I already lost 6 percent of my total excess bodyweight within
Hello... Have you checked out DietOramy food plan (google it)? I've read about large quantities of magnificent details about this and even my sis reduced lots of bodyweight by using it.
@lazur1 Yeah, it would make more sense to put the sugar in capsules and swallow those instead, if you want to avoid tasting it. It's also not a good idea to take sugar if your metabolism is out of whack (which it probably is if you're very much overweight). I think the basic theory that taste has physiological effects on your metabolism is interesting and may have merit.
@J:Your skepticism makes you the perfect subject: 1/Weigh yourself. 2/Drink 4 tbsp (480 calories) of flaxseed oil, while holding your nose, as your -only- breakfast. (This is the updated choice for its additional health benefits). 3/Do it for a few days, paying -absolutely no attention- to how much you eat. 4/Weigh yourself again on the fourth day.
@holidaygiftset thanks dude. I was stubborn as ever. I drank the EVOO. Freakish. I felt sooooo drunk. Darn need to start listening. I was high. Can't keep my head up. :) thanks for telling me this. :) But surely, I didn't eat anything after drinking a tablespoon of EVOO.:)
I find the hardest thing for me when dieting is getting enough nutrition. Smaller portions work, but I’m left hungry and less food= less nutrition. I use nutritional supplements now and eat healthy, full meals.I got started at ryansnutrition com and have my appetite under control.
i`ve try the "eat less kcal then u use" thing and never worked, i`ve been eating less then 1000 kcal, always making less and less cause never works...maybe i should just eat more kcal!! like the water with sugar thing. gonna start tomorrow!
This is very interesting, but how much sugar is needed for thee water? Would it just be one table spoon before every meal or when you feel slightly hungry?
@blissfullydead89 the book explaining the diet is only $20 (maybe less from Amazon) and is worth every penny and then some if you want to lose weight.
Ha! Not very well. I got bored and switched to primal/paleo. I had good progress with this, but got lazy about cooking (my god, you have to cook EVERYTHING yourself!). lol
@QueenSemiramis Oh well! :) Paleo diet pretty much just means eat only things a caveman would've had access to, right? Couldn't you buy roasted chicken or cooked steaks as long as they aren't covered in a BBQ sauce?
Here's the truth... If you eat more calories than your body uses (burns) then you will gain weight. If you want to lose weight you have to eat fewer calories. The trick is getting your mind and body to not demand more food when you eat less. I have lost over 25 pounds in about 3 months by buying a rice cooker and eating brown rice and skinless chicken breast every day. I do not eat rich foods that taste that good. My food tastes ok but not that exciting. Also 1 tsp of fish oil and fruit.
I'm not obese just a bit overweight and have tried the oil for the last week and I've cut down on junk food by 50%. I'm not very hungry anymore and when I do eat the food is good and healthy.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
We don't overeat because of instinct, we overeat because the fucking food we're given has no nutrition, if you eat healthy you won't have that problem, duh!
It seems to me that what he's talking about is changing your mind and your minds responses to hunger. By cutting out the appetizing snack (which does just that and gets you primed for more eating)you take in a flavorless substitute which calms your hunger impulses. So its a mind trip. But like the ancients say "fight poison with poison." We are on an oral trip and constantly stuffing our mouths. Thats a head trip. Fight head trip with head trip. AUM!
Self experimentation and general curiosity constitutes a motivated scientist. Regarding it works,I doubt Robert will gain anything other than a good rep by freely explaining this
"If The Shangri-La Diet sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
The diet's premise is unusual. It is based on a few studies in rats, anecdotes of successful dieters, and the author's personal experience -- not the clinical trials that scientists insist upon when making public health recommendations. More studies are needed to test what effect tasteless and unfamiliar foods have on appetite regulation"
I would like to see some scientific work on this diet.
Google Scholar only reference was to his book.
I am very skeptical of way out diets like VEGAN and RAW. These are usually promoted by people in minority groups trying to promote their own ridiculous life style.
The idea that too-high insulin levels cause all overeating doesn't explain why sugar water caused me (and many others) to lose weight. Carbohydrates-are-bad theories predict that sugar water should cause weight gain, if it has any effect.
Unwanted hunger and cravings are caused by overeating carbohydrates, in particular sugars. Some 45 minutes after eating a high carbohydrate food, the blood sugar level "spikes". The body responds by releasing insulin into the bloodstream. The insulin lowers blood sugar but tends to lower it too much. This results in hunger and cravings. So, we eat more high carb foods to satisfy the apparent need for food. A vicious cycle sets in and we overeat.
I found this out some 2 years ago. About three years ago, I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I tried some of the nonsense high carb diets like Glycemic Index Diet to no avail.
I then went low carb, lost my unneeded hunger and sugar cravings and lost 10 Kg in one year. Also lost my high blood sugar levels. I have stayed same weight of <60 Kg for last year.
You will need to do regular exercise. I walk some 2 hours a day.
What helps really and it is natural comes from Switzerland and is called body-royal. It is really brilliant and I have decreased 30 kg with it. It is new and I found it by chance.
I'll try this again :-) This diet works! I've been on it, more or less, since May 6, 2006, and have painlessly lost 41 pounds. The weight stays off - I know because I do wander into times of not taking extra light olive oil, and it's also good for your heart. Fast for 1 hour, just drinking water, take the ELOO, then fast for another hour - just drinking water. That's it - you're done for the day. You find you become much less interested in food.
This theory was very interesting and I do believe that your brain can make you want more and more of certain foods because manufacturers put additives in them to make you crave them and eat more.
I've lost 1 1/2 pounds in just the last 24 hours and didn't gag on oil or sugar.
I'm not on this diet. I cleanse. Weight loss is the extra benefit. This is day 3 for me and I've lost 3 1/2 pounds so far. Not water weight. I drink lots of R/O filtered water.
You can substitute textures. I love crunchy things, so now I eat raw nuts instead of chips. If a person eats from boredom, they may need a hobby or other distraction.
It seems to me that the key to this diet is an amazingly simple, and in a way amazingly obvious idea: eat food that your body needs, but that doesn't taste very good.
Has anybody tried this diet and failed to lose weight or gained weight? I did it for about a month but only lost 4 pounds and the oil was making me gag so I stopped. The idea of mixing water with it as a "shake" is a good idea though. I might retry.
I started just 4 days ago and my appetite practically disappeared, and I used to be snacking all day long. It's amazing!! Try it. It was really hard to get the oil down, but what helps is measure 1T, suck it up quickly through a straw, and immediately rinse it down with some highly concentrated sugar water afterwards. Once midmorning, and once right before bed.
I've been on the diet now for a few weeks. I feel pretty good and have lost 7 pounds. The oil is much better than the sugar water in my opinion. Take a look at my video if you want to see what I'm doing. Also, read Seth's book before doing it on your own. It makes a lot more sense if you read the book. /watch?v=CjLU97FODfE
everybody who is reading this seems to either say it works or be skeptical about it working without trying it. Is there anybody out there who is complaining that the diet doesn't work who has tried it, or who has actually gained weight from it?
It didn't work the first time I tried it because I didn't follow it closely enough (too few calories, mostly). The second time I tried, it worked for me and I lost weight, but when I stopped (because I eventually found both the oil and the sugar kind of nauseating) and returned to a normal diet I gained all the weight back. So if you do this, it's a lifetime thing, not a quick fix-and-you're-done.
I too am confused about the proper amount of sugar to take.
I bought light olive oil, but I thought I need to get extra lite from what this video says. Luckily I have only been doing it a day. I used the oil because I heard two table spoons twice a day.
Some of what was sait really fits, becuause I only eat/like about 5 different meal-type foods, and cheese is a big part of all of them.
i have been on this diet for 7 weeks and have lost 15 lbs. it is not another atkins or southbeach or whatever. he (seth) is not making any money off of selling special oils or sugar. i say give it a week and you will notice a difference in your appetite.
You might want to take more than 1 T of sugar... 1 T of oil is 120 calories, so if you want the equivalent of that in sugar, 135 cal of sugar is 3 T or 3/8 cup. It sounds like a ton but it's not so bad when you take it.
It really works, I've been on it for 2 months now. Completely unbeleivable. Go to the website, click on the link to Woman's World article. It explains everything. What I eat now is completely my choice. I'm not controlled by cravings anymore.
Or you can have a strong willpower

I recently purchased Seith Roberts book. In the last chapter, he includes actual studies done by other researchers.
Go to Barnes & Noble, but do not buy the book. Just thumb through it and read the studies.
Good luck,
