  • I shot a box of these through my Taurus Millennium Pro PT-145 and I got constant mis-feeds. The rounds would get stuck right under the feed ramp every 1-3 first rounds of a full clip. Anybody else have problems with either the PT-145 mis-feeding or this ammo?

  • I will take this stuff over PDX1 any day.

  • For cheap ammo, not bad.

  • That's not grape kool aid ...its grape drink lol

  • Better than PDX1

  • Hey I found some Winchester 'White Box" 230 JHP (45ACP) rounds at Walmart.(50 rounds per box) It is a great round for practice but I also think they would be a good HD round(Home Defense). They cycle really clean in my ACII M1911.....What do you guys know about these WW 230JHPs??? I usually buy the same round from there but the 230 FMJ round for range use. Waiting for your comments on these JHPs. Thanks & Stay safe!!

  • whats the diffrence between .45ACP and .45S&W.........whats the diffrence of acp and s&w, in a acp gun you cant use s&w? i have a .45 acp what ammo can i use and can not use?

  • @SoccerBalbus .45 ACP is an auto pistol round. It is rimless and made when black powder was old tech compared to the new smokeless powders that take up much less case space. The .45 S&W I had to look up. I thought you might have meant .40 S&W. Apparently the .45 S&W is another name for the .45 Schofield, which was a competitor for the .45 Long Colt in the black powder era. It is a slightly shorter round than the .45 LC. .45ACP and .45S&W are totally different and are not interchangeable.

  • I dont want to have one of those in my body o.O

  • this is better than a lot of the premiums.

  • i hate grape kool aid too

  • k..thanks for the advice

  • out of all the rounds you've tried, which one offered the best expansion?

  • @JaKeStA002 Grizzly Xtreme was the widest. Also see Federal HST, Winchester Ranger-T, Speer Gold Dot.

  • @andreleger2001 alright..thanks man

  • @andreleger2001 btw..how satisfied have u been with that taurus?? I was considering getting one of those

  • @JaKeStA002 I initially had an issue with the mag dropping during firing. (See the bloopers reel) After a trip to the factory (they paid shipping both ways - total time out was 6 weeks) it has been flawless. I can say that all the FTF in the AT1/2 series tests were likely attributed to this issue. Overall I like it. I wanted a double stack .45 ACP with an external hammer and this fit the bill. No issues at all now with any type of ammo shape.

  • I've not had a misfire of fail to fire in any of the thoudsands of these rounds. They're just affordable, not bad, ammo.

  • For the money, I'd say these aren't too bad for defensive rounds, really. They're pretty much just old-school Silvertips without the silver coloring. Then again, it's kinda hard to find any ammo in .45 ACP that isn't bad, really, because even if it doesn't expand, you're still putting nearly a half-inch hole in things. :-) Too bad darn near everyone's always sold out on this stuff. Know any place that actually has these on hand?

  • @darkwriter77 gander mountain near me has a whole bunch of them so does Cabelas.

  • is the .45 acp more powerful than the 10mm?

  • @hiimstevie15 There is certainly some overlap in these two rounds. However, high end 10mm beats out all .45 ACP loads even +P.

  • @hiimstevie15

For Christmas I bought myself a EAA Poly 10mm. With the right loadings you can get 1200/700 out a 10mm. No way I know to get even the strongest .45ACP to equal that. Actually that is overkill since it will more than likely just go right through if we are talking humans. I have a .45 Beretta and with the huge size of the bullet in a JHP, slow moving it is about the best HD round you can have.

  • Thank you very much, in the end I preserve the Ruger, but it is for sorrow. When I have stopped to think, I have discovered that I am going to lack my Ruger. And also I consider a more flexible caliber 357 Magnum than 45 A.C.P

    Thank you,

    Icae.

  • @icaearmas

Over this Holiday I have been looking at balistics and found the 9mm amazing. I have one but haven't shot the +P+ stuff yet through it. You can get loads that are 1200/500 in 9mm which is > .45ACP. Amazing the configurations in 9mm you can get!!

  • Hello, I see that in this video you use a gun Taurus. The matter is that I have a Ruger GP 100 and I want to have a gun type 1911. Now a friend changes to me his Taurus PT1911 of 45 ACP into my Ruger GP 100. I have gained access: What do you think of the change? Friends have said to me that both weapon is similar in price and quality.

    Thank you and good videos,

    Icae

  • @icaearmas The GP100 is a strong gun that is generally well built. I have not shot the PT1911 personally but I have handled them in the shop and they seem to be nice guns. I would say the Taurus has a higher price tag simply because the 1911 has more intricate parts to manufacture. Really your comparing apples to oranges but they are both decent guns. I would say it was a fair trade.

  • Look at the size of those slugs; they look over an inch wide.

  • the kool aid killer is going to get ya!

  • What is the best home defense .45 ACP ammo to use? Same for 9mm if you have info. Thanks for the video!

  • @intercooler2 In .45 ACP and 9mm Luger I would go with Winchester Ranger-T, Federal HST, or Speer Gold Dots. There are others for sure that would be very effective but these three are tops in my book.

  • @andreleger2001 Speer Gold Dots, for 9mm use 124 grain version though.

  • @andreleger2001

I did buy a box of Winchester USA (White Box) 230's like in the video. Just went for cheap and their numbers are 880/396. For Christmas though my Niece bought me a box of Federal 165gr Hydra-Shok JHP giving 1060/410. I plan on shooting both after the New Year to get a feel for how they shoot. From there I will probably just keep loaded up on the Federals. In all honesty any good JHP I think will be more than up to the task as a stopper.

  • @andreleger2001 get some HORNADY CRITICAL DEFENSE AMMO for 45 ACP AND 9MM..........works great EVERYTIME!!!!

  • did you get the ammo from walmart?

  • @BigMoneyRabbit Yes.

  • @myredtail I get them at gun shows and shops here in TX. They are hard to find online. Try checking your area first. Let me know.

  • Omg it won't let me reply

  • Comment removed

  • Also can't go wrong w the Winchester ranger T-series. But the newer PDX is the bonded version.

  • @spookykake Win T- series say's for LEO sales only its hard to find on line anywhere ?

  • @MyREDTAIL Try ammunition to go, they have it on a fairly regular basis. Awhile back they even had 9mm 127gr. +P+.

  • A fellow Texan... You should look into bonded JHP's. That way you dont have copper/lead seperation which gives you more devestating penetration. Winchester recently came out w PDX-1 bonded JHP. You can pick up a box of 25 at Wally world. It's basically the newest "black talon". I beleive it's what the FBI is currently using. Hornady also makes some great .45 ammo. Try out a couple brands and see what is best for your 1911. Let us know what you decide on.

  • Best video Ive seen: I ordereda Metro Arms "American ClassicII" Government model 45 pistol. Do you guys know of these guns from the Phillipines? $420 here in West Texas/which CCW ammo you mentioned would you carry in an M1911? Thanks Stay safe!

"A gun is like a seat belt, if you have it ON when you need it, then its already too late"....Me!

  • Good review. I have one mag w these in 9mm. The lead and copper jacket do have a tendency to seperate. In my other 12 mags I keep Ranger sxt 127 +p+ , Ranger sxt 147 grain, federal hydra shoks, hornady critical defense, and 124 grain +p bonded golden sabers. I guess a JHP is better than none, BUT I'd rather trust my life to premium ammo. That's just me though. ps I love TX.

  • Nice expansion. I've been carrying these for a long time.

  • That Taurus unit looks really nice. I was set on getting a Springfield XD-40cal., but may wait n research a lil bit more before I purchase.

  • 50 Rd FMJ's in 230g are around $20(target loads) & Winchester 230g, 50 ct in target loads are around $26 here in ohio. With my NRA card, they're a lil cheaper.

  • .45 was designed to shoot 230

  • my dad has a .380 and he has 95 gr FMJ and on the base rim it says w-w .380 auto. does the w-w mean winchester white box?

  • @hiimstevie15 I think most of Winchester's brass is marked this way. The term 'Winchester White Box' is not officially the name, but it refers to Winchester USA brand of ammo.

  • @hiimstevie15 I think it stands for winchester _western

  • @hiimstevie15 The WW stands for Winchester Western the name of the Company.

  • i have no experience about guns and bullets , but i search for that video cuz i found yesterday a bullet , than i wrote on youtube what is write behind it . with i get one day that gun

  • the kool aid man must hate you.

  • i love grape cool-aid

  • shit im paying 28 buxs a box here in Alaska for FMJ... i wish i could get them for around 20 lol

  • If you know where to get these for $19.97/box please do tell, as that would be a bargain! I'm paying $18-20/box of 50 FMJ. Like I said Walmart in my area charges $28-32/box of 50 JHP and they are cheaper than anyone else in town.

  • South Carolina, I think you're confused. The FMJ are 19.97/box, but these are JHP and they run about $28-32/box.

  • I have about 150 of these, they are a great inexpensive defensive round. They are also usually available and run around $34/50rds.

  • @ericr530 damn, where do you love? In TX, these can be had for $19.97 for 50rds.

  • @ericr530 I just paid 37.50 for a box of 50 in PA sucks!! Got the fmjs in Jersey the other day for 21

  • @paraglidermx I have about 150 of these, excellent inexpensive (compared to premium defensive ammo) round. See the test of it here.

  • @ericr530 Yeah,Im going to keep the jhp for the home defense clips, and save up the fmj,so far I have 100 rds.of fmj and 50 of jhp,I just started collecting yesterday;-)

  • @paraglidermx I have 400 rds. of JHP's- 200 for my .45 and 200 for my 9mm. That is more than enough since I will probably never shoot them. As this video shows this is excellent performance from a standard factory JHP. .45ACP sure is expensive to shoot! I take my 9mm twice as often as my .45 since it costs half as much for ammo.

  • Most handgun bullets in all but the most powerful calibers .44 mag, S&W .500 mag, don't pass through one body and go into another, common myth.

  • does anybody know if there exists FMJ bullets that go thru a human body without going into another body standing behind it??

  • what did the kool aid ever do it post no harm

  • motherfucker you killed kool aid noooooooo!!!!!!!!! lol

  • why do u use kool aid thats dumb use water

  • All we did was put a 15 cent packet of Kool-Aid in the water to dye it so its easier to see the splash on the video. We looked into food coloring, but a packet of Kool-Aid is actually cheaper to color water per galon.

  • still a VERY good round for the price and availability.. I use them now. I wouldnt wanna be shot with one.

  • @davenorr84 I wouldnt wanna be shot with any round

  • The WWB 45 JHPs kinda just make a mess of themselves. ER doc would be picking pieces out for days...if the vic made it too the ER. Pretty good though for cheaper JHP

  • "doctor, i'm too lazy to save this one...too much shit to clean, let em' go and let's do subway!"

  • ...how much dows it cost a 50ammo box there in US?

    Here in italy costs 20€.

  • 50 rounds fmj 45acp around 20 bucks

    50 rounds 45acp hollow point...a lot more...maybe 45 bucks

  • Another great vid. I was debating on wether to buy these or not. Good enough for me.

  • Damn those bullets mushroomed out like crazy....very high grainage for a .45 bullet also....thats always a plus...ensures better penetration....then the 45 being a knockdown beast id say thats an ideal choice for carry gun ammo....by the way that Taurus pt 845 is gorgeous....how much did u pay for her

  • The PT-845 was about $520 i think with taxes and all. Its a nice .45 - holds 12 +1.

  • it gives you a lil more weight then the stock one im going to take it back to the range and see witch one is the best..

  • any round gets the job done..even a full metal jacket, but if u want a badass personal defense round...go Winchester Ranger T series...230 grn. hollow point..just about the same as a black talon i think

  • I carry these in my 1911, while not a "premium" bullet, I don't think they will bounce off of an evil doer.

  • my glock 21 full size is 5" get a stell rod for it you will love it.

  • How does a steel rod improve it? Just curious, I've never had any trouble with the standard rod that comes with it ...

  • What about in my Glock 21 pistol the barrel on the G21 is only about 4 " so the expanshion with this ammo would be no good ?

  • The test gun (Taurus PT-845) has a 4 inch barrel also. These would do just fine in your Glock 21.

  • Good ammo $30 bucks at Wallyworld Double Tap is under $40 for 50 shots of +P 45 ACP.Remember you need a 5inch 45 ACP like the S&W 4506 645 or 1911 guns. The Sig 220 with the 4inch caused many failures to stop with 230 grain hollowpoints.

  • Anyone know any online sources to get these?..for some reason i have not seen them on the sites i go to

  • I buy a box of these whenever our Wal-Mart has them in stock. Great value round a little nicer than Gold Dots in my opinion.

  • i purchased these for my ruger because i just didnt have the money for the hydrashocks. and after this video i will stick to this defsive load ,i shot one in dirt and the recovered diameter was bout .70 awesome value.

  • This load consistantly did well for a 'non-premium' load. It is a good value; you get a lot for your money.

  • I've used this load for years in a wide variety of weapons from old M1911's to suppressed SMG's with excellent results. You really can get good ammo and not pay $30 a box.

  • Just picked up a box of these to test for myself.

  • Massad Ayoob says this is a very effective load. He has seen several examples that have been recovered from criminal's bodies in the morgue...(hint....morgue) Not bad at all being a "wal-mart" load eh.

  • I agree that this round is a great value for the money. It held together just fine.

  • this looks very similar in performance to Winchester Silver Tip, I wonder if the color is the only thing that's different? if that's the case I will not be spending the extra just for the silver coating.

  • If I am not mistaken, the silvertips have an aluminum alloy jacket whereas the white box is a traditional gilding metal jacket. Its probably the same core for both, they look very similar. This round impressed me; especially at the generally lower price point they can be gotten. They held together pretty well.
