Man, I thought I was the only one who loved this movie!!! A true cult classic!! I've watched the dvd at least 15 times. So many classic lines, and the dialogue and interaction between the characters is priceless.
This scene is great, but my favorite is the next one, where they convey their theory to their boss, and he goes fucking apoplectic. I remember seeing this in the theater with my ex-girlfriend, and the both of us spontaneously laughing hysterically- "A PAIR O' PRICKS!!!!!
$100? Oh really, well I can understand that, such a great movie, and it did not break, in Sweden for example it's still unknown. It also was a monetary loss for the company. $100 is what I estimate my first CD will cost in 2030, because I'm only making 30 copies, for my best fans. Each has a unique painting with it, yes they're all booked.
The oneliners from this movie will last the ages. Shouting 'we need bigger guns' while getting our asses kicked during an online game of Battlefield, is still a very guilty pleasure. Plus, anything Hauer says is cool by default.
An absolute corker of a movie. Would love to see it again. My brother and I wandered around yelling, "We Need Bigger FUCKING GUNS!" for months afterwards. And I knew the current Mrs Lordzden was the girl for me when she started reciting exactly the same speech not long after we first met. :)
Another one did u see his eyes all i saw was a HUGE FUCKING thing how are u feeling ok yeah .... u feel on?? on edge YEAH have one of these dick do u get laid every night yeah now what now we get bigger guns .... Halleluja XD something bigger ah its to FUCKING small :P
@steve70196 It's not a b-movie, but people obviously did not understand this and still don't. It cost $7,000,000 to produce, it has brilliant script (like this scene), it's exciting, it has an interesting avant-garde environmental message (1992 most people did not know about the greenhouse effect). It has a top actor and well thought out theatrical property like these amazing guns. What's it's drawback is the monster which reminds too much of the predator.
@Chaanee Please forgive my use of the term "B-movie." It's not a b-movie like, say, Leprechaun or Carnosaur, both 1990's films that cost about $1M. But, "low budget" would be fair to say, as other scifi films from about the same time had far bigger budgets. Alien 3 (not nearly as entertaining as Split Second) cost about $50M to make, and Freejack, Universal Soldier and Screamers about $20M, etc. Fun film to rent though, I'd recommend it to any scifi fan. Haven't tired of watching it yet.
It´s TO Fucking SMALL!!!! ....... i got my own copy of this fucking great movie i love it when durkin is getting totally freaked out after the shootout at the morgue house
Great Movie. I had it first on VHS. Don't know if it's on DVD. My mother got me the album for the Moody Blues song "Nights in White Satin," due to the breakfast scene in the pub with the girl the punk hair.
Love this scene. I even love the scene before this one. The one where Durkin thinks he's chasing a serial killer, and then he sees the monster run past him. Rutger then runs to him and asked "Where did he go?" and Durkin replies, "He, that wasn't a he, that was a f...ing it, an f...ing it. We need bigger guns"
"We need big guns,
Big,big,fucking guns!
What the hells he on?

Although not in this clip; I love Stone's classic refrain: "You saw him, didn't you".

Classic flick. A couple times a year the wife and I make a big pot of coffee and get a ton of those riesen chocolates and watch it.
Another scene quote "I saw a rat.... So I shot it"
"YOU SHOT MY KITCHEN!!!"
"I missed the rat"
"What ? This one" (Dangles corpse)
"COOL........ I'm bleeding" (passes out)

Does anyone know what kind of gun Rutger has in this movie? His main magnum like gun...
hush00 2 years ago
I think rutger's "cannon" is a customized Crosman 3357.

@eloco22 ah yeah, that's probably it. heavily customized then indeed.
thanks! :D always wondered about it.
