I'm not quite sure where you're coming from with this, I'm pretty sure that they're not in there ensuring that they die in one of the most horrific ways possible to ensure that we've got energy. I'm pretty sure they're doing it to try & save their people and maybe the rest of us from a fate that may be as bad as theirs. We dont need nuclear power for energy we never have. The only people who need it are the military industrial complex. and governments in order that they can proliferate
@nikkinomad - i agree that they're not in there to save the electricity but, as you said, to save their country (& perhaps the world--no one knows how this may end up). my point was to illustrate how thoughtlessly ways we squander energy. while the military is a major (ab)user, so are most private citizens: millions of electric toothbrushes. billions of TV sets & air-conditioners. these taken-for-granted entitlements are what make nuclear plants necessary in the first place.
