  • The videos by this user seem like they were made by a middle school student. Halle Berry 'was' originally a type 2 diabetic. She claims to have 'cured' her disease by changing the way she eats and by increasing her activity level. True Type 1's don't make ANY insulin, and need to replace it with injections/pump to LIVE. There are so many things wrong with this playlist, I would be here for hours explaining them. How do I know? I've been a Type 1 diabetic for 15 years, and counting.. and also edu

  • This women is kinda annoying :|

    btw, same thing with everyone

  • Type 1 can happen to anyone

Type 2 is different, sugar in the body and all the crap in the body.

  • T1 Diabetes, the Pancreas basically destroys it's own cells.

Meaning that all sugar is channeled through the blood stream unchallenged unless supplied w/ IV of insulin.

W/out the insulin the blood vessel walls are damaged and blindness will soon follow.

    ie. Retinopathy and Glacoma

  • Type 1 Brittle Diabetes is a worse death than Cancer (think Psychological, think Seizures, brain damage, and dying of a heart attack before the age of 50) Blindness, Keytoacidosis, Kidney failure... etc...

Even those T1's who have stayed away from sweets have a chance of the most miserable ends thinkable.

If T2's would take heed the caution to not die a Brittle Diabetic death.. T2's and T1's should not talk on each others forums.

    I'm a T1 from Canada.

  • I'm type 1 as well. I'm sorry but type 2 shouldn't even be discussed in the same breath. I'd dance in the streets tomorrow if I woke up and had type 2. There's no comparison. Sorry. But yet all we hear about now is type 2, forget about type 1.

  • I have type one diabetes

  • you don't catch diabetes by eating lots of sweets. you develop diabetes when you have too much body fat, especially central obesity. fat blocks the door way for insulin. causing fewer insulin to enter and break the sugar for energy, thus the increase in "unbroken" sugar levels and symptoms of tiredness, easy fatigability etc.

  • no thats type 2. type 1 is genetic.

  • That's type 2 and yes you're correct. But don't forget about the "original" diabetes TYPE 1. Type 2 is popular kid on the block. I'm type 1 and you have no idea how frustrating it is on so many levels there's not enough characters on youtube for me to elaborate. Type 1, make no insulin, inject insulin numerous times a day. Fend off impending doom, horrible complications. It's like comparing a small polyp to a grapefruit sized tumor. Sorry.

  • How does someone catch diabetes? Too much sugar or, too less sugar?

    Thanks.

  • too much sugar

  • Thanks.

  • you can't catch it. diabetes type 1 is a genetic. which means it can be passed on like brown eyes or blonde hair. its all genetics. type 2 has to deal with diet.

  • I don't think anything kind of physical disorder can be inherited from a relative. I believe, it all starts with the diet. I also believe just about anything can be altered!

  • i'm sorry, type 2 is genetic as well.

  • More videos like this (only for physicians) at symposier (.com)

  • well i have heard that a handfull of people who had type 1,and after a short time did not need insulin.Said to me by my speacialist.

  • @nelsonsilk Bull Crap. Without insulin a type 1 will be dead within a week.

  • Sorry... I was talking to the whole board. To help educate others. Guess that is NOT how it works not how none. My son says if one more person asks hm if he should "eat that" they may get it in the face with a paintball gun. But..

  • Ms. Berry may be right ... I was originally mis-diagnosed as a T1. When I asked for an insulin test, the doctors apologized and re-classified me as a T2. 3 mo. later, I had weaned off the insulin. So, if I had not asked for the insulin test, the same thing that Ms. Berry is proclaiming is what happened to me ... Also, it is financially beneficial for the medical community to convince us that there is no cure for type 1 -- just like they tried to convince me that there is no cure for Type 2.

  • just because you don't need insulin doesn't neccesarily mean you don't have t1 because i was diagnosed with t1 almost 6 months ago and am in sort of remission where i don't need insulin but eventually will in a few months or a year

  • This is called the "honeymoon period". Many with type 2 start on insulin and once the surgers are under control insulin may not be needed. Age, anti body test, and examination can dx which diabetes a person has. An over weight person who is 16 or older most likely hase type 2. Type 1's ususally are under the age of 30, normal or under weight when first dx. It is just not black and white in the begining for some. But in time it becomes all to clear.

  • I know dude thats what I was referring to when I said remission.

  • I would ask your doctor next time you or a family memeber is in need of care i.e infection, broken bone, cancer. If you trust the doctor that is treating you or your family member; Ask about type 1 and type 2. Also I stand corrected; people with type 2 DO NOT have to be over weight. Always ask question and do not take someones word on things; that is lazy,But you have to do the work too. Research. There is not a doctor around the world who will disagree about type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

  • dude, i know what diabetes is both type 1 and type 2 is considering i have type 1 you don't need to give me a lecture on it!!

  • I was 35 when I was diagnosed with T1. Thought I was in the best shape of my life, was going to the gym 4 days a week and thin. Got a routine (or so I thought) physical and my fasting sugars were 240 (they thought it MUST have been a mistake so I had a second test done) and 311. T1 is rough, they shuffle you off to show you how to inject 2 kinds of insulin meanwhile you're about to explode. It's cut and dried, inject this and try to live longer. No weight loss or pills options here folks.

  • I am sorry, but there is no cure for type 1 diabetes.

  • stem cell research might pave the way for new discoveries!

  • Supposedly halle berry went from type one to type two.

  • Type 1 never goes away. Ask your doctor at your next visit. Many type 2 start on insulin to get the surgerys under control that build over a long period of time as high sugerys will kill. Type 2 produces insulin but does not use it correctly, Type 1 is an auto ammunine disease and they type no longer produces insulin You learn real fast about the two differant diabete when it hits hone. With the information at our finger tips it is easy to learn the differance :) Again just ask at your Dr. : )

  • type 2, insulin resistance. the regular insulin amount doesn't suffice.
