Double Dragon video game (NES) - Deathless speed run - Part 1

Can some explain to me what does the hearts at the bottom do? Also in the manual booklet it has all kinds of move but the only move i can pull off is the headbutt.

If you just climb down the ladders in the 2nd mission when facing the boss, he unexpectedly dies lol

this game was a nice port but it sucked ass as well i wanted the real fucing deal not a port.

I learned a lot from watching this that I never knew as a kid.

1) The countdown on held dynamite doesn't start until you throw it again (2:41).

2) You can switch up kicks and punches/weapons in a combo.

3) In a long scrolling section, you can "walk away" downed enemies (the Chintai at  4:46).

4) The "through the wall" trick with the Abobo at 8:47.

this was actually a very tough game. i always died at the 3rd level right where that water crossing is. double dragon 2 was much much easier compared to double dragon 1. well done

they seriously need to make a hack for this game with two players that would be great sucks it wasnt like that in the first place. great gameplay by the way i can make it to the end without dying but willie or jimmy always kill me lol

I just used this video to see how he beat Abbo when there's 2 of them on mission three. Dude, some of my games are in such bad shapes, I see letters in the stage. As for the score, my numbers turn to hearts, green blocks, and I saw a ©

You should try to do a no damage run instead, that's much more interesting. Doing a no death run on this game is easy.

I love watching these speed runs, espeically when no cheats are used and the player is good. It's like watchng your buddy kick ass at a game when you were 10 back in 89'. These games bring back memores I wouldn't normally think of. And I still remember the melodies to all the songs almost exactly!

Ive nevr beat this game. i always wanted 2c the end. I dont know if it was the game I had or not, but at the end of the 1st level there was a different glitch and I was able to climb up the wall and appear at the bottom of the screen. Also, I didnt kno u could punch them on the ground!

Yep, that 1st level glitch is found in the same game, dHARMa187, and Billy can only go down on and pound away at his enemies after receiving five hearts, if I remember correctly.

Same here, microblan. Prior to seeing that strategy in a tool assisted speed run, I usually made Billy throw Chin off the top, or crush him by climbing down the ladders, good times! :)

Me neither, einnor85r, until I watched a tool assisted speed run. I would normally use the elbow attack against them or regular kicks.

I used the elbow or kick to. I would go in a diagonal direction with the kicks so they kinda "ran in to them" it worked good with the guy with the gun.
