Betty is a female California Sea Lion. CSLs are the pinniped of choice for most marine mammal shows because they are so intelligent. Probably the most noticeable difference between seals and sea lions is that on land, sea lions can hoist their upper torsos erect (which Betty is doing here on the glass tank rim). Seals are unable to do that.
