I visited Egypt 4 years ago. Errr. it is not same impression i have after visiting the country. i think tourism of Egypt is declining. the tour guides are not that good. people are not very friendly.

I recall visiting Egypt and the Sinai desert some years back. Cairo, the bazaar, Alexandria, trip down the Nile...sharm el sheikh...what I remember more than anything else was being shocked that Egypt was once the most ADVANCED civilization on earth, because now they are one of the most backwards...these people were just completely screwed up...can't build anything worth a crap. I went to Egypt last March and it was wonderful. DO NOT GO DURING THE SUMMER TEMPS REACH ABOVE 110 F.The best time weather wise is December-April .I am a single woman and it was very safe but I highly recommend going with a tour group. I went with Globus tours the 10 day Egyptian Splendor trip it was fablous and our egyptologist Medo was a genius showing and explaining the sites. It was land and Nile boat cruise. I live in America but I'm Egyptian. Being a woman shouldn't be much of a factor. Just use the same precautions you would traveling anywhere. My only warning, make sure you know some Arabic or have a trusted native speaker with you, or you might get scammed :\ My mother [white, blonde, etc I'm half Egyptian] took a cab around the city when she was young and the cab driver tried to scam her into paying more and such thinking she didn't understand Arabic. Boy was he in for a surprise lol Have fun!
