  • my stylist uses a blow dryer, hot comb and flat iron. my hair has reverted back each time. go to a professional that knows what they are doing. if you are doing it yourself stick to the one/two pass rule.

  • I think the model hair is beautiful, the stylist applied too many passes with the flat iron. it seems that is the cause of heat damage.

  • The end result looks just like a relaxer, except it looks too healthy, lol.

  • Beautiful outcome... I also wonder why the hairstylists hair looked so raggedy. -_-

  • Now if only the stylist can do something with her own head.

  • I think the cut was beautiful and the style...the model's hair was clearly uneven-which was made more obvious by the color on her ends.

People need to stop hating, especially since it was kind of obvious that the girl must not have gotten her hair straightened all that often, by the way that she had to ask the stylist how long the style would last....ppl always need to find something to hate on, smh.

  • What does a 4c hair texture look like if this is a 4b?

  • How many times did she apply heat though? I feel like she put heat on 4 different occasions! Sheesh.

  • @thelovelyone2008 I did cringe a bit when the stylist was making multiple passes with the flat iron. I watched a flat iron video that said if you use a thin enough section, only one pass was needed and that would greatly reduce the risk of heat damage. I'm hoping that whatever she was spraying on the hair was enough to protect it.

  • can somebody say scissors happy?...nice video, btw

  • What tool was the stylist using before she flat ironed I've never seen that before

  • This is really similar to the method i used for transitioning. The exception being she would blow dry, trim and then curl my hair using the flat iron. I would just pin curl it at night and it would stay for a good week or two before i got it done again. Deep conditioning steam treatment each time. Worked wonders!

  • Looks like a grease press to me #kanyeshrug

  • OMG her hair is sooooo healthy. I have this same 4b hair and i havent seen anybody on youtube with my hair texture straighten their hair and have it look beautiful!!!. Wow i never knew my hair could look like that!!!! Im impressed and I live in Brooklyn too!! I will be going there!!!

  • natural hair looks soooo healthy and shiny when it gets flat ironed! Nice!

  • Her hair is sooo beautiful!!!! Very nice and sliky!

  • Oh wow! Amazing transformation & the woman has gorgeous hair!

  • I'm sitting here wondering just who the heck "dislikes" this video. The transformation from beginning to end is nothing less that superb. Great job Amanda! I wish I lived in NYC because I'd be a regular!! Thanks for the video Taren, very informative.

  • Good grief! Shrinkage is so evil!

  • @natrlchallenge lol i no, but because of it I can rock many different lengths without cutting, if i style it right

  • @natrlchallenge lmaoo..it really is!! i was surprised at how long it got when she blew it out

  • Wow what flat iron do they use?

  • The end result looks really nice, but it looks like they stylist did at least 5 passes with the flatiron and lot of heat coming from the flat iron. I hope she doesn't suffer any heat damage.

  • great idea, but the music in the background was sadly really loud & so we couldn´t hear the tricks the stylist was talking about. s:

  • amazing!!

  • what straighter was used?

  • @caranorini1 if im guessing correctly that is a Babylis Pro Iron. Titanium

I own one and it looks just like it :]

  • Natural hair shrinkage is so deceiving,, Her hair has some great length and it turned out beautifully..

    Thanks for sharing

  • I miss New York!

  • Her hair is beautiful !

  • WOW! :)

  • Nice job on the client's hair!

  • WOW! She got her hair bone straight!

I would love to see the reversion.

  • She got that lady's hair lookin like a relaxer! Beautiful job!

  • Her hair looks great.

  • @SweetyBird720 Kind of looks like the edge stick to me.

  • Man that Babyliss flat iron is NO joke we sell about 10-15 a week w/o promotion for a reason lol.. Her hair came out beautiful 3 it.

  • @MrsNattaly Baby bliss is nice... but it does not give you that result alone. Its the technique and prep before it, with the help p the flat iron the that gave the results.

If that was the case than the flat iron would be gold!

  • @bbnne11 that flat iron is borderline gold. everyone has to prep the hair for a blow dry, they even have a "Wet to Dry" edition (but they don't fool me i stay away from those in any brand, no bueno). but i guess i see what you're saying especially since she has a tighter curl.

  • @MrsNattaly No, tighter curl has nothing to do with it. Because taren, the light skin girl in the vid, did a straightening vid and her hair is way looser the model's hair and her results didn't come out half as silky as the model with the kinkier hair texture.

  • @MrsNattaly Hey speaking of Baby bliss, since you work for them, you know know wher I can get a good deal for a package set?? :)

  • What a beautiful technique, what was the smaller tool that Amanda used before flat ironing the sections? The models hair looked so silky and healthy! Great video to post, thank you!

  • hey i used to assist for a stylist named akilah that worked there!

  • Beautiful!

  • is gina your sister?

  • Thanks for the video! I have a very kinky texture, and I tried to blow dry my hair and the comb would not go through!! So I will try this technique by using the denman brush and starting at the ends!!

  • What is the name of that tool she used to straighten her roots???

  • @macklover404 its called R session tools root tamer.

  • @StarzNDHearts Thanks :)

  • Great job!!

  • I think the stylist did a great job. However this is not something to do monthly because you would not retain any growth with the stylist chopping off more than 2 inches.

  • i see this salon all the time, while on my way to class,....this video makes me want to stop by. has any one gotten their hair styled from here without heat?

  • very healthy hair wow

  • her hair looks so healthy

  • only if it was not in bk i hate bk

  • Comment removed

  • @loveleymetalheadgirl we love you too ;)

  • @xpunkxchick809x I hate the bad stuff that gose down in bk i got no prob w ppl tht live in bk im from bk :P

  • The things I would do with my hair if I lived in NYC ;)

  • you can tell how long the how dressers how is by how scissor happy she was on this girls hair this girl had a decent length of hair she did not need that deep of a cut

  • Wow, can you say heat damage??! I doubt the model's hair completely reverted after this. Also I found the stylist to be a little scissor happy.

  • I have been to this salon, they have some amazing stylist , but you are there all day

  • Which products were used before, during and after straightening?

  • How much does it cost to straighten natural hair there?

  • Pretty! What was the black corded hair appliance used after the blow dry phase and before the blue Babyliss flat iron? Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • did her hair revert? because the stylist went over the hair with the straightener soo many times. she went over it several times after it was already straight. i would be so nervous if i were in that position.

  • beautiful

  • Amanda can do some hair mannn lol beautiful..

makes me wanna straighten my hair smh!

  • Absolutely gorgeous!

  • gORGEOUS!

  • it looks so good i'd think she was wearing a wig if i didn't just see it getting done. Nice

  • What kind of irons was the stylist using? Brand name?

  • Wow Love her hair and thanx for showing us how the different salons blow out natural hair! I hope you continue to show more of these videos!

  • Her hair was super shiny & healthy-looking! Nice!

  • beautiful!!!!

  • this is my salon, that's not my stylist but she know's what she's doing. I have NEVER seen anyone show up at Time and they end up walking out without looking hot as hell.

  • Whoa her hair is uber healthy! I love how NY has stylist who cater to all styling needs...

  • Her hair looked great! Excellent tips and I will now try to straighten my hair. Thanks Taren

  • WOW, I can't believe how much shrinkage she had. I did not think it was going to be that long when it was blow dried. Great job Time Studio. If my hair was longer, I would go there. Just some feedback ---not hating, please do not take it that way. I could barely hair you or the stylist very clearly.

  • that turned out great!

  • Wow, she got it as straight as my stylist gets my hair. She uses different products as well as Kemet Gold hair polish. Years ago, she used a peppermint like waxy pomade too. I love the results. Thank you for sharing this with us Taren.

  • sooo shiny and healthy looking. i love it!

  • When in BK Time Salon is where I will be going

  • her hair came out lovely!

  • whoa i want that stylist, she did a great job

  • i love it , what products did she use to get it so straight ?

  • This is super cute! The stylist did an excellent job!

  • Love it. I will be using the blow dry tip the style gave. Also that stylist hair was gorge!

  • Wow so cute
