I have the same motherboard, with q6600, 4gb ram, have installed windows 7 and im getting a "DVMUSB (E:)" is this normal? When i go on computer and click on it, it's as if it's a extra usb of 220mb. I don't know what it is? Has anyone came acros this issue? I never had this usb on any of my other boards.
I got the motherboard drivers of the website, and the audio got them from a different web cus the once in asus are still beta. also is a beta bios okay to install? will it work just like the original one? i have paid a lot for this board and now i am really disappointed of this simple issue, maybe a simply update may fix it. what is a DVMUSB by the way, anyone got any ideas? thanks in advance :)
I have an Core2Duo E6800 (2 years old i gues) overclocked from 1.86ghz to 2.53ghz . The asus overclocking software and bios settings are great, get asus for motherboard.
3DGAMEMAN, many thanks! I am currently building my custom computer, something I haven't done for many years. Weeks have I gone through updating my knowledge and selecting the perfect combinations for my needs (I play with 3D finite elements, meshes, Blender + scripting and other OOPs & dev-prog, and of course gaming - mostly RPG). Even though some times you make an overview, not an analysis, you gave many elements that helped ME in confirming my choices, the Lian Li for instance. Kudos!
No, not really unless you have one amazing chip that require very little voltage. Water Cooling is the way to go if you want a near maximum overclock and low temperatures. I recently overclocked my Q6600 to 3.84GHz but I have Swiftech water cooling with two 120mm rads.
i have my vcore 1.55 the pll 1.64 the vtt 1.50 v northbridge 1.66v my mobo is asus striker II extreme 790i q6600 temp idle the loweest core 34 highest 40 note this is idle .
I really disagree with spoon-feeding information like this to people. I would rather recommend that people read guides and tutorials so that they can get a bit of theory, so they know what to do when something doesn't work. Good information, none-the-less.
He stated at the end of the video that his setting may not work for someone with the same setup and he is right. You could get a Q6600 for example that only needa 1.45v for a 3.6GHz OC or one that needs 1.6v for a 3.6GHz OC.
At least he said the truth at the ed instead of just listing his settings.
I dont have a problem understanding a single thing he says.
Many people dont have much time o their hands so if he goes fast and puts it on the screen than we can read and hear more info. If he slows down t the slowest person who watches his videos all the faster more knowledgeable market will leave to go see other reviews in half the time.
Rodney is renowned for his reviews and he's been doing it this way for years so he might slow down a lil because of your comment but not much.

Have you ever considered talking at a slower pace?
You managed to roll out 2 whole sentances in the first 6 seconds of the video... And why post a video going through all your settings, when you speak so fast that we have to just pause it and read it ourselves in the "More Info" anyway?
I'm not hating, but slow it down dude. Maybe Americans can understand you, but i'm british and it's hard for me to understand you at that speed!
No. I have a hard time with slow speeches, it breaks the flow of comprehension and would thus annihilate the effort of a sound understanding from your part. More over, it's less efficient. I got sick of empty speeches were each words occupies 3-5 seconds, invading my time and trolling my patience. lol
my friend has this board and carnt get his ram to work at 1600mhz has to run it at 1066mhz as 1333mhz dose not apear. when trying to run at 1600mhz use 1.8v. i noticed u used 2.1v do we need to use more to get it to work. as it freezez when booting in to windows.
Yes, you do need to use more voltage (vRAM) to attain higher speeds. General rule of overclocking: the faster you want the part to perform, the more voltage it requires, but the more heat it produces and the shorter your component lifespan is. It's all a matter of balancing speed vs. voltage vs. heat. You want to MINIMIZE the voltage, as much as you can; find a speed that works for you with whatever voltage you find works (Don't go too high! Use small steps), then slowly try to decrease voltages
i have the same mobo as u do with Q9450 and 4GB OCZ Platium DDR3-1600 Ram and can't seem to get it stable past 3.04Ghz. i don't kno y. i have an Ultra 120 extreme cooler (lapped BTW), an Antec TPQ 850W psu and an Antec 900 case with the fans on max. any suggestions on how to get it to around 3.2?
I have some low spec computers (350-1500MHz), I am concerned that the old power supplies in the computers are using a lot of electricty. Do you know of any PSUs that use the minimum of power as well as being cheap.
I buy my computers from jumble sales, price range £5-£10 therfore I am unlikly to spend more than £20 on a PSU.
The important thing with power saving is getting a PSU that if efficient. Almost all modern power supplies will be 80% + efficient. I wouldn't skimp too much on a power supply, spend around £25 or so and get something around the 300W range. Have a look for an antec basiq 350W (£25), or seasonic S12II 330W (£35). You are unlikely to find anything good from a jumble sale. I would recommend buying online instead.
I am aware of the power saving features of WIndows but I believe I would use a lot power if I had a PSU designed for this task or some other device rather than making tweaks in XP or using the power saving features that are available to users.
I am particularly concerned about a computer I intend to use as a NAS and another which I intend to use a file server.
Question: What are the best overclocking settings for a Q6600 on a xfx 680i LT SLi motherboard? (Assume I am happy with 3Ghz - 3.3Ghz with a typhoon air heatsink from thermaltake.) Thanks in advace for the great help.

There are other bioses that you can flash onto your board to enable overclocking.
