  • Where are the people I don't ever recall Chicago looking and feeling this dead and/or empty?? I live in NYC and you can't find an empty street here.

  • @ranus69 This was New Years Day morning -- everybody was still asleep;-)

  • Mm did you run a red at that first intersection?

  • Ha! That's the same thing I noticed!!

  • do one for 31st and halsted.

  • I have a friend who lives on 63rd and Western....good lord.....

  • IMO south side is way better than north side. NS has no parking, smaller streets, dominant white culture. SS has wide streets, alot more parking, and cultural diversity. But some reasons all the money for renovation goes toward North side. Even the train stations being fix are all north side. Its CTA fault that didnt put crash bumpers in front of CTA station in Cermak/Chinatown to prevent such tragedy. That ramp is really dangerous.

  • @spike378 Big thumbs up! The North Side is cramped, crowded, and filled with rude, obnoxiously loud, ignorant, uneducated liberal, white people. The south side has people that care about education and ways to literally improve the entire city. And it is more ethnically and religiously diverse. I have friends from the south side. No trouble at all. I ran into a few North Siders and they hated me because I wasn't rich, drunk, and pathetic like them. Thanks for saying the south side rules.

  • It's too bad IIT didn't get as involved in transforming its surrounding neighborhood as the University of Chicago did in Hyde Park (which was in Bronzeville's predicament 55 years ago). It takes a strong insititution to accomplish that kind of change, and Bronzeville didn't have that. Just predatory landlords, bank redlining, out-for-themselves "community leaders", and a series of aldermen with their palms out.

  • Who ever said the south side had some dangerous segregated neighborhoods never visited Hyde Park. When I moved out of my grandparents' house after graduation, I wanted to live someplace nice and still be close to my family. Since all my relatives lived in the south side or suburbs, Hyde Park was alogical choice: cheap rent, safe, access to the L or bus without the notion of lookin behind your shoulder. We need more affordable housing in our neighborhoods.

  • looks like a nice neighborhood

  • to get raped and murdered in, of course. HA!

  • It is a beautiful neighborhood, and the property taxes are in the three figures. First and second installments combined. HA yourself;-)

And I seem to recall a recent incident where a guy murdered a young kid, burned his body and stole his identity. In Chicago's suburbs. Oh, yeah. Much more civilized out there.

  • Also don't go anywhere past California West all the way to Pulaski between 15th South through 75th South. That's Mexican gang land.

  • does anyone have more videos like this? driving through wrong places

  • I was in South Chicago last year and It was rough. I didn't expect that, so when one nice black lady said I sould get out of the neighbourhood or I'd be just looking for trouble, I took her advice, jumped back on the subway, and got the hell out. lol

  • Listen, I live on Damen and Pershing and I've been there for 3 years and I LOVE IT!

In my time living there I've paid less for fuel, rent, food, street parking, compared to the north side. Plus I've had the best culinary experiences of my life with the surrounding cultures. (ie Chinatown, Italian Village, Mexican)

  • is it that dangerous around there that you just go and run a red light as if it were not there?

I would not have shown that part man the police they could see it and use it aganst you man.

I love chi town even got family in the burbs north but there are some things I dont like like the high crime rate and the rush pace of traffic I like the small town better but I would love to hear the house music of chi town all the time .

  • way to run the red light in the beginning...

  • On New Year's Day morning, a red light in front of a closed store means "nail it". --from Artistmac's Rules of the Road;-)

  • Good editing and good storytelling. i was waiting for you to get to 55th and mlk so i could duck down!
