@j2y8n2x I know this is a bit late, but perhaps providing two sand baths would encourage your hammy to use one as a toilet, and one as a bath? They prefer to pee in one place, so with any luck he'd stick to peeing in the sand he likes as a toilet, but now have a spare one he shouldn't pee in. Hopefully instinct would kick in and he'd sand bathe like they do in the wild.

It worked for one of my hammys, I guess he just preferred peeing on sand as opposed to wood shavings.

@MizzDaisyDee Hamsters are Sand creatures and love sand. they need sand to clean they're fur and as they really love sand. you know that feeling after a hot day when your sticky from sweat etc and feel amazing when you take a shower well that's same for hammy if you give him a sand bath. hope i answered your question. :)

@SyrianHamsterNetwork If you get a Dwarf then get a Roborovski Dwarf. Make sure they have plenty of space and toys to play with cause they are the most active. Also get a very young one that way they will grow up in your care and treat you like a parent so there is less biting and hiding.

He just runs around to the exit of the place and keeps digging and biting that area (a cap which i used to close it; dont worry, there's holes on top the container).

He never really "baths" himself. :(

It may be how close the camera is to the hamster, but it looked very large. At first I thought it was a russian dwarf. That's definitely a full grown robo either way. I've never seen a full grown one.

I'm about to adopt three of them off a local shelter that needs to get rid of them.
