All who participated in this vid should be proud of themselves! You not only overcame discrimination you faced at home, but you managed to get into one of the best schools in the country as well. Bravo!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the "It Gets Better" project ... the courage it must have taken to speak up and speak out is AH!mazing, and I'm really proud to see this coming from my alma mater. To quote one speaker "This isn't about gay rights -- this is about human rights." When all is said and done, this is what it really means to be "a tribe." Sue '83
I know I can't speak for the whole Catholic Church, but for those of you who never get to hear it from anyone, I am so, so sorry. I pray that we get better too.
i live not to far from W and M. i go to VCU and i can say that if VCU wasn't accepting i would have my transfer paperwork in today. You all should be able to inspire and send this out to every media source available, had i of seen this at 14 things may have been different. I'm hoping to get something like this done at VCU. So thank you guys you all are awesome.
aahahah, i'm not yet come out from the closet, i'm to scared of my parents, but some of my friends already knew cos i told them, and i love them very much!!
I'm so immensely proud of you folks attending W&M one of the countries oldest institutions of higher learning. I'm fully confident that after graduating you will
disseminate into the world and work for social justice and civil inclusion for all!
A boy I once loved long ago(Bobby Griffith/Prayers for Bobby) and I , could only dream of a world in which young people could safely stand up and choose to live their lives authentically!
James, I was especially moved by you quoting your father's words, about how happy he was to have his son back. As gay youth, our fear of rejection of makes us pull away from the people we love, exactly the people whose support we need. What your dad said to you is exactly what I would want parents of queer kids to say when we come out to them.
And to parents, please, please tell all your kids that you will love them if they are queer and they should never fear telling you.
Very well done, even as a heterosexual I can appreciate this. No humans should harbor hate for another human being simply because of a decision that doesn't affect anyone other than the gay person themselves. Life is short, don't waste it hating.
Powerful, inspiring - thank you W&M students and faculty. This piece will comfort and help so many people - including, yet way beyond our W&M community. Thank you. An Alumnus
This video is truly AWESOME! Thank you for making it. I’m so happy that my alma mater is representing. This video will mean a lot to many young people out there watching. Words can be so cruel, hurtful, demeaning, and destructive to LGBTQ kids, teens and young adults. But you've reminded us that words can also be encouraging, supportive, and uplifting—and at a time when our youth need inspiration the most. What a powerful message to share. Thanks for providing a beacon of hope to someone.
