you have to wonder if they've actually been doing this for years but just don't tell anyone like "muahahaha, beatles reunion happened, guess what, we reunite all the time you just don't know it bitches"
The incident with Elvis that George is referring to happened in late 1971. George was in New York to work on editing the Concert For Bangadesh concert movie. While there, he scored a backstage pass for Elvis' MSG show. This was also around the same time George was on Dick Cavett's show.
George seems disinterested and altogether read for the whole thing to be over through much of the interview/jam session. Paul, on the other hand, seemed especially enthusiastic about playing with the other two. Not all that different from 1970.
@BigJohnWoody Yep. I just added it on 1/12 special features: George played dutifully and honored his bandmates request to play Blue Moon of Kentucky, but the smile is gone and his energy limited. The 3 of them had quarreled earlier in the morning and came back more cheerful. But George is still haunted by unresolved years of tension. There was a lot of deep hurt when they disbanded. It affected them in ways no one else will ever understand.
Now that I think about it, this is the first time I've seen Paul with an actual left-handed acoustic guitar, and not a right-handed one that has been re-strung. If you look at a lot of old footage, you'll notice the pick guard is on the top of his guitar, instead of on the bottom, like in this clip. I thought it was strange that with all the money he has, he never seemed to get a left-handed acoustic.
@56Veggie back in the Beatles days he didn't have much money, taxes were so high on income they hardly got to keep anything, and left hand guitars were hard to comeby. Paul learned to play upside down, so that's what was ntural to him, or maybe he preffered right hand guitars so he could kinda show off.
@QueenBeatlesWings The guitar is upside down but it's stringed for a left hander. I just learned that by watching this video. I've been trying to figure that out for a while
even though john's not here, they are totally channeling his spirit and energy, because the jam seems so fun to them after all these years...BEST BAND IN THE HISTORY OF ROCK !
@ 1:21....ringo: hand-painted....painted by hand...i swear, when they were doing "blue moon kentucky", i really hated how paul was acting...@ 7:20 when ringo said "i like hanging out w/ u" i feel so touched...
I never got around to catching up with the special features when the anthology was released. thanks to whoever posted this, it's a realy treat for beatles fans

I wonder what George would say today if he was asked about meeting Elvis again....you'd need a psychic medium, but I'd personally want to know.

George was a funny guy. His recalling meeting Elvis was very funny. For all their fame and fortune, they seem like pretty down to earth guys.

@hunnyb6 If you don't mind, what's your source -- specifically with regard to the details of that day (they "quarreled earlier in the morning")?
Would love to read more about these sessions.

I hate Mark David Chapman.
Just saying.
2012 will only be the end of the world if his 7th parole attempt succeeds.

@mysteryguy1234 Course it would have. Actually, if I am not mistaken, it would have happened earlier had John not died.
