I love this version as well. They did a nice job as usual. Personally, I think Shanice has awesome intonation. Shanice and Chante Moore have some of the best backing vocals I have ever heard.
Chante is the TOTAL PACKAGE...beauty, talent, depth, humility. A true artist. Unfortunately, like the late Minnie Riperton, most will not know it until she is gone.
chante moore, my God, what a beautiful voice this woman has...I had the pleasure of seeing this woman live and OMG, I can't begin to tell you how crystal clear and beautiful her voice is...her range had me on cloud nine...and I often wonder how the music industry could not back this woman like they do all these non-singers out today like Beyonce, Chante would sing rings around her, even Jazz&RB singer Ledisi another wonderful voice in music that gets over looked. Chante & Ledisi my favs...
i think its not that shes not minnie, shes not! nor iz she trying to be, tha awesum thang iz shes gifted just as ms.minnie, was, and she loved tha song and sung it well in my opinion! I loved minnies version and i love chanta's version as well.tha way she sang is SOUL as well too!Stop judging!!!
Amazing how much hate there is on one of the purest voices in R&B. Minnie Ripperton is an original, so it will be hard for anyone to match her version. Doubt anyone will ever match Chante Moore's version of her hits. But name another artist today that can hit those notes so pure and soulful. Then after you name her, post a copy of a Minnie Ripperton origninal and your artist of choice as proof.
I do agree that Chante does a great job with this Minnie cover and has a great voice... but you have to admit that Shanice sings the hell out of "Loving You." After those two my list most certainly ends. This is not a dis twards you... just an observation.
Shanice notes are flat! It's amazing that people can't tell when someone is singing out of tune! There's more to it that being able to sing high notes! Shanice's intonation is terrible and her control is not that great either. Professionals have to train their voice. But kids today think they can just walk in off the street and make records! Sorry, but you have to put in more work than that!
You are certainly welcome to your opinion about Shanices singing... but she has been well trained by Seth Riggs since she was a teenager. She has headlined on Broadway in Les Miserables and performed for Kings and Princes around the world. Before she ever recorded an album she was on Kids incorporated, she sang with Ella Fitzgerald and she was on Broadway with "Get Happy." She has a beautiful spirit that comes through in her voice, and she has paid her dues.
this is one of my favorite Minnie Ripperton songs. Although Chante and Kenny sound great vocally, this rendition is lacking something. Its missing some of the soul. Minnie's version just takes you there.
Diana Ross didn't sing she sounded like she was crying threw all of her songs. she was so damn annoying. The only reason she is an icon is cause in the 70's everyone was high and stoned.
Chante can't hit the notes and sustain them the way Minnie could. That's not even up for debate.
Chante may have more talent than Ross, I'll give you that. However, Diana has longevity behind her. She could put out something like this and it would sell. Chante did and you see the results.
Diana Ross on her best day could never sing as well as Chante Moore on her worse day. Minnie Riperton is an all time hall of famer but Chante is on her level as a vocalist...On Diana Ross you can only be speaking in terms of level of celebrity not talent
cant believe its the first timei am hearing this one.andi am a chante moore fan from even before her first album came out. shows how this song was poorely promoted. yes, she is not minnie ripperton but take out that hey pitch note minnie ripperton does and you have barely an average voice. she was overated sad to say but i regretfully believe that. chante sounds has a diana ross like quality but cleaner and better.
Anybody who buys a remake of a Minnie Riperton song is wasting their money. No offense, AquariusSoul76, video is nice. It's just that the artists should have left this song alone. I notice at 2:28 Chante only held the note for 3 seconds.
I agree totally. I don't think this is as good as the original, BIG UPS to Chante for keeping her legacy alive. The whistle octive would not be as popular if it had not been for minnie. Lol
SING Y'ALL!!! Minnie (RIP) & Peabo rocked the original, but it's something about this version that gets me grooving and steppin'. Chante' and Kenny not only look great together, they also compliment each other on duets and their sound is tight. Nicely done!!
Thanks for posting this and all the other beautiful music on your channel. Minnie, Niecy and Stephanie literal raised the bar, and i believe they are being honored when current artists ATTEMPT to perform their music. Chante is one of those rare artist who can!
Wow!!!! I've never heard people be so harsh. I think they did a nice cover of this song. But there are so many people who don't have talent, like to tear down those who do i.e,(Dynamo001) you're so harsh. But then again, that's why Chante & Kenny have record contracts and you don't. Keep doing your thang Chante, you really are a talented singer.
I can agree with you somewhat. Moore is definitely no Minnie but when artist do covers I think they are paying them honor and showing them respect. I like the original version better as well, but I would have to disagree with you about Peabo not belonging in the original. He brought a sexy soulfulness to the song as a duet that made it what it is. Also, I think Kenny CAN hold Peabo's mic!!!
Peabo didn't belong in the original because it wasn't a duet. Peabo's voice was added in after Minnie was already deceased. Her husband took it upon himself to alter songs Minnie already finished and converted the album into a tribute album with guest voices.
I realize that. I can tell by the way it was mixed that it wasn't meant to be a duet initially. But I still think that at least on that song Minnie's husband made a good decision to add Peabo's part. Just my opinion.
I agree that Minnie and Peabo did an amazing job, but i like how this version is a little more upbeat and there is something a bit more crisp here. BUT, Minnie and Peabo had a magical emotion that this song doesn't. This version makes me want to grab my baby and hand dance though.
I love Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore's music. I own all of their CD's...solo and duet projects however, I must say the original by Minnie Riperton and Peabo Bryson whip circles around this version. It's not a bad cover...it's just one of those songs that was nailed the first time and should have been left alone. It's like all the artists that covered This Christmas by Donnie Hathaway and Light My Fire by The Doors. No cover has ever come close to sounding as good as the original songs.
What is your problem? Did you even read my comment? You must be really young or just ignorant. The last time I checked, I was entitled to my own opinion. I don't have to love this version because you do. As I stated before, I own all of her CD's (including the duet ones)and am a huge fan of her work, however, I prefer the original.
Im stating my opinion also. You seem lost talking about age. It's alot of old fools you can't teach. Maturity is in the mind not age. You a str8 damn fool. I don't care how many cd's you owe. You want a cookie? Real Talk
lol really young or jus agnorant......It's tru God does save fools lol

Man I love this song! It is my favorite on their 1st duet album, well this and With You I's Born Again! I thought I was the only Chante Fanatic out there! I took a picture with her and its the screensaver on my phone..lol
Compares well with Minnie Riperton and Peabo Bryson's original.

Chante does a nice job but she's no Minnie Riperton. Kenny Latimore does a good job and actually sounds a bit like Peabo Bryson.
Also, the background singers could've been more more soulful.
Overall, nice tribute.
