I love this version as well. They did a nice job as usual. Personally, I think Shanice has awesome intonation. Shanice and Chante Moore have some of the best backing vocals I have ever heard.

Amazing how much hate there is on one of the purest voices in R&B. Minnie Ripperton is an original, so it will be hard for anyone to match her version. Doubt anyone will ever match Chante Moore's version of her hits. But name another artist today that can hit those notes so pure and soulful. Then after you name her, post a copy of a Minnie Ripperton origninal and your artist of choice as proof.

I do agree that Chante does a great job with this Minnie cover and has a great voice... but you have to admit that Shanice sings the hell out of "Loving You." After those two my list most certainly ends. This is not a dis twards you... just an observation.

Shanice notes are flat! It's amazing that people can't tell when someone is singing out of tune! There's more to it that being able to sing high notes! Shanice's intonation is terrible and her control is not that great either. Professionals have to train their voice. But kids today think they can just walk in off the street and make records! Sorry, but you have to put in more work than that!

You are certainly welcome to your opinion about Shanices singing... but she has been well trained by Seth Riggs since she was a teenager. She has headlined on Broadway in Les Miserables and performed for Kings and Princes around the world. Before she ever recorded an album she was on Kids incorporated, she sang with Ella Fitzgerald and she was on Broadway with "Get Happy." She has a beautiful spirit that comes through in her voice, and she has paid her dues.

this is one of my favorite Minnie Ripperton songs. Although Chante and Kenny sound great vocally, this rendition is lacking something. Its missing some of the soul. Minnie's version just takes you there.

Chante can't hit the notes and sustain them the way Minnie could. That's not even up for debate.

Chante may have more talent than Ross, I'll give you that. However, Diana has longevity behind her. She could put out something like this and it would sell. Chante did and you see the results.

Also, the background singers could've been more more soulful.

cant believe its the first timei am hearing this one.andi am a chante moore fan from even before her first album came out. shows how this song was poorely promoted. yes, she is not minnie ripperton but take out that hey pitch note minnie ripperton does and you have barely an average voice. she was overated sad to say but i regretfully believe that. chante sounds has a diana ross like quality but cleaner and better.

I can agree with you somewhat. Moore is definitely no Minnie but when artist do covers I think they are paying them honor and showing them respect. I like the original version better as well, but I would have to disagree with you about Peabo not belonging in the original. He brought a sexy soulfulness to the song as a duet that made it what it is. Also, I think Kenny CAN hold Peabo's mic!!!

Peabo didn't belong in the original because it wasn't a duet. Peabo's voice was added in after Minnie was already deceased. Her husband took it upon himself to alter songs Minnie already finished and converted the album into a tribute album with guest voices.

Nice gesture, but a bad decision.

I agree that Minnie and Peabo did an amazing job, but i like how this version is a little more upbeat and there is something a bit more crisp here. BUT, Minnie and Peabo had a magical emotion that this song doesn't. This version makes me want to grab my baby and hand dance though.

I love Chante Moore and Kenny Lattimore's music. I own all of their CD's...solo and duet projects however, I must say the original by Minnie Riperton and Peabo Bryson whip circles around this version. It's not a bad cover...it's just one of those songs that was nailed the first time and should have been left alone. It's like all the artists that covered This Christmas by Donnie Hathaway and Light My Fire by The Doors. No cover has ever come close to sounding as good as the original songs.
