@ccraig412 contrary to norma belief it is actually VERY efficient, but it has such low power output that the uses are quite limited. see the flywheel needs to be spun up by hand before the engine will acctually start working.
if calibrated correctly the engine cant get approx 35.324% effieciency.. which is about 9 to 10% more efficient than todays multi piston engines.
wow i have just bought a ideal engine from canada but i have not got it shipped over to england yet. the one that i have bought it a 1916 and its a upright one
@boomboom2005 You want respect? Watch your words, do not be like a dog ... we all die one day, so what? Are you trying to scare me with this? Hahaha ...!))))) I live where people are dying every day.....
not that ideal in nowadays. there is robotic lawnmowers which runs with electricity not gasoline. Also they do you're lawn automatically so no need to even get up.
This is a really interesting concept. I think a similar technology is being experimented with on the vehicle at daphysics2010 com. You should check it out.
@dacheckthisout2010 so youre saying that a hit and miss motor is the same as an electric motor(what is said to be in the car on the site provided) and the lutec magnet motor? you posted the exact same thing on that video... theres only one word to describe your comment and they happen to have a button for it. SPAM
With no load like this it is just idling and the firing rate is slow, but if you put on a heavy load it will fire much more often, can get up to a rapid putt-putt-putt sound. The wheels never spin any faster though.
To me, that's what engines should sound like.......Sound. Now days engines are made to be smooth and silent in most cars and even lawnmowers. But this is a simple time where you still heard an engine poot and pop like an engine should. Just sayin.
this is a hit and miss engine.. my pa has a bunch of them, we actually used all them around the farm to run elevators and augers and stuff... they are cool
very cool that you got it running and kept it running good!! It would do people some good to remember where we came FROM instead of looking to what we can buy tomorrow
@Lotum4n Yes, it is the engine from the Ark, it fact the fuel prices for it are mentioned too: "For the Magic Water costeth nay 3 bushells, but 5. "(Genesis 6:9)

Because inefficient engines with no Horse Power are in such high demand.
46Mongoose 10 months ago
how come this has 3/4 horse power? it has one combustion at 3 seconds, it feels like the engine has a lot of weight to push. very weighty flywheel
ElMirc 11 months ago
@ElMirc its got a governor keeping it at low revs, if you apply a load to the output it will fire more often to maintain the revs.

My Grandpap had a general store up in WV and used one of these to
grind coffee in a huge cast iron mill, (in those days all you could get
was burlap bags of BEANS- you had to grind 'em yourself).

Sounds like a "hit-and-miss". It uses heavy flywheels to keep it rotating until it can hit the combustion stroke again.
