The majority of northern Irish people did not want to stay part of the UK and that can be clearly seen by the fact that three of the counties of Ulster were excluded from the partitioned state in order to give the Unionists a phoney majority which they could then use to veto a united Ireland.

Im an Irish Catholic by birth (although I converted to the Church of Ireland a few years ago). Ive lived in Ireland all my life and I love my country. Ireland, just like most countries, have enough problems to cope with today (unemployment rate hitting double digits) without having to deal with the old fashioned, narrow minded and sectarian attitudes which led to such disaster in the past.

what I meant about Cromwell was when we conquested Ireland fully. Under Henry II, we came into Ireland at the request of the King of leinster. He wanted our help to conquer the other kingdoms in Ireland. When he died and left no heir, the lands we helped him win should be rightfully ours. After that we pissed off probs due to boredom and we only controlled the Pale of Dublin. While the rest of Ireland controlled itself effectively.

Sad stuff the 1625 list, but this isn't why the troubles started. The troubles began because of Irish protestants and Catholics fighting one another in 1969. The British army fought and engaged the loyalist militias as well (the SAS actually saved the life of a republican political figure from loyalist thugs). Now there is peace, and Ireland can leave the violence behind. And so should you.
And this may surprise you, but I am descended from a family who lost loved ones to the black-and-tans.

Ireland, just like most countries, have enough problems to cope with today (unemployment rate hitting double digits) without having to deal with the old fashioned, narrow minded and sectarian attitudes which led to such disaster in the past.

Learn your history! Pinochet was not shielded by us, the Blair goverment arrested him on a visit to London. Mugabe was elected by the Zimbabwean people after it became independant (Thatcher actually favoured another candidate). A bloke dressing up in a Nazi uniform at a fancy dress party is hardly the bloody Nuremberg Rally. And no one cheered him on, he was rightly labelled a twat for doing it. Do you know how many people the Argentinian Junta killed in its OWN country?
About 20,000. The Belgrano lost about 300. The only crimianls here were that bunch of murderes who stole power in Argentina in the late 70's.

The PIRA were as much a threat to Irish democracy as they were to democracy in the UK. As a patriotic Irishman, I find the actions of the PIRA absolutely repulsive and I have a visceral reaction to them. Many people seem to forget that they have also murdered politicians, police and ordinary people south of the border here in the Republic too. I thank God they're out of business!

thank gog my fouks did that so now i my self and my chiderin dont have to suffrer all the shit they had to offer back then all party talks would never make the english stop killing inosent irish people but the bombing would give the irish catholic people so much respect it would pave way for the next talks and the feinal end bend of the english goverment that they wont kill any more and that was enough for us coz now we have the know how we dont need a lot more ha ha ha ha u cant kill the irish
