Reminds me of my great grandfathers funeral back in Winchester, my dad was playing this in the car while we following the coffin to the cemetery for burial, I was 10 years of age back on the 27th March 1992...a sad but sobering moment for the great man he was, evaluating the meaning of life and death...this sound track writes all of our final chapters in life :)

I was recently introduced to symphony orchestra music... this is the first thing I've ever heard. I'm beside myself...

Someone who I care about that studied in NYC introduced me to this. He said that it is one of his favorite compositions.

It feels like a battle... or like a ship rocked by a stormy sea and the crew is trying to weather the storm.

Love the constant tension with these super-long melodies that just won't resolve. Anybody else feel a bit winded after listening to this?

We used to have this with sunday lunch when I was 8. Strangely, I don't recall this being quite so long in total. I remember bits from the first movement, and also the bit after the horn solo in the 4th. I might get this on CD...
