nice vid all u have to do is pop the part that says hitachi out instead of the first part of the video but still the only video ive seen that goes step by step clearly, thumbs up
Thanks for the video. The HD enclosure simehow got damaged. I was able to remove HD and place in another external enclosure and recoveer all my files.
@BoobTubeTVNetwork Hey I have a power blown fuse. The Hitachi can't seem to power on when i plug in the power adapter. Do u know if i can switch to a differnt external enclosure? thnks
People like the author of this vid must be restricted from hi-tech by the law. Brutally cracking the shell with screwdrivers, OMG!.. There is more gentle way to open it. Just remove the front panel (with HITACHI letters) and unscrew 2 screws, man!!!!
@cheburatorish Thanks for the tip. I had ZERO issues and no effort into opening this enclosure after your two cents! I sure am glad I like to read comments before going on the brutal assult!
@cheburatorish true, but if it's the first one you've ever opened and you don't know the trick you may have to brutalize it the first time. Your comment gets closer to the answer but you don't say *how* to remove the front panel. The trick: Front panel has a catch tab on either side. It's long enough that you can see the end of it looking with a flashlight through the topmost side vent hole. Use something thin and push it in the vent hole and catch the tab and push a couple mm. It will pop out.
Sweet. I have this same drive. It quit working, as in it doesn't fire up. I have a hunch that it's a faulty USB connection on the internal drives behalf. It powers up, but there is no connection to the computer. Forgive my lack of knowledge, but I should be able to open this up, go to fry's, buy a new enclosure and put the HD in there and be back in business, correct?

Thanks so much for the video! I opened it without any major problems at all. The slide part originally confused me, but I got it.
