Apparently Conan Doyle didn't let Leblanc use his character so he slightly changed the name. But it's blatantly obvious... :D

It is, in fact the original edition of the short story "Sherlock Holmes arrives too late" from 1906 did feature him by name. however Conan Doyle objected and since then he's been Herlock Sholmes. They did actually meet under their own names in the computer game Sherlock Homes: Nemesis.
