Thank you for the video. I was wondering if you have ever used Re-Fit to dual boot your Mac? With Re-Fit, you no longer have to hold down the option key to choose which OS to boot into. Re-Fit gives you an interface.
Can you help me? Can I use WinClone to make an image of my T23 hard drive running Win XP Pro onto an external drive, then install that image from my external hard drive to a partition created by BootCamp on my MacBook?
@ibabaloo yes, but the T23 HDD 'winclone file' would have to be saved in your mac os x. i don't think you can save the file to an external HDD unless it is an official mac external HDD made for specifically mac os x. i'm not quite sure if those do exist but your better off saving the clone file in your mac os x and restoring from there.
i think the quickest way for this process is to use winclone at first with the mother HDD then use superduper to copy mac os x to the new daughter HDD then to just perform the restoration from the new copied mac os x clone using winclone again
@ilovetodayy o nvm. to anyone reading my post please disregard. i ended up not having enough space on my mother HDD for the mac os x partition in this process. stupid me. OP process is absolute.
Dave I got a quick question for you: Im using Winclone because I need to repartition my hard rive for more space. I made the image , repartitioned bootcamp, and everything else but when I went to restore this image in my new bootcamp, i forgot to do the mount button that you showed. When I restored it my computer could not find the boot driver to get into bootcamp. Everything was cloned int he bootcamp when I viewed it in Disk Utiility, but the computer couldnt find where to boot from. Help?
I wanted to make the partition I had for windows 7 a little bigger and the disc I have for it was only for one computer. I'm I correct in assuming that I would need to put in the product code again and since I've already used it once I wouldn't be able to do this?
Is it the right time to buy a mac or should i wait a while for the new realese? its been a year since the imac in october. The imac 21.5 has the same specs as my rig atm just better graphics card ect ;) i wants to get an imac or macbook pro
@imtomcom The Macbook Pros were updated back in April... The iMac is expected to be updated within the next couple of months... Most likely at the latest September...
em is it a good time to buy a mac? i either want an i mac 21.5 or a macbook pro
does anyone know when mac will be releasing any soon casue its nearly been a year since they brang out the i mac (newer version) and the specs are nearly the same as my rig atm =P

You can use blu-ray on the mac. The system hardware itself is just not supporting a built in blu-ray drive, but is it really that big of a deal? You wouldn't be able to notice the quality difference on a macbook anyway.
@thebsdguy Actually, you are able to access bluray playback on a mac with an external bluray drive. I don't mean to sound like a dick as if I am showing you up or anything, just responding to your comment.
@thebsdguy There is no official app from apple that lets you play blu-ray, no. But by connecting an external drive and using a third party app you can play the content, but you will lack all menus, it is just the movie. I can't demonstrate as I do not own an external drive or a single blu-ray disc.
@thebsdguy Sorry about the very long delay, I've had internet troubles regarding excess charges. Anyway, the software is called MakeMKV. Once again, sorry about the really long delay.
@TheMusicianDood But you have to agree that converting an entire movie (which takes a good while) in order to watch it is nowhere as convenient as, well, just watching it.
@thebsdguy I do agree, but instead of everyone complaining that you can't watch bluray movies on your mac, which wouldn't really give you the full quality if you were watching it on a macbook, they should check to see if it is possible, or buy a bluray player.
Hi Dave, Actually you can use Win 7 Back up to restore your Win 7 partition in one step. When you create a back up you can choose to create a system image (if you have chosen a different drive to save that back up to). Then by either using a repair or installation disc you should be able to restore that system image as long as the partition you're restoring it to is equal or larger than the partition you backed up. Please note this will restore your apps as well. Cheers
If you want to run windows its better to use a virtual machine like vmware fusion or parallels rather than using bootcamp. The virtual machine will use space as needed unlike bootcamp where you have to partition the hard drive and specify the amount of space needed. Also, vmware fusion and parallels have built in tools like acronis true image so you can backup windows as a sparse image and restore it if anything goes bad, similar to time machine.
@davedudeit Yeah, you're right. You do get half the power using vmware .It really depends on how you're going to be using windows. If you're a heavy gamer then bootcamp is for you. However, if you want to run windows and mac side by side then vmware is for you.
Windows backup is crap, it doesn't backup your applications completely like timemachine does. You still have to reinstall all of your applications after you restore all your files with windows backup.
Win clone is completely unreliable. The net is full of reported disasters. I would find another option.

Great information - I just used winclone for the first time to free up some space on my bootcamp partition - very good piece of software.

@leunghkj
Try going into preferences and uncheck all buttons ans boxes except "use Mountable , etc...." should work. If not
search for version 2.3 which works with Lion.

What about VMware Fusion? Isn't this the way to go? Other than windows games (dual booting) you should not have any problems.
