Rachelle great tutorial. I've love all of your tutorials that I viewed. Yes, I've watched alot of them. Some several times. In this one you said, "you detangled, braided your hair and washed it." Did you wash your hair with it braided? I want to try this out. Thanks in advance.
@meyimani7 Yes I washed it with braids/twists in it. (4) It works fine. When it's time to condition I've found it's easier to take the twists a loose to prevent (my hair) from tangling at the ends. My hair is on the fine side so it tangles very easily. You may not need to do that. I hope that helps and you're welcome!
Hey Rachelle! I just found your channel from stylehaul! You are so funny and gorgeous! I have curly hair as well but mine is looser and i have the same problem where the bottom layer of my hair is thinner than the top do you ever find that your bottom layer of hair is much longer? I don't know why but my hair will sometimes do that and it will also sometimes get shorter, do you know why that might be? Thank you for the tips, I'm definitely trying this!
I just found you on you tube. I am so glad. Great information and you made me laugh and smile. I can't wait to view all of your other videos. More videos soon please!
BTW. Can you use oil instead of conditioner. I use a cinnamon oil as a prepoo before wash and i was wondering if i can use that as a substitute for conditioner after detangling?
omg. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TEACHING THIS. My hair gets tangled up also especially at the back just like yours. There's alway that little ball of hair that won't let go, I used just cut the balls out but I'm so glad you showed your way of dealing with it. Thank you.
Your twist is really cute when you applied your moisterizer on it. You should twist your whole hair like that with flat twist in the front. That would be a really cute hair do.
Nice vid! I love a wash n go too. My hair is relaxed but for some reason when it's wet it still curls up a bit so some days I'll just let it curl up and air dry or if I want tighter curls I'll scrunch it while blow drying it, so simple.
Thank you for that hair haul i'm a try the carefree curl maybe it will work for me and my daughter. We are both natural she has long I think 4a hair type and me too, when I do detangle her hair it hurts her i'm gonna give this a try thanks.
Hi! I've been natural for ab 12 yrs & have found that understanding your own individual hair is a great learning process. The website: Curlynikki>thebasics>detangling has some great detangling tips. I recommend detangling fairly regularly if wearing wash-n-go's a lot. This prevents knots from even happening. You can also make a detangling spray (there's tons of vids on this) w/ ingredients to benefit the hair. The care free curl is basically water, glycerine & silicones. Hope this 2 cents helps!
O swears breakage and tangling happens because we don't sleep on satin pillows. I wear a satin scarf it helps but often fall off while I'm sleeping. Do you do protective style (twists, or braids,) at night?
I love Care Free Curl products. I have both the Moisturizer and the Activator. Old school is always best to me because they don't have all these chemicals a lot of products have now. Thanks for sharing your routine.
Girl, get the Tangle Teezer, it's at Sally's Beauty Supply for $9.99, that thang is awesome! I don't have any hair breakage at all when detangling my hair.
I like your method I often do that alot with my dry hair, and I use the mane, ntale detangler which is great on dry hair. I would like to know how you keep up with your ends and how you trim them, especially if you believe that that helps with hair growth.
@99SweetCheecks I haven't trimmed my ends since my big chop last September. I think trimming is necessary if your ends are unhealthy or uneven but so far so good. I'll keep you posted if I do.
Lol, THIS IS NOT ABOUT PRETTY. Thanks for showing us, I don't know if it will work for me because I have straight from Nigeria, African hair. Although I've lived in America all my life, I can't seem to find ANYTHING to help my hair gain strength or untangle knots. :(
@madisynk lol if you got that true African grain it ought to be strong enough! Maybe it's the moisture you're lacking. Try deep conditioning every time you wash and moisturizing and sealing every night. Also try the Shea butter and mix it with some castor oil. give it a try and let me know if it works!
@borderhammer@borderhammer That sounds like a good idea. I've heard a lot about Castor Oil but my hair is in braids because when I take my hair out they just start to shed and by the end of 2 months my hair that use to be the middle of my neck is now to my jaw and it happens every time I take it out. Is there anything I can do for my hair WHILE it's in braids or I have tracks. ( Thanks so much for the Idea!)
Thanks for sharing. Its funny because people think that if your hair is soft & wavy that you don't have knots. My hair is very knotty so I keep it mosturized & try to be more gentle too.
@yazmynarlene Hey Yaz, I'm relaxed too. When I do a wash n go, there is no braidout or anything done. I use regular conditioner as a leave-in. Also I never towel dry, I find I get smoother less frizz without it. I just squeeze out the excess water. Hope this helps!
keeping your hair in more stretched styles may help reduce all the tangles. I can only imagine the amount of patience this takes, this is great advice I'm going to find me some carefree curl!lol
I second @MsChanteJ72's comment about the tangle teezer. I normally don't jump on 'hyped items' but I was desperate to detangle my hair and picked it up in Sallys...and it is the truth!!! I have extremely thick, coarse, and kinky hair and it's only 9 bucks, and it works wonderfully : ) Cut my detangling time down from 45 mins to 15 mins.
Sally's sells this brush called the 'Tangle Teaser' and that thing works like a charm! I'm transitioning to natural and this brush has literally been a life saver!
