Medicare struggles because of a basic flaw in capitalism. When profits are not being made businesses jump ship... no where to be found. Old, sickly Americans need help... that's why there is Social Security, Medicare and veterans services. Actually, I'm more of a moderate. My views are all over the board. I have however been watching and listening all year so far. Seemingly, everything that the Dems try to do is opposed by the GOP. They did have a hand in it's contents due to the negotiation process. How else would you explain the section banning public funding for abortion. I have no real problem with it, but it did come from the GOP.

The Republicans were left out of negotiations for the bill. They were done in secret by Democrats only, with Republicans not even invited. McCain said so. The transparency Obama promised missing again. The Republicans didn'd draft the bill at all, but when they went to vote, that is when the Sestak Amendment came up. Republicans had zero to do with the drafting of this bill.
