  • 5:16 - 5:25 LOL

  • one of my favorite songs of allll tiiime

  • I think Frunobulax the poodle might be offended.

  • KILL PATRICK! YEAH!

  • I grew up in France... trust me, their education system is far superior to the American one.

  • 51 people aren't genius in France.

  • @Eragon64 Learn to pluralize. You're one of those "geniuses."

  • @Shadowinchester Nice troll anyway, but if you haven't funny things to say, shut up.

  • @Eragon64 It was funny, you're just a sad and overweight human and want to bring me down by saying I'm not funny, when in actuality, it's you who isn't funny.

  • @Shadowinchester Shut up pathetic kid.

  • @Eragon64 No! Leggo, raaagge! You're a failure at life! Raaage!

  • Yes.

  • You didn't understand the "instructions on the heel" joke!

  • This is a stupid video but funny, so I had to dislilke. Is that alrgiht genius in France?

  • I have to admit that I don't just listen to his songs because they're funny-- The guy's got talent, pretty decent singing voice and I'm sure would be better if he weren't being comical. But his way of arranging vocals is really clever and surprisingly skillful, I KNOW I'M TALKING ABOUT WEIRD AL OKAY but srsly.

  • 4 pi to the power of -7, thats pretty cold.

  • This song is like an amazingly detailed picture that you can look at over and over again and fine something you missed last time. Great attention to detail here by Al and his band- I hope this gets some kid to Google "Zappa" and open up that awesome Pandora's Box that is Frank.

  • 3:45 Oui?

  • Oh fuck... I'm French... I'm gonna hang myself up...

  • Could you make a more accurate Zappa parody?

  • 1:39 to 1:45 sounds like Mario's Metal Cap from Super Mario 64 and Wario and Yoshi's Power Flowers from Super Mario 64 DS.

  • putain il m'a achevé hahahahaha j'en pleure encore de rire :'D

  • y you beat up poor Patrick?! what he ever do to u? lol! XD

  • ONLY ONE MAN CAN PARODY FRANK, & MAKE IT 9 MIN. LONG. FRANK SMILES EVERY TIME THIS PLAYS

  • I always saw it as the instructions being on the bottom of the heel. Makes it funnier.

  • POO-DLE! POO-DLE!

  • HMMM, LOOOKS LIKE YO GUITAR WAS TRYING TO KILL YO MAMA!

  • um... i just noticed sumthing, it's not s'il vous plait, its s'il tu plait

  • @shobrodude it would help if you posted an explanation alongside this...

  • @1337Koios s'il vous plait adresses them seeking to multiple people or someone they know personally, s'il tu plait adresses someone who you have respect for but dont entirely know.

  • who here likes when he say's "and i don't know how to dance" he sings it off-tune slightly?

  • This is amazing!! How long did it take you to make this??

  • I represent the guy singing 100%

Except for thinking that the French are the most polite and awesome people in the world.

  • Nice tribute to Frank Zappa

  • That vid was sexxy ( I'm a dude so don't take it the wrong way)

  • Nice font work, by the way.

  • Zapp... er, Yankovic at his finest.

  • They think I'm awfully witty

    A dispencer and a half

When I build a small sentry,

    They sap!

    - HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW

  • Hmhmhmhmhm... Pauvre France. Perhaps France would have tended to be less ridiculed by much of the world at large if it were not rather handicapped by such poor broad overall leadership in the course of the early portion of WWII, in particular. I really think so, although there is a ways more to it than that.

  • I'm pretty sure by "charm" he meant charisma, not the cereal

  • @PSG0113 A guy calling someone else an imbecile in only second-rate grammar. Weird Al would love the irony of that.

  • @MetaLink13 How is that "second-rate" grammar? You should realize it is both a noun and an adjective. Maybe you are just mad about the Slav comment xD

  • @PSG0113 Whereas the French couldn't colonize a region and leave it in a better condition than, say, Haiti.

  • @celestialtriceratops lol...that's bc Haitians live there...xD....French would build wells and schools and then they would come back years later to find that brigands had just destroyed them...

  • its a tribute, its a pretty simple concept.

  • Makes you wonder who the biggest dork in France is

  • One gigantic insult to the French, lol The quoi quoi quoi quoi quoi is just weird al taking the piss out of the way the French language sounds, like "oui oui (wee wee!)"

I like the bit near the end where al gets political "a little more to the left boys" I'm sure he's having a go at French politics, that they're a little more left wing, or maybe I'm reading too much into it

  • @TheMarrification As far as I know, Weird Al doesn't really mention politics in his song, so that's probably you over-analyzing, yeah.

And as a French man, I loved this song. Beside, it's not like we never make fun of Americans for being stupid, haha!

  • @Canaveral305 lol we do that to Americans too. Some friends of mine were out hiking on the moors, which are quite exposed and you need to take extra clothing and supplies, they came across a couple in just ordinary shoes, shorts and a t shirt, they were cold and needed to know where to get shelter, they just said to this couple "are you stupid or are you just American?!", lol

  • at 7:50 it sounds just like 2:40 on Another Brick in the Wall Part 1 by Pink Floyd! LOL

  • @mrxxy Interesting comment. I took another listen to the Wall and I can't really agree with. But if you compare it to 2:10 of this Zappa vid (/watch?v=VF_Nmkjmt_k) you'll hear what Al's making an attempt to quote at that point in his vid. Or trying to, anyway -- I've never heard anybody savage a guitar quite like Zappa could.

  • He sounds hugely similar to Zappa on this. I'm gonna go put Joe's Garage in.

  • I do believe Dwezil Zappa played guitar on this

  • @DemonWarp65 He even sounds like Zappa on a lot of the songs on this record, it's incredible

  • heavy cream LOL the best part of the video

  • POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODLESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • This is so hilariously Zappa. Perfect parody, and Frank would totally love it.

  • This song is way too long but its good :)

  • quick question: what the F**k does "quoi quoi quoi quoi quoi ooo-wee-ooo" mean??????!!!!!!!

  • Dweezil himself played the opening solo. :D

  • @ALXXMaXX and all of the other solos.

  • "POODLE. POODLE."

Just in case there wasn't enough poodle.

  • greatest song ever

  • my favourite part of the song is 5:15 - 5:33

  • WOW U ARE AN ARTIST

  • 48 idiots are french

  • @Masterbaterbear

Only 48? France in a country of smart guys after all :)

  • @cendriR no it's not

  • Zappa would be proud... except he'd probably ask for more references to feminine bodily functions.

  • @deadlittlechildren

Zappa was fond of France (cf "In France" et al.) and this is an homage to Zappa.

Al, unlike too many, realizes that everything isn't about politics and there are places where political crap doesn't belong. In other words, he's intelligent and emotionally well-adjusted.

  • Comment removed

  • "i'm the biggest dork there is alive"

    *GASP*!!! he stole my title!

  • dude, great video, i love this! great illustration :) subscribed

  • This changes style SO many times. I guess thats Zappa for you.

  • 3:45 its spelt "oui"

  • @supermarioryan1234 that's the point. it's supposed to be funny so it's spelled wrong. and 'spelt' is not a word.

  • 7:00 its hypno-toad!

  • I love how many Zappa references there are: the intensely insane guitar intro, mentioning of the Poodle, "Great Googly Moogly," Zappa's R&B inspired background vocals, having Dweezil play the guitar solo, the snorting noises at 4:50 (much like in "Brown Shoes Don't Make It"), and the stupid/ridiculous outro line.

  • Who had the best guns at the end of WWII?

France, once dropped, never shot, "I give up!"

  • I am hardly a guitar whiz, but I have a few insane solo freak outs

  • @themooddisorders watch?v=8Brp5_HEGzw

  • the worst part is 9:00, and the best part is 0:00/9:00

  • all me apart from all of it

  • Too much serious music, its nice to take a break :)

  • @JaoquinQ

Man this is one of his best. Total Zappa, and that is something I never thought AL could have pulled off. This is a tribute

  • this takes me back to 8th grade

  • @phazan haha takes me back to 8th grade to when my friend introduced me to this song

  • @SorrowsLife lol well i showed all my friends this song when I was in 8th grade maybe i know you

  • luffylvr676 It is qui. Not an o, it's a Q

  • poooor patrick D :

  • Oh and its not "wee". Its qui. That means yes in french.

  • @GunBlade79 i thought it was oui

  • @GunBlade79 French for yes is "Oui" French for Who? is"Qui?"

  • Oh my God nice "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast" reference! Out of all of Al's "epic" songs (Trapped in the Drive Thru, Genius in France, and Albuquerque) I personally prefer Albuquerque, which is ironically where I am right now! Hopefully we'll see a song like this on his next album.

  • POODLE.

    POODLE.

  • @TheYuseiFan

sign my poodle, s'il vous plait!!!

  • God, this sounds so much like zappa he did a great rip off.

  • @PGROSYE02 Dude, it IS Zappa. Well this is a parody.

  • @PGROSYE02 Dude, its a parody

  • @zillionxXx i rekon Dog Breath, In The Year Of The Plague is pretty close to what you're looking for. its from Uncle Meat.

  • This is one of my favorite songs by him! I love it :D

  • wow i never rly noticed it but there like a ton of gramatical mistakes in this video. now i don't mean to be mean i just wanted to point that out

  • lol. Great job. Especially the "Hoom Chaka Laka" xD

  • Great Bobby Martin impersonation!

  • Talk about the ultimate Zappa tribute. Frank would have been ECSTATIC at this!!! He even included a doo-wop riff. Frank loved goofing on doo-wop. Great video, I laugh enough at the song, and this was way creative. Good job man!!

  • 7:50 - 8:14 = amasing

  • well if his IQ is lower than the temperature and hes a genius in france. what does that tell us about frenchies?

  • @islagkage15963 It's hot in France ? :0

  • @TheAmazingSpoonGuy not right now it snow down there

  • i only watch these vids for the song. all this guys animations suck

  • i only watch cuz i wanna hear the song. all this dudes animations kinda suck ass

  • 4:39 um... je ne SAIS quoi... that little detail just bothered me a teeny bit :/

  • NO! NOT PATRICK!!!!! lol

  • Weird Al's music and sense of humor always reminded me of Frank Zappa, even before this song was written. I am sure Zappa is one of his main influences. This song is great! Im glad he paid this homage!

  • @MrOhMyGodADouche-I know it is, but what exactly distinguishes this as a style parody

  • @thegunclub123 Its a style parody because Weird Al sums up Zappa's musical style and plays off of it in an original song. The music and lyrics are reminiscent of many of Zappa's songs and when you hear "Genius in France" you think Frank Zappa. The same way "Close But No Cigar" is a style parody of Cake.

  • Erf, it is'nt supposed to be " Je ne c'est quoi " but " Je ne sais quoi "...

But I really like the song and the video :)

  • @TheAmazingSpoonGuy ^^ he's right y'know

  • The pictures that you put with the song are awesome. good job

  • It looks like the fine work of Microsoft Paint.

  • The people all look at me like I'm all covered with ants

    Lol

  • Frank Zappa.

  • I believe Dweezil Zappa played guitar on this.

  • @DemonWarp65 Dweezil did, Dweezil and Al are friends.

  • Now they're puttin' up my statue by the Eiffel Tower...

A little more to the left, boys, a little more to the left. A little more to the left, boys, a little more to the left.

  • lol 4:41 is taken from dog breath, from just another band from la

  • @BWSynysterUK yHea?

i love it when people spell something wrong when telling others how to spell

  • It's spelled Oui...

  • lighten up.

  • What I like about this video is you capture, through the inanity of the MSPaint artwork, the simple stupidity of both FZ and WAY, but still have the "raised eyebrow", as FZ would have said, that you are aware of your ridiculousness and flaunt it as one of your greatest strengths.

I'd like to see what you can do with better animation skills. The results would be interesting for sure.

  • Yeah really, for M$ paint, it's a heck of a video!

  • I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.

    Hello, I'm June.

Is this an original song, or is it paroyding a song?

  • It's an original song as a style parody of the eminent Frank Zappa, one of WAY's, and my, personal inspirations.

  • @kfgsuvhug Its an original song in the style of Frank Zappa

  • 2:23 POODLE POODLE Poodle Hat

  • 7:50 = awesome

  • 2:23 POODLE POODLE

  • My mom picked out my clothes for me 'till I was 35. Rofl!

  • It's All About the pentiums baby! LOL! ! ! Hey feller I'll bet your still livin in your parents cellar downloadin pictures of Sarah Michelle Gellar! LMFAO! ! !

  • Dweezil Zappa plays the guitar on this track.

  • this an original song, but takes aspects of frank zappa's music

  • Very cool. Thanks for the response.

  • Is this an original song, or is it paroyding a song?

  • It's a style parody of Frank Zappa.

  • LOL! My favorite part was 7:09 =DD

  • I hate French.

  • Oui oui.

  • =D awsome

  • i take that back i love the guy at the end!

  • I was in France a while ago,and all I could think about was this song.Too awesome!

  • Lol your drawning looks more like Spain tan the Hexagone ^^

  • Weird Al + Zappa = GENIUS

  • Yes. But only in France.

  • In case thw Never going back in spanish at 6:51 is not "nunca voy detras" is "Nunca Volvere"

  • it's how he pronounces it, though. :P

  • EXCELLENT!!!! One thing I would have changed? "Sign my poodle 'see vu play'. I would have written it like that.

  • this is a total tribute to zappa (Dwezil Zappa, zappa's son, is also the guitarist for the opening solo). It's obviously in his style, some of te solos hodl the same atttributes, and a few of zappa's song rips on the french

  • Great Number&Vid!!!!

  • This is true to Zappa. This is the first time I have heard it. What year did this come out?

  • 2003 On his Poodle Hat album. :)

  • Weird Al he is the King of Lamb Pencils

  • if al is an idiot here, but a genius in france,

doesnt that make the french ppl.....ummm

  • Yes.

  • 1) Music is a goof on Zappa.

    2) Lyric is a goof on Jerry Lewis, who was widely considered a one-trick-pony here in the US, but revered as a comic genius in France.

Watch a movie that was made before 1980 sometime. Catch some tunes made prior to that point as well. It can only help.

Al is paying homage to the Maestro, and tipping his hat to a comedy legend at the same time - and doing both in highly irreverant fashion.

  • I agree but would only argue that Lewis is not a stupid man and Al would never put him down - this might be derivative of Lewis but certainly is not meant to be a depiction. This is genius in America here, paying mostly homage to another American genius, and referring lightly to yet another American genius. A lot of geniuses here.

  • @TheMetalChefOnline Too true.

  • @TheMetalChefOnline

It is NOT a goof on Zappa, it's a tribute, and a rather nice one at that. Zappa's son plays the guitar parts on this track.
