  • Ha ha ha ha. you Americans are hilarious. "Celebrate good times" LOL. Forsake the future and burn coal.

Instead of fearing the foreign countries who sell you oil why don't you just talk to them. They're not monsters, just humans like all of us. Chill out and help save the planet. And for god's sake, don't believe this clean coal crap (CCC).

  • Clean coal can help our county become energy independent from foreign oil

  • The only clean coal is that which is left in the ground. There should not be a single new coal-fired plant built that doesn't capture the maximum amount of CO2 from day one. Conventional coal is a crime against humanity.

  • Except that given the fact that Coal plants now have to comply with the 2005 Clean Air Act, since they've exhausted their grandfathered capacity.

New Coal plants are 3x more expensive than they were before.

And 6x more expensive if you include carbon sequestration.

Effectively making Coal far more expensive than even the most costly renewables.

Coal just can't be clean and cheap at the same time.

  • The technology isn't 20 years away — some of it is here today. There have already been technology demonstrations of greenhouse gas emissions control for existing power plants. American Electric Power has already announced the commercial deployment of these technologies at two of their larger older units -- one of them is the Mountaineer Plant in West Virginia.

  • Wow. Most parasites just find another host rather than trying to revive the dead one to feed off of it a little longer.

  • The problem with coal is that it is plentiful. It's so plentiful we're not going to run out and it'll stay cheap. Thus it will continue to be burned. Coal is carbon so you cannot burn it without making CO2 (and lots of other nasty stuff too)

  • Is anyone buying this tripe?

  • Actually, it's pretty sad that as much as half of the US electricity is coal generated. The black coal may not be as dirty as eastern european brown coal, and technology is making progress, but when you look at the environmental impact from mining and the safety aspects mining, it doesn't seem worth it to me.

Now nuclear is cleaner for the environment, but here too you need to mine the uranium and store the waste safely for a long time etc.

  • wonder why the clean coal and "balanced energy" folks never film their blasting skills, their sludge ponds, volumes of safety violations, and loveley reclamation work.

  • Garbage. Coal is the dirtiest, most polluting energy source out there. Clean coal is a lie. They're blowing the tops off mountains, creating toxic runoff and destroying whole communities in the coal mining regions. Coal is the past -- let's move into the future with sun, water and wind power. The money-grubbing coal barons have had their day.

  • This technology has advanced so much over the past 2 decades, I do not understand why there are so many opponents to this energy source. It is plentiful, it is cost effective and it is domestic! It does not get any better!!!!!

  • probably because most people aren't retarded, they took geography, and read the news.
