I learned this at school and have sang it to all my kids and now my new wee granddaughter. The tears r streaming down ma face as I type this, it's sooo beautiful, thank u soo much for posting, makes u so proud to be Scottish!!xx
I must admit I know very little of this song, the culture from which it came, or the Corries, but what a way to find out about any of them! I heard this on the harp the first time I did hear it, but this version suits me fine just as well. It really does sound like a lullaby, doesn't it? It's so soothing.
@Gyrbun I just found the Corries last month too. Amazing, aren't they? I'm just sad I spent the first fifty years of my life not knowing of them. Interesting they're collecting a whole new group of fans nearly twenty years after they ended.
BRILLIANT! This is the best version that I've heard of the song. The Corries always kept to the original melodies. My dad was listening to these guys when I was a wee boy as well as Robin Hall and Jimmie MacGregor. Thanks for posting :-)
Sang this with our choir - lovely song

Thank you so much for posting this beautiful song. I first heard it when a teenager and sang it to both my sons as a lullaby when they were babies.

Sung this first to my own kids as babies, then to my grandchildren. First heard it from the Corries in Kilmarnock, many many moons ago.
