I was told that before a person was taken up the steps, their backs were broken by using a large rock in the place were they were held before the sacrifice. This would not kill them but make them easier to control. Remember, in some sacrifices, the person was skinned alive. They did not want the person to be moving because the skin had to be in one piece so the could put it on and wear it for days.

@peppsicony thats were your wrong they were advanced in astronomy they had a more accurate calender than todays and they could predict lunar,solar eclipses, could track the planet venus with great accurracy. So how does the myth that the world would end if they dont provide blood to the sun come into all these great accomplishments. If they were superstitious clearly they wouldn't of done none of these accomplishments that i mentioned.

History sacrifices report was wrote down by Cortes a criminal from Spain. Cortes was not the only one who came back to Europe with a report. There was another Spanish men. One of the officers who went to arrest Cortes for stealing ships. Who also wrote down what he saw. What he wrote down says nothing about sacrifices. Cortes summary about the Aztecs are clearly lies because go by facts, if the Aztec might had done sacrifices their wouldn't be trillions, and millions of Natives right now.

@X9Intelectual What are you talking about? Human sacrafice is depicted in their heart and was indeed part of their culture. All historians agreed that it happened and in great numbers, even expert and descendaents of that Aztec people admit it did happen. And there are no real natives in south America today. Just as mix of Spanish/Portugeese with the natives of that land.

The maya live with their own and if you go there you will see more pure bloods than indians of america. Pretty much all of south America was collonised by the Spanish who stayed there and emigratted there for hundreds of years and seeing as out family trees have many branches it's likely that the spanish blood will have made it into every south american in the 20th and 21st century. Not only that but there are a flux of recent immigrants.

3.most people classified as mestizos have very little spanish blood. equivalent to the average african american having about 10% english blood

4.brazil, the largest country in south america, was colonized by portugal not spain

5.spanish blood is very mixed from the arab and moores, but they choose to ignore it

@grobo11 that photo that you see in the beginning of this video was done by a spanish priest, look at that photo compared to real mayan art and there is no similarity. The Maya would never do a crappy image like that, and to compare the photo with other mayan art is insulting. All the mayan books were hijacked and re-written to portray the natives in a negative light. Once again we have euros like you telling natives that you know more about natives than they do.

@X9Intelectual Cortes is not the only source. In fact, I remember the most oft cited source is not Cortes but someone else who was travelling with him. So you may have to discredit that source and many others. Because current scholarship agrees that human sacrifice occurred (including archeological digs), you may have to come to terms with that, even though it means that Cortes bloody conquistadores might have destroyed an even bloodier culture in their quest for gold.
