Oh my God, I went to see the Broadway show a month ago & when Rafiki started singing "Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba" I had tears on my eyes and people laughed staring at me like "what's wrong with you?" & I was like "fuck you all, it's my childhood and one of dreams is just coming true" DAMN IT, I'm 19 years old and I still crying every time I watch the movie, I love The Lion King, I know the lyrics of every song, and I'm a child again with this. BEST DISNEY MOVIE & BEST BROADWAY PRODUCTION EVER!
@rubyrondinel i remember i started crying at 1:07 the musical was just so magical. altho i didnt think the hyena chow down song was rlly necessary lol
I watched this last night in London. It is the best musical I have ever seen and I highly recommend to everyone who loves the Lion King to go and watch it. Don't allow yourself to miss out on an opportunity.
The ensemble sings something in Zulu I think.. And it's when rafiki sings ( it's the circle of life!) it sounds like Bala king onomy Aka le. And I am for sure it's pronounced like that. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please let me know what it means!!!
@BoerVis If I remember correctly, it just means something like ''A new king is born. It's a lion.'' or something. The sentence that they keep singing and repeating when the song itself starts means ''it's a lion''.
@rihanna7mad22 I agree with you 100%, I had to chance to see this live in London and from the first note of the opening chant it was the most captivating and beautiful production I have ever seen. Just watching this now and remembering the feeling of awe and joy of the whole audience is just amazing. This is not just a stage production it's an experience.
That's my first and only broadway show I've seen (yet) I forced my dad to pay 128$ on the ticket and it was SO WORTH EVERY PENNY. chillschillschills. The lion king is my favorite Disney movie and I just had to see it. I didn't expect to like Rafiki so much....but she was AMAZING! i love her voice so intense!
I've been to quite a few concerts/live shows... this one is far far far from being even categorized... Chills, laugher, cries... Bravo to the whole crew. Amazing perfermance <3 xx
i'm only 17 and i've seen this on broadway in Toronto, New York, and Chicago (x2). it never loses its magic! i get tears in my eyes and chills down my spine everytime i hear these beautiful songs!
I don't think its my favorite anymore, but when I was little for a long time, it was my favorite. :3 And I still love it no matter what. I can't wait to see this one one day! :D
What do you mean wtf? Its Simba as a baby. It was the puppet they used during this song on stage. At first, I thought Japan started that trend, but now, I don't think so. But I love the way Japan made their baby Simba, still. :3 Hes WAY cute!
Last year, I went to New York and saw this on Broadway. This has to be one of my favorite Broadway musicals EVAR. It brought me to tears. The only other musicals that have done that are Wicked (During "For Good") and Les Miserables (During "Castle on a Cloud" and "I Dreamed a Dream"). This is a truly amazing show worth seeing, without a doubt.
this musical is one of the most beautiful things ive ever seen, ive seen it in holland a few years ago in dutch and i was just blown away. it was truly, AMAZING. i think the best part was all of it. the costumes were awesome, inventive and awesome
the songs were awesome, well translated and awesome
the total was totally awesome!
i totally want to see it again, but im afraid it probably wont come back to holland anytime soon... too bad
Everytime I hear the Broadway version the talented vocals, and see clips of the phenomenal stage work, costumes and performers I am tempted to grab my credit card and just jump on a plane from Australia and zip over to the US or London to see the Broadway show... The chills I get every single time i hear the broadway versions fo the songs is unbelievable! Jason Raize looked like one of the most amazing performers I have seen clips of... R.I.P. xx
i saw this with my parents in toronto when i was little, and it was the most moving experience of my life so far. rafiki was my favorite, she was so funny and amazing and ooh my goodness iw ant to see this live again!!
@JesusCallingDevo1 oh! then it is the same lone as the original version from the movie! why does the person from the movie pronounce ingonyama differently though...? :-/ hmmm
i love this version! but the thing is... i loved the original movie opening version where the first words spoken sound a little different... it sounds like "maaa zi penyaaaa" (forgive the mispelling). to me this sounds more powerful and striking because of the way the pronunciation sounds. if anyone knows, please let me know what the difference actually is!
@sushisroxmysox My mother and I have tickets to see The Lion King in February on opening weekend in Providence Rhode Island for our second time I am so excited to see Mufasa,Zazu,Smiba,Timon,Rafiki,Pumbaa,Scar,Nala, and the rest of the characters for my second time I love the movie many times and for my second time, the show will be even more magical than the first time!
