I came back to thank you for this video. I had never removed solder on any electronics before (let alone do soldering), but my power jack on my laptop broke loose a few weeks ago. They were charging me 150bucks to get it repaired! After watching your video I bought my complete soldering kit at radio shack for 35bucks and the power jack for 10.00 and decided to go at it... it took me some time to get it all appart but guess where I am typing from? YUP! MY LAPTOP!!! THANX!!!!!

Solder is spelled s-o-l-d-e-r but it's pronounced sod-der, I got confused with that when I started soldering!

I bought the one-hand solder removal tool with the rubber ball attached. It's a lot faster, so it doesn't heat the board as much, lift traces or fry components. There is also the other hand free.

Didn't really show me much at all sorry.

I use a 60W soldering iron to remove solder - much easier, just touch the solder and it liquifies, no need to hold the soldering iron on there for very long.

It's a good tutorial on soldering but the video is a little dark, kind of hard to see certain detailed stuffs, anyways good teaching
