Unconventional story lines? Quentin is great for making good use of extremely conventional story lines. The Gold Watch, The Bosses Wife, The Heist Gone Wrong, The Revenge of a female warrior, The Mysterious Briefcase ? Hello?
Those are genre conventions, yes. But where QT is unconventional is that he turns those familiar tropes on their ear by introducing some real-world screw-up or accident into the scenario. The Gold Watch: Oops! Left it back at the apartment. The Bosses Wife: Oops! She OD'd on the stash of smack I had hidden in my coat pocket. Etc. KILL BILL is different because it's an homage to many genres, but it's unconventional because of the mixture of all these unique styles and iconography into one story.
not trying to be bitchy or anything, but just being the stickler for Tarantino that I am, the nerd in me requires me to tell you that Tarantino didnt write the golden watch story, that was written by roger avery. which is why PF is written by QT and roger avery
@buttmunch472 Not entirely correct, Avery wrote the base outline for The Watch in the form of a script he was writing called "Pandemonium Reigns". QT just used the outline of that story and put it in his film. Avery didn't write that sequence.
@gopoop777 He didn't write the piece of shit they filmed. He wrote a masterpiece of epic genius. They rewrote his script entirely and ruined everything in it.
@McNugget06 If you're talking about Natural Born Killers, the you are fucking correct. I hated the shit out of that movie. Oliver Stone needs to fucking die already.
@gopoop777 I know you posted that comment a long time ago, but he didn't even write it, he wrote a script, which Oliver Stone and some other guy almost completely rewrote. What came out of it was very good but probably not tarantinos vision
These people are not Tarantino fans nor cinephiles, for that matter...all they care about is THE HYPE. They are after PEOPLE IN THE SPOTLIGHT (knowing what took them there, for ´journalists´ like them, is OPTIONAL).
mention Natural Born Killers was not the smartest moment in this clip, though... only to be topped by "Project Grindhouse", a term that I've heard for the first time ever (Death Proof was the second "half" though, not the first). Very creative. And why not mention Rodriguez with From Dusk Till Dawn, which not Quentin, but Robert directed? Do your homework
lol micheal madson doesnt seem to have much to say unless he's reading a script lol

Hah yeah I see what you mean. Very few directors nowadays mix genres like he does. In fact, none of them do. That's very sad.

agree 100% thats why he is so good taking something very simple and making and awesome script out of it.

Tarantino needs to comeback with atleast one more Pulp Fiction type movie with someone like Nicholas Cage or Sean Penn.

Why Nicholas Cage?
Worst actor ever.
Blackwater1 3 years ago 4
Nicolas cage just keeps picking bad movies but he's good. there way more over exposed actors than Cage.
