I just love this song. Music that touches the heart. Heartfelt lyrics. True words. Now music just doesnt do the work for those in love. This is deep. OMG! Miss it
The best songs will live forever. I still listen to Johnny Mathis from the fifties and the Seekers from the sixties, and I think this was the best time for music. Then I hear another oldie and think it's the best. The crap songs are forgotten. Listen to some of the swing from the 40's and it's awesome, too. Go all the way back to the early years of our country and the Civil War. Some of those songs are still around today.
Nothing like driving my Black GTO V-8 stick - heavy duty clutch!!! - had to sell the car cause I didn't have the strength to engage the clutch!!! I loved that car - those were the days......I miss that car...and thanks for posting this song
@southbound310 Neither did I. Music remind me of Downtown LA for when going shopping with mom. All the dept stores use to play a lot of ambrosia music. After shopping, have luch at Chickenboy Restaurant.
@crenshawboy Had no idea where the group was from, but they definitely made an impact...even all the way across the states to New Hampshire! I listened to these guys and thought this stuff was great...way back in 1978. I've since been all over the world but still live in New Hampshire...and I still think it's great!!!
hi joseph depaola from nj thanks for your understanding. and your love of selfish blondes. but you are just following society.............and so was the blond who wanted to work and cheat on you. blame hebs and their rising of prices and changed family values.
Hey dumani26 - thank you, but might nice to have a great man by my side....one day perhaps then...one can dream. My pic is recent. I am almost 49 soon - no kiddin! Boring, workaholic, dramaless queens, who are kind, considerate, that like to go way overboard in the giving department, simply are NOT all the rage it seems, sadly. Gosh how much longer do I have to live like this?!... - geezo. I give... - best wishes to you, take care, and again I appreciate your time and kindness.
i remember being a child and my dad would always play soft rock like this on the car radio during his fishing/hunting trips. he found it so relaxing. so i grew to love it ... but my siblings and friends used to tease me about loving "white boy music"..they don't know what beautiful music was.
@ TheTaxman67 i dont think so its just great music i was born in the 80's and i still go back to it everytime they dont make music like this anymore :(
WOW dorrisdenise - everyone in cyber land should be sooooo lucky! Mine left and have been sick ever since - sucks really bad! Here I sit clueless and brokenhearted. SAD!
@grabbber i just bought a 71 maverick and this is on my playlist. noone is allowed in the car unless they can sing along to at least 1 song from this era. i may let you drive if you can sing THIS song all the way through--to my car. i tell everyone show your elders some respect. the car is older than me.
I love how all the sheep gloss over the fact that he is basically saying "hey I'm married now, and have a wife. But I still think of this young chick when I'm fucking my poor unsuspecting wife. wow. great song.
I agree with the TheTaxman67, I was born in 67 so I was only about 12 at the END of the seventies. I had an older brother who, I guess, when he listened to the radio it got ingrained in me and effected my soul on some deep level. Even though I was so young I have such powerfully strong, positive emotions that well up inside of me when I hear these songs and similar ones from the seventies. I do not ever get such emotions from todays music.
had no idea when this song was released because I've always known it, gosh 1978...I was 2 yrs old, music stored in my memory from babyhood, good stuff right here
For all those who believe this song sends a message of deceit or dishonesty in a relationship, just sit back and understand it is about love lost. Only one person walked on this earth that was perfect and we are not Him. However, we are loved, understood, and forgiven… not judged for our human feelings. This is an amazing and powerful song that reaches deep into one’s heart.
Omg! I am so heartbroken right now! The love of my life had her lover call to tell me it's over. I couldn't believe it so I asked to speak to them and they confirmed that they had fallen in love with someone else. I feel like I am dying inside right now! How can someone be so heartless? I don't understand! I gave my all and still got hurt! Why does love mean nothing to anyone anymore? What happened to true love????
The eleven idiots who disliked this songs probably like the gaga freak. Pretty sad and not just because you don't this great song but in agreement with "thegreatbunghio21" it is completely sad what passes as music and artists too for that fact. Gaga my ass!
This song is dedicated to someone very special! For so many reasons!!! Too much to even try to explain! This person came into my life when I couldn't have possibly needed anyone anymore!!! She was a lifesaver! I was in a very abusive and hopeless relationship and she gave me hope again and showed me that I could still love and be loved! I will love her til the day I die if I live to be 100! I love her with all my heart and soul and always will! There will never be another her! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!
this song still brings back painful memories of my high school sweetheart moving back to Oklahoma in our senior year...when she left, she promised she would be back and she would never stop loving me but the years slowly passed and I spent most nights in my room alone, listening to songs like this and feeling the sweet pain of heartache....I found out that she was pregnant shortly afterwards and never heard from her or saw her again..Joyce Lee Huddleston from Konowa, Oklahoma, that was you..
@AdamCoffin13 JESUS OK GENERAL SNOOPY DANCE....years slowly passing spending most nights in your room alone? I think we know why she didnt come back...your adult onset vagina was probably a turn off.
i dont know if its because i was young an impressionable, but, seventies music just seems so much better than anything else ever recorded. such a wide spectrum of music also.
@TheTaxman67 - i have that same belief.. 70's music has lyrics that are much deeper than the 80's, 90's, 00's and now.. and the music itself is better because you HAD to play really well to get the attention of music producers..
@TheTaxman67 well said...it was good music and so much variety, we had the end of the Motown Sound, the English music, rock n roll, disco and ballads galore. I always loved this song for different reasons. What impressed me was my good friend who is a "mans man" told me "That How Much I Feel Song on the radio is a great song" and this guy never shared his feelings. Its unfortunate we will never experience this era and sound again, and will have to live with the crap they play now.
not may people listen to the lyrics... this a song of a dude that still longs for his old girl friend.. in the last stanza tells his old girl that when he is with his wife, he still sees HER face.. its a love song, but its also a song of deceit.
@josez1 Really, the majority of people don't truly hear the lyrics of songs. It's a shame! So much art in the words alone. Really missin' out if you ain't takin' the time to listen.....
Love the honesty in this song...especially when he talks about his wife....WOOOO THAT'S DEEP!!!! This has got to be the greatest record about "The One Who Got Away" ever laid down on track.
Very true. It was a different time and when you REALLY listen to this you can hear those cheer amazing backing vocals. WOW Every little piece is done to perfection. Done/Mastered/As excellence. A brilliant deep song with such a great story too.
Well, I have liked this since it dropped....when in the late 70s ? I know it reminds me of someone back then. Beautiful, timeless and so romantic and honest. I wouldn't mind being loved that much, honestly. : )
No, it is not gone and will never be gone so long there are people like me and you and millions of others that know the difference like us that will continue to play it, write it,, respect it,,play it in front of people, care for it like you'd care for your child, record it,share it, enjoy it, are it and promote it.
Awesome song! Makes me cry when I realize how stupid I was to break with the lover I reconnected with after 35 years! To Steph- if you ever see this post, you KNOW how I still feel and will alway feel. "I still can see your face..." :-(
@MrMaier3000 Thank you! It is so real. I was very young when it came out and now I'm not and can still relate fully to this song and perhaps that one person that I never forgot. It's pretty profound.
Ambrosia's three ballard hits put the band in the all time top ten, bands. Biggest Part of Me, Keep Holding On and Thats How Much I Feel, the kind of timeless songs that will continue to be popular, world wide.
@74tmcentralc profound as hell!! I think both men and women have had this happen to them a time or two! We just dont admit it!! Awesome tune, love Firefall
These guys opened for Santana in Vegas when this song was big. I thought what a strange band to open for Santana. Got thrown out and arrested before Snatana hit the stage. What fun those days were.
This is one of my favorite songs even though its about longing for another woman. It still makes me want to crawl in bed with my husband when I hear it. Music from the 70's was the best of all time.
so, where do you go to find people that appreciate good music? I go you classic's in YT where people still aprreciate good old fashioned love songs and talent
ya, smooth, romantic, strong voices and great arangements. Music was music. I do enjoy this little walk through the past. I remember hitchinking through a blizzard in Upper Michigan singing this song, hitting all the high notes above the sound of the wind. .
One of my 70's favorites. This is a classic! I grew up in the 70's and I remember hearing songs like this on the radio. My parents bought me a portable white and orange record player that had a small radio. I was about 10 and I loved listening to music.

"I still can see your face..." :-(

you don't have to be young or old to love this song, that's how much good of a song it is.
MrMaier3000 4 months ago
@MrMaier3000 Thank you! It is so real. I was very young when it came out and now I'm not and can still relate fully to this song and perhaps that one person that I never forgot. It's pretty profound.

Ambrosia's three ballard hits put the band in the all time top ten, bands. Biggest Part of Me, Keep Holding On and Thats How Much I Feel, the kind of timeless songs that will continue to be popular, world wide.

Music from the 70's was the best of all time.

ya, smooth, romantic, strong voices and great arangements. Music was music. I do enjoy this little walk through the past. I remember hitchinking through a blizzard in Upper Michigan singing this song, hitting all the high notes above the sound of the wind. .

@monkbilliardacademy That is the cool thing about songs like this. They always seem to envoke the most unique memories don't they?
thegreatbungholio21 4 months ago
The song is about a guy who fantasizes about another woman whilst fucking his wife. Sorry, "making love" to his wife.
He is clearly a victim here.

One of my 70's favorites. This is a classic! I grew up in the 70's and I remember hearing songs like this on the radio. My parents bought me a portable white and orange record player that had a small radio. I was about 10 and I loved listening to music.
