  • Yes!!! This was when television took the time to actually show the end credits, and not squeeze them over to the side of the screen and scroll through them quickly so that they can show other tv show promos and such. I hate that nowadays! Love this compilation!

  • so glad im an 80's baby. honestly the best time for tv period. its sad how things went for tv.damn you danny tanner!!

  • From all of this sitcoms the only one I can choose is Married...With Children

  • Sit UBU sit....good dog! Woof!!

  • 5:38 the cast of threes company acting is so natural its crazy i have not seen any thing near this ever

  • This comment was written in front of a live studio audience.

  • Sit, Ubu, sit! ...Good dog!

  • Gimme A Break- #1 Greatest Theme Song Ever!!

  • great job....brings back wonderful memories

  • What a kickass video. Thanks so much for doing this :)

  • Why did you give us a warning about the saxophones in the description?

  • The one at 1:49 seems like and old "Step-by-Step" ripoff show.

  • @PrinceMontrey That's The Hogan Family. It came way before Step by Step. (Though amazingly enough, the chorus of the theme song actually includes the words "Step by step, day by day.") Those Miller-Boyett shows were mostly cookie-cutter anyway, and all the theme songs sounded about the same too.

  • @MidnightSwinger thanks for The Knowledge.

  • This is when TV was AWESOME! Now, at the end credits, they show miniature credits on the corner so they can show commercials or start the show that follows.

  • OMG these shows aired before i was hopelessly addicted to crack....well, later folks im about to cluck this lap-top for a 10 dollar rock. Was Family Ties on this? I remember whatching the episode where Tom Hanks was an alcoholic and punched out Alex Keaten...from that day i proffesed i would never turn out to be an alcoholic.....I still stand by that decision.

  • oldies tv ruled, nuff said!

  • Married... With Children Is The Best T.V Show Ever! I Watch It Every Morning Before I Go To School

  • Nice work. Click on my channel to see my 80's nostalgic collections; "80's TV Show Openings", "80's Saturday Morning Cartoons", "80's WWF Wrestling" and a "John Hughes Tribute".

  • Thanks for this comp. I miss back in these days when there was something worth watching on tv.

  • 5:38 = best show ever next to friends :P

  • I like this, actually. It reminds me of better times, growing up in the 80's.

  • 5:36

  • Love that Hogan Family saxophone solo! So cool and so '80s!!

  • @steveb802011 That Hogan Family sax sounds SO much like David Sanborn. I wouldn't be surprised if that's him.

  • Where the hell is Punky Brewster!?

  • Danny Elfman wrote the Sledge Hammer theme? No wonder it's so much better than the rest of these.

  • I like thinking that the laughing guy at Night Court is someone that Dan Fielding didn't do a good job representing and he's sitting in his sell laughing while he thinks of his revenge.

  • Thanks for the upload, great video. I just cant believe you just forgot Happy days and The Brady Bunch, one of the best sitcoms on television.

  • @dan4lyf Brady Bunch was 70s. Happy Days spilled into the 80s, so maybe if I do a part II :)

  • @RetroBoyWontDie Part II Seventies endings. What happened to television???

  • @dan4lyf not 80s

  • @lisamaria1972 Brady Bunch wasn't, my bad for that, but Happy days was, started in 1974 and finished in 1984, it squeezed into the 80's

  • @dan4lyf video says "80"sitcoms, about happy days, thumbs up on Chachi fucking Pamela Anderson and Nicole Eggert as soon as she turned 18 while Charles in charge was still in production...Remember sids pizza place........Ahh memories..

  • @dan4lyf The Wonder Years was ten times better a show than the Brady Bunch..

  • the Cosby sucks

  • loooooool

  • the family ties one is sexy

  • Anyone know who is laughing at the end of Night Court?

  • @MikeStivic from what a NC family member told me, it was Reinhold Weege's (the show's creator) uncle. He's also the bellowing guy in the audience during most of the early episodes. which is why you never hear that guy after Weege left the show in '89.

  • The closing theme to Cheers always seemed sad to me.

  • Andrew Gold (composer of Golden Girls theme tune) RIP.

  • I play this when I want people to get out of my house. It seems to work

  • I love the "sit Ubu, sit; good dog." I remember arguing with the kids at school on whether he was saying Ubu, or Boo Boo! Clearly it says Ubu... But everyone insisted it was Boo Boo :-)

  • Thank you for posting these.

Also, thank you for keeping the original aspect ratio and NOT stretching or cropping them.

  • be a lot better without the spitting sound glitch every few seconds.. otherwise, great!

  • Sit boo boo sit good dog WOOF! Damn that brings back a lot of memories

  • So unfortunate about the digital clicks throughout (I know they're hard to prevent, or deal with after a compressed transfer). But thanks so much for the time travel, RetroBoy! Great comp!

  • @rollomaughfling yeah, that's a cheap editing software (Nero) for you. i was surprised no one had mentioned it to this point, but I guess it is evident to some. the sync is also off by a second, but that's due to YT's post-upload proccessing.

  • @RetroBoyWontDie Still a great ride, brah.

  • I liked just about all of those shows except sledgehammer. I thought that show was really stupid

  • ya these songs remind me of the days when all i had to worry about was get ting good grades...and wondering what i was gettin for christmas..... i had the best childhood ever

  • 5:38 my favorite

  • the greatest years of televison ever!!

  • Thanks for the memories! :-)

  • I know its like you got to wait to see them come on Nick@Nite or your favorite Soap go to SoapNet. I do know in some counties like in Canada they show us shows not on the regular networks but, another station also but with the regular credits.

  • These have got to be some of the worst T.V. themes of all fuckin time.....! Do t.v. sitcom writers meet at a bar after hours and exchange scripts..?

  • @commentnotapproved1 No, in my experience sitcom writers tend to do that before lunch. But I think you must mean TV composers, rather than the writers, and end credit music, rather than themes. Composers are usually found (drinking or not) either at home, or where they record. Oh, and also, fuck you :)

  • @rollomaughfling Oh, and also, fuck me......I'll check with my partner!

  • wow, the only I didnt know was sledgehammer

  • I am 44 years old.I wish I had a time machine.I would love to go back in time .Those shows back then were the best on the earth.God I miss the 1980's so much.I especially loved the show "Sledge Hammer" .It came on back in 1986.

  • @Mikelan082 Let me read your mind...when you hear some of these themes you can close your eyes and almost swear when you open them you'll see people in acid washed jeans and swatch watches. Because 2011 is the dream(nightmare) and 198x is the REALITY. Wish it was true...

  • what show was that??

  • I use to feel sad when my favorite show went off. lol

  • @thebigrene1972 I know more about 80s shows than you will EVER know! Thats my point. You werent even around in the 80s. Stop lying. I am the king of the 80s.

  • @thebigrene1972

Hey bigrene, just so your hatred is properly directed, these shows were from the 80s

  • I miss the 1980s

  • @jeepthing98: I'm afraid you're right but how sad is it that we're looking back at the 80's as a simpler time? I remember parents groups back then freaking out at how far off course we were; now it looks like the 50's contrasted with today's culture.

  • woooooh.... nostalgia OVERLOAD.... awesome.

  • good shows, but what is with those bowl haircuts ? lol

  • @thebigrene1972 Are you that much of a loser that you have to call someone an idiot over something as miniscule as this? Lol... get out your basement and enjoy the son a little.

  • @nomar06mvp

    Enjoy who's son?

  • @nomar06mvp

    "Enjoy the SON" lol

  • Though Josh Taylor has a great role on Days of our Lives, he had a great role on the Hogan Family too. I think he might have been suited for sitcoms.

  • @thebigrene1972 Friends, 3rd Rock from the Sun, That 70's Show, Seinfeld, Will & grace, & Mad About You were not good? Yeah right!

  • Brings back so many memories

  • I don't even watch TV anymore, its all junk (except Family Guy). These 80s shows were much more watchable and had purpose. But it was a simpler time also.

  • THE GOLDEN GIRLS!!!!

  • unbelievable memories, wild how some of these people still look the same

  • NICE VIDEO!!!...Great Choices.....

  • Quantum Leap accelerator online............

  • i liked ur vid but must say tht u should have played each one form the beginning w/ the name included for those who have forgotton the names. However, thxs.

  • Silver Spoons sucked and it always will. That's just how it is!

  • @TheLAKERSareGodsTeam

Yeah, I first saw Silver Spoons back in the early 2000s when either Nick @ Nite or TV Land had a marathon called "Revenge of the '80s", and that show was on it. I had seen two episodes and felt that was enough. That show is not one of my favorites, and I don't intend to see another episode of it ever again. In general, I do agree with you.

    -Matt

  • So many of these songs still kick off the 'time for bed' reflex in my brain.

  • @MegaVolcano So true LOL! When ever I see the intro to Simon and Simon my brain thinks back to my childhood and how I should be going to bed! LOL

  • That was fun to watch/listen to. Lots and lots of nostalgia. Thanks!

  • @RetroBoyWontDie I love you

  • Gotta love Ubu... I miss Ubu

  • @thebigrene1972 I was born in the 1980s, 1982 to be exact and I think the 80s and the 90s are the best. I am a kid of the 80s and a teen of the 90s. I loved both.

  • Thanks for all the uploads, we come from a classic era! that others wont feel what we feel by listening to these credit theme songs and theme songs. Thanks for helping in keeping our era alive!

  • "WARNING: Severe saxaphone overload" indeed. Synth overload as well. :D

  • 0:30 What's that show? IT SOUNDS HORRIBLE

  • still love the golden girls and different strokes theme songs! two the best ever!

  • @balston113

I agree with you about Golden Girls. I have all seven seasons of that program on DVD. Diff'rent Strokes? Not for me. I saw one episode of that show on YouTube, and I wasn't too impressed with it. Its spin-off program, The Facts of Life, wasn't to my liking either. Those girls were so crazy.

    -Matt

  • Such a great idea! Thanks!

  • I totally feel like a little kid on a Saturday afternoon flipping channels trying to find something on to watch, but I keep coming in on the end of shows that I just missed... Strangely enough I find watching credits of 20+ and even 30+ year old shows far more entertaining than full episodes of any "reality TV" they have on now.

  • 4 people were born after Dec. 31, 1989...

  • @billdanbury I WAS BORN IN 1992 And i like three's company,The cosby show, roseanne, ALF, The brady bunch, family ties, cheers,

  • @wrestlemania157 Yeah but I think what billdandbury means is that we grew up watching this stuff while it was originally airing. For me the exceptions are "The Brady Bunch" and "Three's Company" (I wasn't quite 2 when this one was cancelled). But for me Alf, Family Ties and The Cosby Show in particular are staples of my childhood. Cheers as well to a certain degree.

  • I have no, idea what some of these shows are

  • Now that was a trip down memory lane. Good work.

  • Three's company breaks my heart...

  • Very strange. The 80's were kind of a dark time in my life and the music can really triggers some old feelings.Pretty wierd. It's ok though, things are much better now adays.

  • I love WHO'S THE BOSS!!!

  • Liked the credits...Could guess what year it was and then it would show it. I miss those days, you know, when tv wasn't all "reality" shows.----and the shows were good!

  • Sledge Hammer rules

  • I didn't know "Who's The Boss" was on the air in 1984. I thought it didn't start until the late 80's.

  • Love the golden girls, facts of life, and three's company:D

  • Well all those belong to the 70's and 80's and sadly those days are gone...now its only bad reality shows and children telling their parents to go to hell!!

  • I MISS THE 80'S!!!! But seeing that The Cosby Show, Cheers, Golden Girls and Married With Children are all syndicated and still playing now the other credits really took me back! Especially Give Me a Break and Night Court. I used to LOVE the laugh at the end of NIght Court. Thank you RetroBoy! Please post more if you got some. Especially for the drama shows too.

  • Three's Company and The Golden Girls was the best! My all time favorite :)

  • Differerent Strokes episode is 70's

  • the silver spoons and sledge hammer themes reminds me of MegaMan for some reason.

  • TV Land went from from one show directly to another and I have no idea when one ended and another starting (especially if the two shows are the same and that show has an act before the opening credit and music. Lets the credits scroll and the music play - most of them runs from about 20 - 45 seconds.

  • Love Love Love it.

  • Watching these reminds me that i have homework to do -- 20 years ago.

  • iLike That You Have The Cosby Show Credits First !

  • I miss most of these shows but what's crazy is that from almost every show someone has passed...amazing how time goes!

  • This may make me sound kinda nerdy...but it's amazing how many of those credits use the same font for closing credits (Silver Spoons, Who's The Boss, Charles In Charge, etc...)

  • The New World Logo looks like the AT&T Logo!

  • Some cable channels scroll the shows closing credits. If memory serves me correct -TV LAND is not one of them. I may want to know the name of the person who guest stars, enjoy listening to the shows theme music, and what year that epidode originally aired.

  • @kidfrombrooklyn66 I agree. I don't know why they think we don't want to hear the theme music. That was one of the best parts of the show.

  • Congratulations! You're the first compilation video to make it to my Favorites. Yup, its was that good...

  • THIS IS SO KEWL THAT U POSTED THIS! i HATE it wheb commercials cut ending credits! :D

  • different strokes had a slightly different closing credits theme in the earliest episode. anybody remember?

  • @rjb1216 cool you enjoyed, but must say....'married' premiered in 1987 (but probly thought of more as a 90s show) and I was going for sitcoms in this vid, so no Knight Rider.

  • @RetroBoyWontDie won't point out sledge hammer is not a sitcom, but I realize you couldn't list all the programs from the 80's. I really liked this video, makes miss the good old days.

  • @rjb1216 hehe, well....sort of an audience-less sitcom, but in the half hour comedy vein for the most part. TGIF :).

  • @rjb1216 If you look at the ending credits, towards the end, it says , Copyright 1987.

  • @rjb1216 married with children cam out in the late 80's.

  • @rjb1216 But you pointed out that Married was a 90's show..... ;P

  • My Two Dads

  • Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hmm there next mafia 3 should be set in the 80s or late 80s would be so cool and radical. @RetroBoyWontDie

  • anyone else notice that ellen travolta was a guest star in like 3 or 4 of the shows?

  • well, bring back my 80s too ;)

i love Sledge Hammer! like many 80s shows, it ran in Germany during the 90s

  • Oh please, oh PLEASE do a Part II!! This was perfectly lovely. I, like @coolnerd83, also felt a certain calm!

  • The cosby show sucked balls

  • I never heard the ending to "Hogan Family". That show went off when I was 2! They showed reruns on ABC Family about 4 years ago, but no closing. I fucking hate credit squeezes. I haven't heard a lot of these closing in years! You should also add "Family Matters".

  • I had this calm feeling over me as I listed to the theme songs. What does this mean?

  • I felt this calm feeling come over me as I listened to the theme songs. What does that mean?

  • man this about made me cry! lol

  • I forgot about that guy who laughed at the end of "Night Court"... CLASSIC!!! Thanks for all these classic themes- my childhood and preteen years just flashed right before my eyes!

  • one thing i noticed is most of these shows promoted what today seems like almost impossible standard of family life, today families are much different and distant,,,seeing this is very refreshing the 80's were a great time

  • Dang I was hoping that the growing pains ending would have the guy falling off the roof hahaha

  • whats the show for 1:23

  • How about an '80s action series end credits montage? Shows like Hunter, The A-Team, Greatest American Hero, and 21 Jump Street.

  • my favorites are growing pains and diffrent strokes! i hope you do part 2!

  • 7:19 Best of them all. Perfect Strangers was, and still is, a great show. Too bad it was kind of overshadowed by Family Matters, not that Family Matters wasn't epic in its own right.

  • @jw870206 9:40 a very close second. Love the closing credits to Cheers.

  • Will you be doing a part 2 for other shows that you couldn't fit in here?

  • Oh look, my favourite part of the Cosby show, the end credits!

  • 1:49 This is the ending credits of the CIC season 2 episode "Mama Mia".

  • I remember at the end of those 80's sitcoms, everything would pause and the studio audience would applaud and a few credits would appear...lol

  • Comment removed

  • Three's Company, best show on here

  • OMG I was so in love with GImmie a Break RIP Nell Carter :)

  • All of these are great, but i really like the music with the growing pains end credits for some reason.

  • 9.36 i know this is weird, but why did that scare me as a little kid back in the day?... oh i remember.... it was pitch dark when i saw it.... haha

  • @bearclawkev Ha-that's funny. I got scared by that too... I made my parents turn down the sound when it came on.

  • i <3 The Golden Girls (the show, the theme song, and the end credit)

  • I miss Cheers!

  • Great job! I grew up watching all of these shows (except Sledge Hammer).

    Sit UBU sit. Good dog.

  • The Hogan Family theme is just an awesome thing to experience.

  • Thanks for posting. Been searching for the Wonder Years closing for a while now! Thanks again!

  • Don't forget Don Knotts.
