Yes!!! This was when television took the time to actually show the end credits, and not squeeze them over to the side of the screen and scroll through them quickly so that they can show other tv show promos and such. I hate that nowadays! Love this compilation!
@PrinceMontrey That's The Hogan Family. It came way before Step by Step. (Though amazingly enough, the chorus of the theme song actually includes the words "Step by step, day by day.") Those Miller-Boyett shows were mostly cookie-cutter anyway, and all the theme songs sounded about the same too.
This is when TV was AWESOME! Now, at the end credits, they show miniature credits on the corner so they can show commercials or start the show that follows.
OMG these shows aired before i was hopelessly addicted to crack....well, later folks im about to cluck this lap-top for a 10 dollar rock. Was Family Ties on this? I remember whatching the episode where Tom Hanks was an alcoholic and punched out Alex Keaten...from that day i proffesed i would never turn out to be an alcoholic.....I still stand by that decision.
Nice work. Click on my channel to see my 80's nostalgic collections; "80's TV Show Openings", "80's Saturday Morning Cartoons", "80's WWF Wrestling" and a "John Hughes Tribute".
I like thinking that the laughing guy at Night Court is someone that Dan Fielding didn't do a good job representing and he's sitting in his sell laughing while he thinks of his revenge.
@dan4lyf video says "80"sitcoms, about happy days, thumbs up on Chachi fucking Pamela Anderson and Nicole Eggert as soon as she turned 18 while Charles in charge was still in production...Remember sids pizza place........Ahh memories..
@MikeStivic from what a NC family member told me, it was Reinhold Weege's (the show's creator) uncle. He's also the bellowing guy in the audience during most of the early episodes. which is why you never hear that guy after Weege left the show in '89.
I love the "sit Ubu, sit; good dog." I remember arguing with the kids at school on whether he was saying Ubu, or Boo Boo! Clearly it says Ubu... But everyone insisted it was Boo Boo :-)
So unfortunate about the digital clicks throughout (I know they're hard to prevent, or deal with after a compressed transfer). But thanks so much for the time travel, RetroBoy! Great comp!
@rollomaughfling yeah, that's a cheap editing software (Nero) for you. i was surprised no one had mentioned it to this point, but I guess it is evident to some. the sync is also off by a second, but that's due to YT's post-upload proccessing.

I know its like you got to wait to see them come on Nick@Nite or your favorite Soap go to SoapNet. I do know in some counties like in Canada they show us shows not on the regular networks but, another station also but with the regular credits.
@commentnotapproved1 No, in my experience sitcom writers tend to do that before lunch. But I think you must mean TV composers, rather than the writers, and end credit music, rather than themes. Composers are usually found (drinking or not) either at home, or where they record. Oh, and also, fuck you :)
I am 44 years old.I wish I had a time machine.I would love to go back in time .Those shows back then were the best on the earth.God I miss the 1980's so much.I especially loved the show "Sledge Hammer" .It came on back in 1986.
@Mikelan082 Let me read your mind...when you hear some of these themes you can close your eyes and almost swear when you open them you'll see people in acid washed jeans and swatch watches. Because 2011 is the dream(nightmare) and 198x is the REALITY. Wish it was true...
@thebigrene1972 I know more about 80s shows than you will EVER know! Thats my point. You werent even around in the 80s. Stop lying. I am the king of the 80s.
@jeepthing98: I'm afraid you're right but how sad is it that we're looking back at the 80's as a simpler time? I remember parents groups back then freaking out at how far off course we were; now it looks like the 50's contrasted with today's culture.
@thebigrene1972 Are you that much of a loser that you have to call someone an idiot over something as miniscule as this? Lol... get out your basement and enjoy the son a little.

i liked ur vid but must say tht u should have played each one form the beginning w/ the name included for those who have forgotton the names. However, thxs.
Yeah, I first saw Silver Spoons back in the early 2000s when either Nick @ Nite or TV Land had a marathon called "Revenge of the '80s", and that show was on it. I had seen two episodes and felt that was enough. That show is not one of my favorites, and I don't intend to see another episode of it ever again. In general, I do agree with you.
@thebigrene1972 I was born in the 1980s, 1982 to be exact and I think the 80s and the 90s are the best. I am a kid of the 80s and a teen of the 90s. I loved both.
Thanks for all the uploads, we come from a classic era! that others wont feel what we feel by listening to these credit theme songs and theme songs. Thanks for helping in keeping our era alive!
I agree with you about Golden Girls. I have all seven seasons of that program on DVD. Diff'rent Strokes? Not for me. I saw one episode of that show on YouTube, and I wasn't too impressed with it. Its spin-off program, The Facts of Life, wasn't to my liking either. Those girls were so crazy.
I totally feel like a little kid on a Saturday afternoon flipping channels trying to find something on to watch, but I keep coming in on the end of shows that I just missed... Strangely enough I find watching credits of 20+ and even 30+ year old shows far more entertaining than full episodes of any "reality TV" they have on now.
@wrestlemania157 Yeah but I think what billdandbury means is that we grew up watching this stuff while it was originally airing. For me the exceptions are "The Brady Bunch" and "Three's Company" (I wasn't quite 2 when this one was cancelled). But for me Alf, Family Ties and The Cosby Show in particular are staples of my childhood. Cheers as well to a certain degree.
Very strange. The 80's were kind of a dark time in my life and the music can really triggers some old feelings.Pretty wierd. It's ok though, things are much better now adays.
Liked the credits...Could guess what year it was and then it would show it. I miss those days, you know, when tv wasn't all "reality" shows.----and the shows were good!
Well all those belong to the 70's and 80's and sadly those days are gone...now its only bad reality shows and children telling their parents to go to hell!!
I MISS THE 80'S!!!! But seeing that The Cosby Show, Cheers, Golden Girls and Married With Children are all syndicated and still playing now the other credits really took me back! Especially Give Me a Break and Night Court. I used to LOVE the laugh at the end of NIght Court. Thank you RetroBoy! Please post more if you got some. Especially for the drama shows too.
TV Land went from from one show directly to another and I have no idea when one ended and another starting (especially if the two shows are the same and that show has an act before the opening credit and music. Lets the credits scroll and the music play - most of them runs from about 20 - 45 seconds.
This may make me sound kinda nerdy...but it's amazing how many of those credits use the same font for closing credits (Silver Spoons, Who's The Boss, Charles In Charge, etc...)
Some cable channels scroll the shows closing credits. If memory serves me correct -TV LAND is not one of them. I may want to know the name of the person who guest stars, enjoy listening to the shows theme music, and what year that epidode originally aired.

I never heard the ending to "Hogan Family". That show went off when I was 2! They showed reruns on ABC Family about 4 years ago, but no closing. I fucking hate credit squeezes. I haven't heard a lot of these closing in years! You should also add "Family Matters".
I forgot about that guy who laughed at the end of "Night Court"... CLASSIC!!! Thanks for all these classic themes- my childhood and preteen years just flashed right before my eyes!
one thing i noticed is most of these shows promoted what today seems like almost impossible standard of family life, today families are much different and distant,,,seeing this is very refreshing the 80's were a great time

7:19 Best of them all. Perfect Strangers was, and still is, a great show. Too bad it was kind of overshadowed by Family Matters, not that Family Matters wasn't epic in its own right.

Oh please, oh PLEASE do a Part II!! This was perfectly lovely. I, like @coolnerd83, also felt a certain calm!

I never heard the ending to "Hogan Family". That show went off when I was 2! They showed reruns on ABC Family about 4 years ago, but no closing. I fucking hate credit squeezes. I haven't heard a lot of these closing in years! You should also add "Family Matters".

I had this calm feeling over me as I listed to the theme songs. What does this mean?

one thing i noticed is most of these shows promoted what today seems like almost impossible standard of family life, today families are much different and distant,,,seeing this is very refreshing the 80's were a great time

How about an '80s action series end credits montage? Shows like Hunter, The A-Team, Greatest American Hero, and 21 Jump Street.

7:19 Best of them all. Perfect Strangers was, and still is, a great show. Too bad it was kind of overshadowed by Family Matters, not that Family Matters wasn't epic in its own right.

I remember at the end of those 80's sitcoms, everything would pause and the studio audience would applaud and a few credits would appear...lol
