To the uploader, the show didn't rip-off Look Who's Talking, it was an adaptation of the film.Amy Heckerling, who wrote and directed Look Who's Talking, developed the series and characters for TV.It was originally going to be called Look Who's Talking, but the sequel was coming out at the same time, so they changed the name.
Scott Baio should have bee insulted Mary Page Keller was given top billing over him. Being on Happy Days alone made him a bigger star than her. Plus he also had another hit with Charles in Charge. What did Mary Page have on her resume. A stupid show Duet that only lasted 2.5 seasons
Listen here, misinformed. One, Duet was not a "stupid" show. Two, Mary Page Keller got star billing because the show's premise centered around that of a mother and her infant/toddler son. The show originally had no involvement with Scott Baio, and besides, here he shares top billing with Keller, so I doubt he had anything to object to. This mirrored the case with Look Who's Talking, in which Kirstie Alley and John Travolta were techincally shared leads.
Not really a "rip-off" per say since it was made by the same person who created LOOK WHO'S TALKING but still, this was one of those shows I remember always seeing the opening for as a kid but never actually watching.
Baby Talk was originally supposed to go on the air in September 1990 (under the title 'Look Who's Talking', since it was directly adapted from the movie), with Connie Sellecca as the mother. Sellecca apparently became less enthralled by the quality of the scripts, and dropped out of production a short while before Baby Talk was set to premiere. ABC then delayed its start, ultimately to March 1991, during which time they replaced Sellecca with Julia Duffy.
What was the deal with Mary Page Keller in the early 90's. ABC was obsessed with turning her into a star. She starred in three series in a row that got cancelled after one season. Not that may other actors have that distinction.
@adheckle Jon Cryer had a few failed shows under his belt before Two and a Half Men. Paula Marshall had five (more if you count major recurring parts like on Cursed).
@adheckle It didn't involve just one network, but TV tried to make Paula Marshall a star in the 90s and it didn't take.Over 8 years, she starred in 6 different series on ABC and NBC and they all lasted less than a season. The longest series lasted 14 episodes.Hell, she was even killed off 11 episodes into one series.
At one point, she had a failed series 4 seasons in a row(97, 98, 99 and 00).She starred in 10 failed series from 1994-2008.
wow. this show may be the cause for a lot of my psychological problems. i watched it every damn friday on TGIF, and i cant figure out how i sat through it. lol
This is a very eye-opening post. I also suffer from psychological problems, and I too, watched every episode. Seems like we have found our underlying problems.
you never ever do a movie then try a TV show based on the movie, it never works except for a few like M.A.S.H which to me sucked dick & then Alice & clueless
They even got a bootleg ass fake Bruce Willis voice guy for the "Mikey" character. CAN WE SAY PLLLAAAGGGIIIAAARRRIIISSSM?
